They'll be fine I'm sure, as they are "floury" rather than "waxy". i don't make baked pots very often as OH's not keen on them, but I'd happily use Maris Piper spuds for them.0

When we lived in Germany I once saw a lad doing the same thing, only his dog was a dachshund.....:eek:0 -
Spend all afternoon looking for kitting patterns, been looking for one DGS1 for days so much in chunky. I don't like it for babies. I now know in American it is a pullover. A sweater includes cardigans, waist coats, tank tops, jackets and just about anything you can think of. Boys include 6 footers and people with lumps on there chests. When I found any I liked they were commercial. When I was sent to the site they were not there.
Well I found two on this site http://bernat.com/yarnsperations
I have put it on here again because while I was looking I noticed a crochet doll that has lots and lots of different dresses. I thought your youngest may like it for Christmas Fuddle and anyone else who can crochet and has a little girl to give a present too.
Ivyleaf I found another knitted topsy-turvy doll on the same site page 188. The site has both free and pay for patterns. Just click on patterns and and then free patterns and you get 202 pages of 12 on a page free knitting and crochet patters. There are lots of gifts. Just what we are all looking for right now.
I not only got 2 jumpers for my DGS1 but one for his teddy, a T-Rex and, I never thought I would kit one of these but an aeroplane it is gorgeous and so easy. I already have all the colours I need for it.
I do not know if I will get T-Rex done in time for Christmas. I have a feeling I shall have to do one for DGS6 as he loves dinosaurs too.0 -
Evening, thank you for the welcome & Ivyleaf good memory, been a long time since I was on the Dailies, although I must get back in the habit!! Work seems to have been all consuming for quite some time & any OS ways I had have mainly gone to pot!!! That's a shop I've not been in but I may need to explore as I have a week off & a stationery addiction....
I too am a book lover & have loads that I have now moved to different houses in the past 3 years or so, although since July last year finally been in my "forever" home with various children (& their boyfriends) moving in & out. Currently 2 daughters, 1 b/f & my brother all living with me so quite a busy household. I have resolved to try & sort them out and take some to the charity shops (books not children!) and have loads of other stuff in my house that needs sorting & places to put it. Also need to get back in the habit of meal-planning - I have started taking the month's grocery money out in cash just after payday as I was spending so much otherwise.
Plus trying to make my garden 'pretty' - it's only 30ft & all paved (which is exactly what I wanted as I couldn't manage the 100ft long field I had at my last house), so want to get some plants for pots (any recommendations?) and put up my solar fairy lights, etc.
So, not much there.... Hopefully getting back in the posting habit will keep me more motivatedLive your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Good morning! A very cold start here (compared to normal but not that cold) but the sun is out and it's set to gradually warm up. I slept with my national trust £14 recycled wool blanket last night but still have the summer duvet on.
I have decided that I am going to go back to making a loaf of bread in the week. I just can't bare to eat shop bought bread and that is causing havoc with grabbing quick snacks. Weekends working will be difficult but I think the 5 min bread dough in the fridge will work so DH can make one on a Sunday. Will work it all out.
I'm about to leave in 10 minutes and working through till kids' pick up but today is the last day of using the car and I am very happy about that. DD starts her new school tomorrow.
I don't feel organised or on top of the house so will have to sort those feelings out later and get through some tidying, cleaning and sorting. Ok, and some ironing.
Have a good day everyone0 -
good morning everyone, finally back from our holiday x had the best time ever, no children with us for the first time ever and amazingly we got on ... lol.
Came home to a letter from the council, our neighbours reported us for leaving the dog at home, he wasn't on his own dd 19 was here and mum had him to play at hers every day. grrrrr. words were exchanged so neighbourly relations are not great at the moment.
Thursday is aldi voucher day everyone, back to the frugal and saving ways here.
Hope everyone is ok, will try and catch up over the next few days. xBSC member 137

FUDDLE if you like wholemeal bread look up a recipe for the DORIS GRANT LOAF which is just mix and bake, a proper yeasted loaf, but with no kneading or pfaffing about, you just mix, pop it in the loaf tins, leave it to rise and bake it. It's nice bread and oh so easy and quick and it keeps well too.0

That's sweet of you Maggie but you must have got me mixed up with someone else as I'm not a knitter. The patterns you've found sound lovely though, I love the idea of a knitted T Rex
Squiggly Diddly A week off and a stationery addiction  Best not go anywhere near that shop
SQ Hope OH is feeling more cheery today (((HUGS)))
Fuddle - Do all your ladies live near enough for you to walk to, then? how lovely! Hope DD has a good first day at the new school tomorrow.
Just been mopping up in the kitchen - I was on my way back round to the kitchen area with a pouch of cat food and the cat launched himself at my foot in ecstasy, as he does when food's on the way, caught me off balance as I tried to prevent him rubbing his head on my toe bandage, and I knocked into my glass of water, which I'd just put on the worktop *rolls eyes* Thankfully I'd been about to put the used kitchen towels and teatowels into the washing machine, so I had something at hand to mop up the mess with!
Very happy for DD2 today, she's a nurse and is starting a new job which is daytime only. She's been very happy in her most recent job but the constant switching from day to night shifts has left her body clock in a right old state. She has to leave home even earlier but will get home earlier as well.0 -
SQ hope you're not feeling quite so twizzled as you were over the last few days love, relationships are never straightforward and men in general are not terribly perceptive or tuned in to the way they actually say things to thier female loved ones. Never doubt that you ARE loved though, even He Who Knows can't find the right words or tone of voice sometimes and even after 40 years together I still have raised hackles and huff a bit. He never means to hurt and neither does your lovely old DH it's the venus and mars thing going on! I've learned to give him some space for a few hours before tackling how he's said whatever it was and he's always mortified that he's hurt me and trys so hard to explain what he ACTUALLY meant to say that I always forgive him instantly because he's so apologetic. You've been under lots of stress with the 11+ and school visits let alone all the other trials and mundane things of life and you're tired too so be kind to yourself for a change and do some things to make you relax and unwind even if it's just time out for coffee, reading a book or just doing nothing at all for an hour, re charge your batteries girlie and the world will click back into place and DH will just be himself again and you'll stop hurting, Hugs, and as many of them as you need, Lyn xxx.0

That's the loaf my grandma used to make Lyn. My cousins and I used to love a warm buttered slice of her bread. On her more crazy days she still thinks she can make it and asks my mum why there's no yeast in her house ...
I have 2 poorly children today, although both seem to be a lot better than when on the school run. I had to take my friend's children anyway so didn't make a decision until the last minute. My friend came out of hospital last night, but has gone to her mum's to be looked after rather than going to her house. I guess she's still feeling fragile.
So not much house clearing going on today, have just had a bit of a tidy of the garden and I will clean some doors later. How do doors get so dirty?!0
