Hi Jem, if you still live in the area you were married in you can pop into th e office, so avoiding postage.

They probably won't do it there and then, but you shouldn't have longer than a week to wait. When I first worked in a RO we would do certificates whilst you waited, but I know for a fact the one I worked in ask you to call back later in the week.

My kitchen smella heavenly, I've just made a sausage plait to have tomorrow when the Zebra child comes to visit and I've got a wartime applesauce teacup cake in the oven and a very naughty chocolate brownie cake too, Mmmmmmm!!!

Well it's definitely feeling more Autumnal here today, I've had to find socks!!

Popped on to the AF website for a quick mooch - they don't seem to have had anything worthwhile for us lately but today they did! Huge order now on it's way - saved £187...lots of basics for us but a few treaty bits that I wouldn't normally buy at full price. They had lots of nuts and nibbles too which will be great for over Christmas.

Faffed around making something pretty for the house this morning, with all the stuff I make for others I don't find the time normally but I was determined to make something for me. Popped it on my FB page with a note saying I won't be selling them and already had 5 messages asking if I could!!

Freezer roulette for tea - it could be curry.....it could be chilli......not quite sure until it defrosts but there'll be rice to go with it.

Thank you for all you help re marriage certificate I'm gonna pop into town tomoz and see what it's going to cost me I need it ASAP so it's got yo be got .
Iv made fish cakes and sw chips for tea need to pop and get a few bits and make pudding can't decide what yet any ideas ?

Jem, why do they need your marriage cert if you are divorced? Your marriage has been dissolved and the records should state that, you should not be able to get a copy if you have a decree absolute?

Because of my name change from maden name to married name . Please don't say that if I trapeze all the way into town tomoz and they say no what am I going to do ? They took it off me when I got divorced it say I can do a statory dec that has to be signed by a solicitor myte just ring the ex he's a solicitor see what he says then pop into town and see what they say tomoz.
The best of it is I am remarried but they don't want that certificate because I didn't change my name ?.

Anyone can purchase a marriage certificate as long as they can fill in an application form. This requires both names, date of marriage and place of marriage in order to search for it.

In Scotland the marriage entry in the register is annotated if there is a subsequent divorce, we don't do this in England and Wales.

Jem you are quite right they need it because you changed your surname.

Ring them & check, if a signed declaration is enough then get that. Your marriage has been dissolved & effectively doesn't exist any more.
