Possession - how'd the viewing go???
Well I think but who knows?! There are two more booked in this week so far.
Am super tired now, after dropping kids at karate 10 miles away, driving back to do the viewing, then back to pick them up from karate, and house cleaning all day. But the house looks nice!0 -
Fingers crossed Possession. It's a pain in the proverbial keeping the house inspection-worthy but it's a lovely feeling to get up in the morning to a spotless house. I've sold 3 houses in my time and discovered that it is the non-committal viewers that end up being buyers, People who gush and flatter and promise that they will be back with cheque in hand will disappear into the sunset.
The applesauce cake sounds lovely Lyn. I've not yet got the Rev round to eating dried fruit so it's a non-starter here. When we did a forties night at church I typed out loads of wartime recipes and gave them out to people who were coming. They all had to make one or two of them and bring them along as that was the food for the evening. It was a spectacular success. people couldn't believe how tasty the food was. I made mashed potato pastry - some sausage rolls and a bakewell tart where the ground almonds were substituted by semolina and almond essence. Lots of people asked me for that recipe.
I had a tired day today, don't know why. So I did the minimum of housework and slept all the afternoon. I'll have to make up for it tomorrow.

Monna I'm so glad you listened to your body and did what it was telling you! I'm not surprised you're tired, with the hectic time you've had over the past year. I hope you feel better today, but take things gently xx
Fuddle Hope DD got on all right at new school. she sounds as if she makes friends quickly
Rather wet here this morning, and I mustn't get my dressing wet and can't squeeze it into a shoe, so OH has been despatched to the bakery and paper shop. I get this dressing changed for a smaller one tomorrow, thank goodness.0 -
Hello everyone
Just a quick pop in to show I'm still alive, and if not kicking, at least toe tapping.
I've been really busy with work and getting DS1 ready for Uni. The pile of stuff for him to take seems to be increasing by the minute.
I'm due in work again at 1pm, so time for a quick lunch and whizz around the kitchen before I go.
Love to everyone xxx0 -
Gorgeous sunshine here so 2 loads out on the line drying - oh I do like having washing lines just outside the back door, one of the joys of the new house! DH has mowed the lawns and dishwasher just finishing up. It's the first day since the kids went back that DH is not revising and I'm not in a meeting so we are going to sneak out in a bit for a cheeky pub lunch! There's a lovely pub in the village where DS goes to nursery that does a good deal at lunch time and its run by a lovely couple who used to come and eat breakfast at the caf! I used to run pre kids so its always nice to catch up and say hi.
Nice to have a calm day today as I'm at regional tomorrow so long drive there and back, thank heavens for sat navs!! My OU website opens tomorrow too, feels quite funny that it's my last module already, it doesn't seem 2 minutes since I started my degree but then I look at not so little man and think ... yes, you were a bump when I started this and now he's 3 1/2 and leggy as anything!
Hope you all settled in too Monna - we've still got some boxes in the shed but I'm slowly working my way through them.
Possession - good luck with your viewings/move - I did loads of decluttering when we moved (including loads of books) and it was a bit of a wrench but I'm glad now that I did as the new house is looking so lovely.
Hugs and virtual tea/coffee/cake wherever it is needed - catch you all later Hx0 -
Hugs SDG, hope the move to uni goes smoothly.
And Fuddle hope DD is settling in nicely at her new school.
Just viewed a house and realised from pics on the wall that it's a bloke I know from karate! Very nice house.0 -
You're looking at the move and every change connected to it as positively as you can aren't you Possession? Good on you. Let the excitement of change and the planning needed, guide you while enjoying the chance to grab home life and mould it into exactly what you need it to be, both physically and aesthetically.
Monna you don't often admit to being tired so I hope you are ok. It may be the time of the year as DH and I are waking after going to bed at 9.30pm, feeling completely shattered.
Youngest DD has astounded me completely once again. That kid immersed herself into new friends the minute she walked back through the gates this morning, ready for her second day. Youngest is not at all like me. I like that free spirit, fun loving characteristic even though her airy fairy ways sometimes makes for frustrated mothering! :rotfl:
I don't have wholemeal strong flourso can't make that loaf until next week Lyn but eager to try it, especially if it's lighter on the prep side. About to pull out the last shop bought loaf from the freezer.
I am going to put in a HM batch of flapjack to have tonight with custard, with some going in packed lunches tomorrow. I am also cooking chicken, roasting butternut squash and hardening Fimo models in the oven too.0 -
A flying visit in between everything. Wanted to say a big thank you to Mrs LW and everyone else who posted wise and kind words to me the other day when DH was driving me to distraction. I am feeling a bit better and to be honest so busy with secondary school choosing, I haven't time for much else with the usual kids, housework, shopping.
Today particularly mad. have done a school tour, been shopping, made lots of phone calls and texts, chores, tried to help a friend out who is a DV victim (that's a hard one) and almost got our boiler fixed (no hot water from last night) but plumber got stuck in traffic then I had school run. Boiling kettles for water so fine but as no working shower, may need to call in a favour from a friend tomorrow eve to use her facilities! Got to leave as soon as DH in for another school open eve. And breathe.
Glad Miss fuddle settled in straight away, good kid. Good luck for tomorrow's drive Stilty. Hope you are feeling a bit more rested monna, listen to your body!!
right off to sort quick pasta tea and smarten myself up0 -
SQ Glad you're feeling a bit better
If it's any comfort, OH and I have been married for 41 years and I still have to spell out my expectations very clearly if i want or need him to do something x
stiltwalker Well done on nearly being at the end of your degree! I'm full of admiration that you've managed to get through it so quickly with all the other things you have going on
Fuddle Glad DD2 seems to be settling in so fast! I hope DD1 is happy with her new school too - I suppose some of her friends from her last school are there too, which always helps.
Good to see you popping in SDG Isn't it astonishing how much stuff they have to take to Uni!
((HUGS)) Possession, good luck with the house viewings (both yours and other people's, IYSWIM).
