SQ: I'm with Pooky and Lyn on the subject of men. It's no good expecting then to pick up on hints and atmospheres. They just don't get it. You have to spell out how you are feeling in words of one syllable with a rolling pin accompaniment if necessary.

Lyn: Thank you for giving Fuddle the tip about the Doris Grant Loaf. It may help me as well. I always make white bread although I prefer w'meal. However, the Rev has now said that she is willing to eat w'meal (blessings on the dietician) So I made two last week. The first one was a disaster so I tried a different recipe. It was worse! House bricks didn't come close. I'd have thrown it if I wasn't worried about the damage it would cause. I'll try again.

PIC: Sorry that your DS didn't get the job but there will be a better one waiting for him somewhere.

I can't believe this wonderful weather. I bought some compost and bulbs today because there's not much chance of getting much more of the garden cleared without a lot of help. I have seen a few green shoots pushing up here and there so I guess that some spring bulbs may be lurking in the undergrowth and are luxuriating in the unaccustomed light.. I brought multitudinous pots and containers with me so will plant up some of them to give some colour in the courtyard. It will please my 90+ neighbour who has a lovely display of pelargoniums ouside his back door and keeps asking me anxiously what I am going to do with all these pots.

Possession: I am in awe of your strong mindedness. When the children were small I used to have a book propped up behind the taps (so I could read while doing things at the sink - had to be an old book because of wet fingers!), one by the loo, one by my bed and one by my armchair. My friends used to wonder how I was reading at least 4 books at the one time but it was no problem. My books are old friends and getting rid of any of them would be like cutting an arm or leg off.

Tomorrow I will do some housework. Promise.

  • good luck Possession, deep breathes and you will be fine x

My lappy playing up again and DH is working from home today so probably won't be able to pop back til the eve or tomorrow.

Have the best day you can everyone
  • Possession you will be fine. If you are happy how the house looks then you can't do any more.

Please don't take any comments they make personally, or what they intend to do to change it. Just remember you want to sell it so you can move on, and you will take your memories with you.

    Good luck

  • Morning all,

    Good luck Possession!

I'm finally feeling much closer to normal. I still have the odd bought of coughing, but can't complain at all! Tonight is a freezer dinner--a veggie and chocolate chili I made awhile ago. It was ok, but I'm not sure I'd make it again. It will be lovely tonight though, as it means I don't need to cook it.

Thanks for the loaf suggestion Lyn, I've book-marked it. If you make it fuddle, let us know how it goes! I probably won't get much bread baking done in the coming weeks.

Right, time for me to get to work. Bit of a chill this morning.x

Jem you would be horrified, we only have 2 toilet rolls, and those are rubbish ones I grabbed quickly in Poundland. I don't know what the world's coming to, really. We are trying to run down our food supplies now, and having lots of curries as that's about the only way we find tinned potatoes palatable. Plus we also have lots of jars of value curry sauce, and it also uses up all the AF naan breads in the freezer. I was rather surprised to discover that we had 3 legs of lamb, 3 turkey legs and 2 huge pork joints in the freezer though. Not very good planning there. I'm sure they were all cheap but even so!
DS is still off school but under strict instructions not to make any mess whatsoever.
Glad you're feeling a bit better FairyP

  • JEM if you apply to the Register Office in the area you were married the fee for the certificate is £10. the same price as a full birth certificate

    Hope that helps
