Sheila I'm so sorry you couldn't have your op. My first knee replacement was postponed (because the surgeon slipped and put a scalpel through his hand!) and when his secretary phoned to tell me the night before I cried. I was so ready for it to happen. So I do sympathise.
A very exhausting day here with karate gradings, but both children passed, and both got medals for best in their category, so all is well.
Very very tired so not much sorting has gone today, except a bit of the garage sorted and a carload for the tip/recycling centre. An early night is required.0 -
well done to Possession's karate kids!
Getting rid of books is hard for book lovers. I rarely re-read a novel so have given nearly all of mine away expect a few favourite classics, Dickens, Jane Eyre etc, a few recipe books and other practical books. DH on the other hand wants to keep all the books he has read the once and will never read again. All attempts to get him to re-think have proved futile so far - we could really use the space. Having said all that, if we had a mansion I would definitely want a huge library - maybe I would have some sort of private lending service to appease my guilt at hogging all those books though!
I think DH has fallen asleep upstairs and don't know what time would be best to rouse him, he has been working late or out at open eves all week, up early today and thoroughly shattered.0 -
SQ it's very sad. My 93 yr old grandma who has just moved house now has her dream library, all her millions of books in one room with a few comfy chairs. But her eyesight has got so bad that she can now not read most of them.0

Awww that is such a shame. I know it's not the same and you probably have thought of this but would having a few of her favourite books in audio version help, she could sit cozily and hear them in the library?0 -
Right toughies, what OS item would you choose to bash your annoying partner over the head with?
A. the traditional rolling pin - only a hard whack will do
B. a modern silicon kitchen tool - more of a gentle warning this time
C. a recipe book using leftovers - see A
D. a slightly stale loaf of bread - you could still use it afterwards to make bread pudding
E. something else0 -

Oh dear.....what's he done???"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Pooky, it's nothing much, really more of an attitude. His lordship does not like to be disturbed (me talking, asking him anything) when relaxing which invariably involves listening/watching something. Fair enough when its reasonable time periods, he does work hard and that's more than fine with me ... its the bliddy amounts of relaxing whilst I am plainly not relaxing that is annoying me and when I just want to ask one simple question that might affect him/be important or whatever, not talking a constant stream of natter. He keeps on saying he will interrupt one of my fav programmes to see how I like it. I watch 1 or 2 programmes on my own every week, not a lot to ask. It sounds a bit silly writing it but I was seething before. He just cannot seem to see my viewpoint and these next few weeks is not the right time to argue. There I feel better already. Moan over... next...0
