Morning all,
Kidcat, very gentle hugs. I hope the children are coming to terms with the loss.
Sheila that sounds so frustrating! I hope they are able to get your hemoglobin levels sorted quickly and get your op done without much more delay.
Possession, what a bit step! I'm glad it will help ease money matters for a time.
OH is out with the football team this morning for an away game. Its their first proper game as year 7s, so I would imagine he'll come in exhausted later. I'm going to try to get a bit of work done this morning and when he gets back we'll blitz the chores together and then possibly have an outing. I'm still not fully recovered, but feel more like I've got a bit of a cold really. OH says I've taken on a Victorian pallor and need to get out, if only for a bit this afternoon.:rotfl:0 -
Oh Sheila, how frustrating! but as others have said, better safe than sorry. I expect the doc will put you on a course of iron tablets or something.
kidcat So sorry to hear about puddycat (((HUGS)))
lad you're feeling a bit betterm but try not to over do things.
Fairyprincess Glad you're feeling a bit better! But try not to overdo things, eh?
fuddle super news re DD2 school! I guess that means more uniform to buy  Is DD1 at her middle school now?
Lyn Fancy Zebra having a tooth, I can't believe how time has flown!
I've got my feet up atm as I had surgery on my ingrown toenail on Thursday. It's not sore, only the odd twinge, but I suspect that's because I'm not walking around much yet! I have a bulky dressing on it, but next Thursday I go back and the chiropodist will put a smaller one on, more like a plaster, he says. I've to see him once a week until 4 weeks are up.
We have also been to Eastbourne for three nights, as there were going to be roadworks in our road and we were worried about parking, so we thought we'd make the most of it and use some of our savings for a short break. Loved Eastbourne, will go again.
When we got home it turned out they had only resurfaced the junction at the end of the road, so there would have been no problem parking at all *rolls eyes*. DS, who still lives with us, was working long hours, so we put the cat into the cattery as well!0 -
Long-time lurker / OSer here - just popped on to say I love Eastbourne too Ivyleaf - lived here most of my life (except for 18 months in mid Kent 2011/12 for work but got too homesick so came back!!).
I love reading all your chit-chat & often wonder where Mrs LW is when I drive along the A27/M27 for work at times...
Will resolve to join in more!!Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Just popping in to say hello - last night I was so tired I couldn't even type!
Sorry to heat about your kitty Kidcat - hope kids are ok today - its heartbreaking!
Shiela - it is definately better to be safe than sorry about the opp but I'm sure its a big disspointment (and strange that it wasn't noticed before you actually got to theatre!!) - hopefully GP will get to the bottom of it soon
Possession - you are moving forward at a pace with clearing and planning your move! send some motivation my way please!!
Pooky - what is your OH going to study? and great that his consultant is being so helpful - so frustrating waiting for people to sign things - its rarely a prioroty and often at the bottom of the pile!
I need a kick up the backside today! Got lots to do but cant work out what to tackle first - DS is off on a school residential trip today - I packed his bag last night so just need to nip to a chemist and get a new toothbrush and a non aeresol deoderant for him - he is not allowed a spray!!! I just pray he can behave and I don't get called at 3 am with him swinging off the lights or the like! He has ADHD and his behaviour can be challenging at times - but when doing activities he should be ok - hopefully he will be so tired at night that he crashes out!!!
DD3 wants to do some cooking with me - and I was thinking along the lines of chocolate cake, muffins, brownies or something - no she wants to do a 2 tiered cake with chocolate tuile biscuits and chocolate tart boats on the top! Great Brittish Bake Off has a lot to answer to!!!
But I should be cutting grass and starting to tidy garden for winter, cleaning the house and doing the washing!!! but to be honest I have absolutely no energy or inclination to move from the couch!!!
Hope everyone is having a more productive day than me!!!0 -
Only slightly Judi walked the dog, picked about the last of the blackberries in the garden and made a chocolate beetroot cake for work tonite and some cookie dough mixture that can be baked as and when the urge takes me xx
PS sorry forgot to welcome the newbie humble apologies hope you enjoy yourself on here xx0 -
Fuming here. Just finished a beautifully crafted post and it wouldn't accept it. I had to re-register in spite of the fact that it said 'Welcome monnagran' at the top of the page. Of course I lost the lot.
Not doing it again, so...
Hugs to kidcat and Sheila.
Well done Possession.
Productive day Judi? Nah! Good luck with the cake.
I'm giving up now.

Afternoon all
DD1 rolled in just gone midnight - her train hopping worked.....she had a few hours sleep and then we've been off to do her Uni registration today - she's now officially enrolled and has her first introductory lecture at 10am on Monday - she's got her time table sorted (2 full days, 1 half day) so can now change her work hours to suit. She's off to work in a bit so it's been a long day for her.
DH is studying astrophysics - his mind is still very willing even if the body isn't. Before his accident he was a contract law specialist in the insurance industry so this is a whole different field for him - his neuro specialist up at Kings was keen for him to start doing something challenging so was very on the ball with the paperwork.
I need to think of something for dinner - forgot to get anything out the freezer....might just opt for cheesy beans on toast."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Well done family POOKY, all of you, Lyn xxx.0

How annoying that you couldn't have your op Sheila but good to know they checked everything properly - a bit late though?? Hopefully won't be too long until the real thing.
Well DS did the 11+ today and stayed calm though nervous going in, most proud of him for having a go and keeping his head. He said he wanted to have a stab for the experience. The results seem almost irrelevant - bet I am a bit of a rarity thinking that! I was worried he would freak out in a big hall of strangers but the school organised it very well (despite the scary arrangement letter we received), had small groups of children in classrooms and friendly six formers and teachers chatting to them before they went in. Massive relief.
I managed to squeeze in an open day in a different direction whilst DH and DS7 waited for DS10 and then battle traffic to collect them while they twiddled their thumbs for an hour. Think I have found a safe school preference, plan B if the others fall through as the over subscription issue isn't a big issue like the rest. DH only wants to put down the very best schools but I am concerned that if we only put very popular, heavily oversubscribed schools, we won't get any of them and will be allocated our closest school (which will definitely have plenty of spaces) and is our very last choice if you can call it a choice!!
Another person recharging her batteries this afternoon. Hardly done anything since we got back, we all flopped on the sofa together for a bit though boys are playing football now. Not doing much now, most chores can wait until tomorrow, I am shattered as didn't sleep much last night.
Judi hope your son has a great school trip. A couple of friends have ADHD children who have been on residential trips (different schools) and their behaviour was fine despite parental concerns. He will no doubt be exhausted at the end of the days.
Wishing your toe better ivyleaf. A friend had hers done and I remember the cartoon sized bandage, she wished she had been brave enough to get it done earlier.
Hello squiggly diddly (great name) and a warm welcome, hang around and join in the fun!
there is a big pile of dishes waiting sigh.... then hoping I can dig out something vaguely edible for dinner and that's my lot. Tomorrow though I will need to put my bum in gear and catch up with "stuff".
take care0 -
Welcome Squiggly Diddly Hope you will enjoy this thread they are a lovely supportive bunch. They are there when you need them.
Aw Kidcat lots of hugs.
Possession I know it is difficult getting rid of your books. As my DS20 said when I took a ton to a CS before we moved here these days you need to keep the novels you know you will read again and all the rest is available on line and more up to date. I am sure you have kept some. Does mean you have some funds for the move.
Oh Sheila so sorry they cancelled your op. They will look in to it. Are you eating properly now there is just you to feed?
When I had my op last year I lost a lot of blood so I had 4 units during the op and one more a few days later. In spite of all that I was very anaemic for months after. Then DD came to stay as soon as she could get baby a passport. They have lived in Muslim countries for a bout 8 years so they tend to go mad on pork when they come home.
My next appointment with my oncologist he said " You will be pleased to know you are not anaemic any more."
I put that down to what DD and SIL call the pork fest. Ham, sausages bacon, pork pies and for DD lots of pate. Well I eat them as well. I had been taking iron tablets for months and it was not improving. Every couple of months I buy a packet of low fat pate which I have on toast for lunch for about 4 days. My blood count has been high ever since. Anaemia is one of the many side effects of my cancer treatment. Give it a try. Eat fruit have a side salad or some orange juice with your pate it helps you absorb the iron. Pate does not cause the problems that iron tablets do.
Most of the supermarkets do a low fat pate. Ald! does three different ones.
Hope it is all sorted out for soon Sheila. I think your body is still allowing you to have all the illnesses it stopped you having while you were looking after DH. It is quite common, I had all that after my mum died. Started with a cold and ended up in hospital.
Glad you are getting better Princess. You could be run down so lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and maybe a bit of pate for you too.
Well nothing much OS going on in my life at the moment unless you count 5 no spend days. Still waiting for DS to get up and take me to the market, Mr S and Ald! Of course the market closed over an hour ago. I have tried to get him up he does not move. Can't carry everything on my own and to him 2 weeks ago was yesterday so I have buy a lot at once.0
