  • Hi all,

Just wanted to pop in and say, your attitude about your son's education is SPOT ON SQ! Your son will be fine, he will know he is valued no matter how he does on the test and he will know that if he wants something in life he will have to work for it, and you will make sure he thrives in whatever school he ends up in. He already has a great start in life. Just wanted to give you a pat on the back and offer a hug.

I'm still ill and feeling quite sorry for myself, but I've had lovely news at work, and can work from home from now until Thursday so hopefully I'll be feeling better soon.
  • Yes definitely pineapple Fuddle it just will not set.
  • Afternoon everyone, would anyone like some lurgy as we have plenty going spare here as we have two boys down at the moment.

I really must get down the allotment some time or I won't be able to find it under the weeds!

  • Good morning everyone.
For those who like Kenco instant coffee (I do) our CO-OP is selling 200gm jars for £4.00 instead of £6.99. Great for me - I bought 3 jars yesterday and hope to get more today - always need to have plenty coffee in.

Thanks for the info on coffee AOT. I usually only buy the refills so will have to work out the best value. We went to Clarks Village yesterday and stocked up on Wittard's coffee beans. They are closing this week so we got one of their lovely tins that they keep the beans in as well. I am so disappointed that they are closing, such lovely stores and the assistants are really friendly and helpful, I fear that soon we will only be able to buy on line. If this spreads to other stores the high street will soon be dead. I don't know about you but I like to actually see what I am buying and have a discussion with someone if there's something I'm not sure about. They call it 'progress'.
I'm stuck here while the workmen are back. Lovely chaps, they are repairing broken windows and re-painting part of the ceiling where the bathroom sprang a leak. They have also put up a cupboad on the wall for me so have rewarded them with coffee and cake. I know who to suck up to.
Belly pork is on the menu today with, guess what? cauliflower cheese.
The washing machine has stopped whirring so I will get it hung out and then look at the bread that is hoopefully rising. It's a bit chilly today so I bet it will take ages.

Hope you soon feel better FairyP and PIC.
Fantastic news about the holiday Jem, what a lovely Mum you have.

    Back to work then.

  • Morning all,

I've just returned from the surgery with a course of antibiotics for my chest. I honestly feel guilty taking them because living in a post-penicillin world terrifies me, but I also trust my doctor to tell me when they're warranted. Feeling very, very poorly, so its laptop and work from bed today, but will try to rouse myself to put some Jacket spuds in the oven when OH sets off from work. I've been on the water biscuits, so a nice bland supper will suit me and it will be quick and filling with beans and cheese for OH. I was hoping to make a potato and cheese back from one of the M. Patten books, but definitely not feeling up to that. So pleased we've jacket spuds in the store cupboard. Tomorrow will be a freezer meal of chicken and barley stew which just needs to be dumped in the SC with a few things in the am.

Hugs to all who need them and a friendly reminder to keep some easy comfort foods on hand for those winter colds.x

    Hi everyone

Get well wishes to PIC and FairyP.
Nice to hear from you jem. Great news re the holiday.
Good luck VJ's mum and others prepping for children off to uni.

Had a mad day yesterday and DH came home to dishes, washing and general stuff everywhere, good for him to see though what happens when I don't do stuff. Stayed up too late to catch up a bit and still tons to do today. Working through tasks methodically, my brain won't allow for multi-tasking today! Important stuff first, rest is a bonus.

Off out to another open eve tonight so the slow cooker will come into its own. So glad I got one and looking forward to using it more this winter.

Oh nearly forgot to post our good news! I am a great auntie for the 2nd time, another boy, 10lb!!!, the couple already have a toddler boy. Reminds me of our two. Still haven't been able to see the first born (don't live in UK) but one of these days we will get to see them both. Just need a card to add to the new baby pressie and post it.
