I know how you mean the advice and I agree and appreciate it.

I agree that with treatments going on for seven weeks and dds wedding in November it seems "less than ideal" to put house up for sale and plan to move. I know it is against all advice about making knee jerk decisions etc. but DH needs peace of mind and moving to a smaller, cheaper to run house and one that is all on one level will help do this.

I love our house and garden but I love him more and feel being ensconsed safely elsewhere will help.

It is not the bricks and mortar that make a home - it is the love and
commitment and effort to make it your own that counts.

If it gave DH more time I would go back to a tenement flat in Glasgow - with the current vote - we might not be able to!

At the moment we are eating healthily, researching anything that might help and being so positive it feels unreal.

    Hugs to all

Computer froze just then! Why does it do it when you are trying to hurry?

    Morning all :)

I am so sorry to hear about your friend PIC ((((((((hugs))))))))

Welcome back Sheila and the best of luck with the op xxx

Possession I'm sure you will make the best decision. Maybe writing out the pros and cons of both houses will help.

((((((((((((hugs)))))))))) to you and your DH elona

I hope we get to see a pic of your new storage full of homemade goodies fuddle :)

I'm still here and just about standing. I had a huge sob yesterday which seems to have helped. All I need is to catch up on sleep after a week of insomnia and I might start feeling a bit more human. DH is on call this week so everything is up in the air as normal.

I'm feeling like I have a million and one things on the go/to do and I'm lacking the focus to deal with any of them. I have three knitting projects started and another two to do as well. I haven't even started to think about Christmas and what everyone is getting this year. I'm hoping that when I get over this bad patch I will feel a bit more able to cope with it all.

DS1 is off to Uni in 12 days and counting and the pile of stuff to take with him seems to be growing by the day. Thank goodness DH has a big car. I'm sure that I didn't have half the stuff he has when I went.

I'd better go and get some stuff done as I'm in work this afternoon.

    Much love and hugs xxxxxxxxx

For all those whose children are through the 11 plus exam and secondary school transition year. Apparently under the new EHC act people who have Educational Statements, Additional Need Contracts, School Action Plus etc Basically anyone on the SEN Register.

They have a full right to appeal and apparently grammer schools have to take into SEN and the persons health needs i.e anxiety etc into the application.
If they don't they are breaking the law and causing a breach of duty of care.

The act brings in all education, health and care in one package so they greater clarification for everyone involved.
This applies even to school outside of your catchment area or other local authority.

So please remember to use that in your application, never know could be a blessing :)

Oh and always three options, otherwise you get stuck with an appalling choice of school. I know a number this has happened to as they have only written one preference on the application form.
  • Morning all,

Had a busy weekend involving kids parties, school open day and various tasks I won't bore you all with. DS10 has been a wotsit so lots of patience needed.

Popped into a friend's this morn after school run. Her son is also doing 11+ and he has been heavily home tutored at weekends, is top of the class and not a worrier like my son. He is also more or less guaranteed a place at another great school as his sister is already there. All the talk was making me feel anxious - not for DS scoring well in 11+ but for getting into any good school. However I know DS is doing his best and so am I as a parent, no pushing like my friend, which is IMHO the better approach. I DO NOT need to compare myself to her (and repeat...)

Thanks kezlou for the info - DS doesn't fall under SEN but if there is anywhere on the application form to mention his anxiety (which he hasn't been diagnosed formally with but does have to cope with) I will add it on the slightest off chance it will help. Nothing ventured and all that.

((SDG))) hope you get lots of sleep and feel brighter soon. Lack of sleep is the pits isn't it?

Gorgeous day here, washing out and another load to go soon. I can't believe how lucky we are with the weather here. Wanted to start back at the gym today but need to go food shopping still and the house is once again getting very untidy and quite frankly needs a good scrub. Having DH here last week hasn't helped me get back into a routine so fresh start today.

Tonight I need to make a new to do list and timetables, meal plans and as much as I can to get organised. Also need (yes need) to catch up with several friends. If I can get the house shipshape, I might invite a big bunch over at once!

I have DD leaving in just under two weeks and I think we are the same - it feels like one massive retail experience  we are going to open her a student bank account today and off to the Swedish furniture shop this evening (DH will only go in the evening)

I am not thinking too much about her being gone :(.

Although I can't wait to get my hands on her bedroom :rotfl:
I wanna be in the room where it happens
