There must be an awful lot of us on here then who are wicked CC! Good to get the workmen out of the way at beginning of your 5 day break eh and then can you have some me time afterwards?

Sharing is a way of halving your troubles and doubling your strength, x

    X C C[/QUOTE] Yes couldn't agree more

    Wishing you better FairyP.

Well DH surfaced at 10.30 and asked me what I had on today. I said "chores" and then started to list them (and added some I had already done whilst he was sleeping for good measure ;)) He will of wished he hadn't asked!

I have cleared some more of the spare room of doom, many bags of stuff are left the premises. Mr Chesty is sorted, he is being run down and meals are getting harder to put together. Tonight we have various small tubs of mince concoctions de-frosted and mixed together and topped with mash and served with frozen veg. Sounds wonderful doesn't it? Last time I did it boys asked for it again... difficult when I wasn't 100% sure what was actually in "it". Sorted out my baking and odds and ends (like gravy and mustard powder) cupboard and the set of drawers holding the extra stocks of the same. Several packets of OOD jelly - guess what's for pudding tonight?

DH finally started doing the lawns and hedge a little while ago with front door and French doors open just as I sat down with me heated leftovers and cuppa. Can't moan, he is doing something at long last. Thanks girls, reckon he heard you!

ok back to it, no long before school run
ps whilst signing off... DH has plonked himself back down on the sofa.... you've gotta laff

SQ - I know I shouldn't laugh but what is it with men?? My DH has a great many skills & he's very handy BUT he'll do one job then go & watch 'Man Soaps' for the rest of the afternoon. I've learnt over many years that generally they do not notice anything unless it directly concerns them so if you want something doing ASK
Pity I don't take my own advice after I took a builders bag of garden rubbish on my own to the tip :(
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

    Hello everyone :)

fuddle The best of luck with your knee. I hope it is a quick and easy fix xx

savingqueen My DH is just the same. Ask him to do some DIY and it falls on deaf ears, but as soon as a computer needs fixing he is happy to spend days doing it. Good luck x

How frustrating kidcat I hope everything works out and that your DS is feeling better about it all.

Good luck vibes to all those sitting exams and cake, tea and gin to all the parents having to deal with the stress as well (((((hugs)))))

Life has been alternating between chaos and mayhem and nothing going on at all.
We had a wonderful holiday in Whitby as an early birthday present to me. I ate my way around the town, relaxed and even ended up singing in the hotel bar during the folk singalong.
Then I spent 3 days baking for our friend's daughter's wedding. I made way too much cake, but it went really well. Next time I think we are going to have the holiday after the wedding as we were all shattered at the end of it.
Bad news followed when I found out that my wonderful friend Matt died of breathing problems on August 8th. I'm still in shock about it and keep expecting a message/call from him.
Add in the stress of getting DS1 ready for going to Hull Uni and I'm not doing great at the moment. Getting out of bed and doing stuff is getting harder and harder. I'm at the Drs for a med review on Friday so will talk about it then. I think once DS1 is away and I know he is settled and happy it will be easier. He goes in 17 days and the living room is full of towels and bedding and all the numerous bits and pieces he needs.

I think it will be pizza for dinner tonight, so I had better go and make some dough.

Much love and hugs to everyone xxx

Hugs SDG please take some time for you to grieve

    cc enjoy your time off

FPK hope you are feeling better soon

SQ my OH is the same.

Day one of full on car shopping was not successful, I have a dilemma as to whether I buy a car that saves me on diesel weekly and ideal for daily runs bit inappropriate for longer journeys and trips etc. Or buy a car more of an all rounder but wont save as much on diesel.

I have another dilemma I would appreciate input on regarding the dog. His tests have all come back inconclusive and the vet has referred us to a specialist for further testing. The initial appointment is £200 and will be a gateway to alot of further testing. The thing is we initially went for his arthritis which is being ignored for the more serious issues which I am not convinced are giving him issues IYSWIM. Am I being awful in not taking him for the tests and wanting to wait until he is more symptomati

Hugs to all the poorly and stressed people.

Why are mens soaps all the same every episode? crab fishing, fixing old cars up, mens history - same episode replayed with same outcome  I also have to contend with cricket and speedway. Luckily Ds left sky in upstairs for him when he moved out so I do get some relief but then he hovers between his room and the model railway room (spare room in RL) with all the lights on.

Have spent the day making chutney, jam and knitting a father Christmas nightdress case who may become a comfy cushion for DGs.

I too must have been very very bad in a previous life, Cc hope you manage some 'Me' time in amongst it all xx

The chilli we had for tea was lovely. The chips however, were not. Never mind. I think it's the oil I used. 'frying' oil from Lidl. My guess is I need vegetable or sunflower oil. Maybe the potato choice - Maris Piper?

DH has had a hearing test today. It's been recommended he have hearing aids because of sound damage caused by working in the industry he has done for the past 12 years. We're a little sceptical as he went to an optitions for a free test. The hearing aids would have cost £1400 had he bought them there. We're wondering if it's a money making idea that doesn't really need a solution for just yet but 95% sure he does have difficulty. He is going to make a GP appointment tomorrow to set the ball rolling with a second opinion and if it is that he needs aids to make use of the NHS in order to get the help he may need.

I guess the answer to your car issue kidcat is to ask yourself why you are wanting to change up the car in the first place. If it's to save money on diesel then you maybe should be looking at that option? Your diesel bills are not something that our family could afford, in fact I earn only slightly more in what you pay for fuel. You have my sympathies.

Pooky she is going to Rochester third and final year so she will struggle as she has had a job before to supplement living costs but informs that she has too much work to do this year so will be penniless has informed me also she will manage as will not be doing any socialising either as too busy. I will remind her of this in a few months!!
Silvasava you could be describing my DH exactly what he does one job then man soaps.
Hope all eleven plus tests went ok today
Hugs to anyone that needs one

  • Evening all,

Some progress made on Mt. Ironalot...enough, I suppose. I've got more mint drying for tea and have disinfected the kitchen more thoroughly than usual.

Kidcat, what difficult dilemmas. I don't know what to say about the dog, except that there is something to be said for trusting your instincts.

I've read all the way through, but seem to have forgotten. Hugs to all who need them, I'm off for a long soak and an early night.x
  • Fuddle: the husband has a hearing loss due to his service in the military. He's been told his hearing aides will run about $4-6K for each ear. Thank heavens the Veterans Dept will pay for them.
