Behold! You see before you a snowball emerged from the gates of hell in pristine condition. I went to HB and the first loo seat I saw was a perfect match for the mirror and identical (except better quality) to the existing one. Result!

Reading through today's posts I am struck by the wisdom shown by everyone. Peoples' concern and desire to help each other shines through every post. What a blessing you are, all of you.

We were invited to have a snack in a pub near here with some folk we have got to know. In the car park was a fruit and veg stall - markets and stalls abound in this neck of the woods. I couldn't believe the beautiful produce, or the modest prices. Among other things I bought the most enormous cauliflower I have ever seen. It only cost 20p more than the tiny offerings in the SM. I foresee industrial amounts of cauliflower cheese being made shortly.

    Hello

Popping up to say, Monnagran have you tried cauliflower rice? You break your cauli into florets and blitz it in your food processor (you can grate it but would be a faff) spread on a baking sheet and put in oven for errm... You might like to check google.

I have it on a fast day on my 5:2, with veg curry or some such but it is nice in any case.

You (as in one) can also make cauliflower crust pizza, but I haven't been brave enough to try.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Happy to hear of your loo seat find monna, made me laugh. Love cauli cheese, will have to make some soon.

Stripey cat has decided to make his current bed on the bottom step of the stairs. Trouble is he is the same colour as the carpet and stretches himself out fully so hard to spot. We have tried to move him but he is having none of it. Just hope we can all remember to check for a cat every time we go up or down the stairs.

I love cauliflower rice and so has everyone I have introduced to it though I cover mine with cling film and micro for about 3-4mins. Also love the idea of the pizza but like you not tried it so if anyone has/does please let me know how it turns out xx

Just popped in to say good morning - had a manic day yesterday as I ended up with a few friends round last night straight from work!

Glad you found a suitable loo seat Mona! and one that matched the mirror - good result!

I agree Possession about helping out your friend - doing the school run will be a great help I'm sure - will save her trying to get washed and dressed with time pressures which when you are feeling unwell seems such a big effort!

At home studying today! So need to not spend the day on here! I only hadve 2 weeks now in my current job and really need to get the work based parts of my current module done - as i doubt i will be doing anything constructive in the first few weeks of my new job appart from meeting people! I had an emeail from my new boss saying my induction (from Oct to Dec!!!) is all planned - seems a lomg induction but at least they are giving me time to settle in! Feeling much more positive about it now!

My DD3 has now decided she will do the 11+!!! So I am now just going to keep it very low key - let her do it and not make any fuss! If she passes great - if she doesn't I will have to deal with the disspoinment then!

Onward and upward - off to try to understand the concept of intelligent leadership however I fear I dont have the inrelligence! Have a good day everyone!

I'm in an excitable mood as DH is working in Southampton today so going to go to Ikea to get the shelf and storage jars for extra food storage! It means that the only cupboard I have can be jam packed with tins and packets in store while the dried stuffs can be stored elsewhere. I am hoping to make a feature of the wall and make it pretty but that is secondary. I've wanted to do this all year but waited to see how the summer sun would effect that space.

I'm also excited that I have had the test results back. Bloods indicated normal so therefore not showing rheumatoid arthritis. I am very relieved to find this out! The x-rays showed normal knees also but we expected this to be the case as if there is some degeneration then it will be very early on and not likely to show. I am to have an MRI scan to look at the cartilage etc. Still, I am so relieved it's not RA as the chances were high as it was aggressive and debilitating for my Aunty.

I have had a busy day working today. I haven't stopped since 6.30am but pleased to have 10 minutes before tea making right now. I'm going to make a cheese and onion quiche for lunches over the weekend (I'm working) and then fish nuggets using up some of the fish DH caught.

The cotton sheets arrived yesterday and for the first time on my own sheets I saw that on sheets there is a smoother side and a rougher side. They teach us that in training (for the purpose of bed making to avoid bed sores) but never seen it with my carp sheets!

Relaxing evening ahead for me. I will catch up on some of my TV and do the shopping to be delivered on Sunday when DH is in although I have to admit I don't like him doing it because he doesn't separate my mince packs into smaller portions. Beggars can't be chooses. I need it in for Monday morning as eldest DD is making flavoured cous cous at school.
  • Hey FUDDLE wonderful news that it isn't arthritis, so pleased for you, let's hope they can quickly find out what it actually is and get you some medication to make you comfortable again.

We've just come back from a lovely walk at Lee on the Solent with the Dockling and have rediscovered the joys of sitting in the sun and eating a whippy ice cream cornet, made me feel 5 years old again and Docky had his very first taste of vanilla ice cream and liked it very much, but not the ice cream cornet it came in which he spat out !!! I visited a charity shop that usually has many interesting things in and was horrified that they had a price of £7 inside a second hand cookery book!!! what are charities thinking these days? where do they get thier pricing policies from? I certainly couldn't even begin to justify paying that for a second hand book no matter how worthy the charity or how much I felt I wanted to support thier cause, £7 is an awful lot of money and would seriously deplete my weekly housekeeping, crazy isn't it?

I've been asked to do a visit to DD2 and Zebra for a few days next week, DD has an exam coming up in October and wants some revision time and I'll sit on Zebra one evening and send them out on a dinner date, they don't get enough time on thier own so I may as well be useful while I'm there, yes? Looking forward so very much to playing with my baba again and seeing all the progress he's made and how much he's grown. I love this Oma lark, its funnnnn!!!!!

Great to hear it's not RA Fudds - nasty old thing that. Your storage shelves sound fab - plenty of ways to pretty them up and still make them practical.

Mrs LW - How old is Zebra now? I bet you can't wait!

Well Mum and Dad went home this morning (thank god - how horrible do I sound!!) It was lovely to see them but not for so long next time.

DD1 went on a "driving experience" thing this morning - speeding round a track in a ferarri - she loved it! (her 18th birthday pressie from grandparents). She's now gone off with another friend to climb in trees and do zip wires and stuff....she'll sleep well tonight. She's been a nightmare with her BF being up at Uni, as to be expected really....he invited her up next week for a couple of days between his lectures and before her freshers week stuff starts....cheered her up no end.

DD2 had her placement "look around" this morning - a gorgeous nursery school with sea views - lovely place to work and she starts on Monday...3 days there, 2 at college - she's going to sleep well too!!

Trying to summon the energy to cook dinner - I've caught up on all the housework that just got a lick and a promise this week, cleaned the fridge out, cooked a turkey crown (cheap in the butchers), cleaned out the parrot and got all the winter jumpers out of the loft.....managed to squeeze in a few hours work too so I feel justified in a complete slob out this evening....jimjams, a glass of something white and a bowl of home made chilli.......bliss.

Just saw on FB some of my friends all planning on a "girls night out", they're off for drinks at 6, food at 8 and clubbing at 11.......I plan to be in jimjams by 6, eaten, long before 8 and in bed not long after it! How rock and roll!!

Pooky - out of the two, a quiet glass of something with Dr Warlock at home and the dogs is my rock and roll these days! Hmm the decision is a DVD of Rough Science or Northern Exposure? :rotfl:
    Must use my stash up!
  • POOKY that sounds like my kind of evening, your version not the facebook one!!! Biggest luxury in the world? a bath followed by an early night to read my book and drift off to sleep gently, heaven!!!

Zebra was born on 29th January so he's 7 and 1/2 months now, is sitting on his own and playing with his toys, he's enough balance that he can adjust and pick things up and get upright again. He's eating solids and has courtesy of his holiday in France recently apparently developed a passion for french cheeses, french bread and perfectly ripe peaches. He's making many different sounds and is beginning to move round on his bumski and shuffle about. I see such big differences in him every time I see him it's amazing how I don't remember thoise changes in the girls when they were the same age, maybe too deep in to the hard work to see and too tired to notice, but I do with the baba and it's magic!!!
