Not been around all weekend so just catching up with the thread

Happy Birthday for yesterday Fuddle. Possession - moving home is a tough decision - I have been toying with it for a bout 2 years but it all scares me so much - the cost, choosing another house doing the removal on my own, risk of upsetting kids and starting again in a new home v more manageable home financially and physically - like you i could extend the term of current mortgage but long term not sure if that is the right thing - its all such a worry isn't it?

No cures for insomnia - i have tried different things - at the moment having night time tea is helping me get off to sleep but its the 3 am wakenings that are the worst! lack of sleep has such a negative effect on the rest of the day and how I cope with kids!

Anyway - back to work tomorrow after 3 weeks off! not looking forward to it at all - I have 3 weeks to go in this job before I leave and this 3 weeks is going to be spent tying up loose ends and writting plans for people to take on my work - it all feels so sad as I really didnt want to leave but have little choice - although I am looking forward to my new job!

My younger kids are at thier dads this weekend and although I have had a nice time catching up with friends I have had a horrible feeling inside that my ex is deliberately trying to stop me speaking to them while they are at his - and I know he is trying to convince DS to go and live with him! I need to decide whether to take the bull by the horns and take the situation to court! I don't really want to as I am not sure I can cope with the stress and I am worried that I might not get residency but this game playing is driving me insane too! Got a meeting at DS school on Tuesday to talk about his support plan following diagnosis of ADHD but it might be interesting as ex still denies that he has any issues and says its all my fault!

Just hope we can get DS the support he needs - he is so clever and loving but a real challenge in relation to concentration and behaviour!

Judi I did look into extending the term of the mortgage but over 10 years it would cost us far more than the costs of moving - probably 3 times as much.

Like I said previously its all matter of perspective. Some people like body art some don't.
I for one do, a tattoo can be a thing of beauty it all depends on what it is and what it means.

One of my friends has full nightmare before Christmas tattoo on her back. It's really good but its not something that I would want. Most people I know don't have tattoos.

I myself to have marks all over my body, they tell a whole different tale. These marks are scars from my life which other people have inflicted on me or my own self harm issues.

My tattoo is one bit of pain that I did for me, of brings me hope, its reminds of good and bad.

I also say you should never say no as I believe its stops you from accepting new challenges and you never know what will happen in the future.

Cake sorry to hear your going through so much.
    Judi and Mrs Horton hi!!

Hope things work out with your sons Judi

Possession - yes i have looked at the figues too - and my sensible MSE head says why would you want to extend term and pay more then my stressed head says well it has to be easier than moving! To find something that brings cost down enough to be meaniful that is reasonably ok is also a challenge! as you were saying they are often uninspiring to say the least! and I love my house! (on a good day when it is clean and the garden done!) but I know there is alot of wasted space and money and alot of maintenance that I am absolutely rubbish at! - Not an easy decision at all!

A quick good morning to everyone and hope you all have a good day
You know after I declined the party invite, I got a reply asking me to be a party host so I can get some freebies. Honestly! No way in a million years would I invite my friends to spend money most of them have not got. I have responded and I hope she gets it now that I am not interested.
Both DH and I had a bad night's sleep, me with my back so today will be a bit of a tired start to the week. DH has this week off but he has gone back to bed lucky man.
right off to rouse kids and get dressed
hugs wherever needed and anyone heard from PrincessX? hope you are ok if you are reading?
  • Well done SQ, the invite to host the party is usually linked to extras for the original hostess if she can get aquaintances to book thier own so don't feel bad about declining that either love, Lyn xxx.
  • Morning all,

Hugs to the cake and Possession and anyone else who needs them.

SQ well done for standing up for yourself. So many of these schemes are predatory--they get people to prey on their friends and then acquaintances. I've had several people I know who i thought were quite money savvy start up with various MLM schemes--some of them end up in debt, most of them end up losing friends, and I don't think any of them actually make any money. Of course the numbers are telling---the companies make their money from selling training and starter packs, not from selling the actual products.

I got back from Glasgow around 3 yesterday and quickly developed a sore throat which as of this morning is a full blown cold. However, the city was lovely and very welcoming. I'd love to go back for not-work-reasons and properly enjoy it. The work part of the trip went very well, now its just time to catch up on all of the work I missed while away and working all weekend.:rotfl:

The garden survived my absence, although a few more lettuces have gone into the slugs bellies. Its almost time to harvest some more mint for mint tea, and the courgettes are going strong. I had a mint tea from a tea bag in a cafe while away and realized how quickly I'd become accustomed to the homemade stuff!

Supposed to be nice weather, so I'll throw a wash in and then I think its laptop and paperwork in bed, lots of herbal tea and an attempt to get myself back into shape before next week when things really kick off.

I do say no in terms of a tattoo because I don't like them and don't find them to be marks of beauty. Everyone else around me can have one including my DH ;) but for me, my body, no. That decision won't stop me from accepting new challenges. :)

By golly gosh the shower decided to start dripping overnight. What a din! Going to try positioning a sponge to stop the noise until the LL can have a plumber out. At least that issue won't cost us money.

Speaking of which. My car is the the garage. :( I hope it's nothing too expensive. We've got it in with a friend of DH's work mate so hopefully there's some back scratching going on ;) If DH could pay in chickens he damn well would ;)

So house clean on the cards today. Will check the weather to see if it can go on the line. Lovely to be sat in a vest in the Autumn. No sign of needing the heating yet. Long may it continue although realistically I expect it to be on next week :rotfl:

Food wise consists of using up bits of chicken and bacon from feezer. Think I will try making the kiddies hm chicken nuggets.

Oh reminds me. Free school dinners for under 7's? I received an email on Friday from the school to tell me that all this week DD would be having packed lunch as the catering company struggled to provide hot food last week. They are using the week to update their facilities. DD is upset but it's short term. I can't help feel that this mass roll out of free school meals has been too much for everyone involved. It's definitely a big ask.
  • Morning FUDDLE glad you enjoyed your weekend at Legoland and hope the car is well again very soon without too much needed to make it so. The school dinners fiasco is laughable (if you don't currently have an under 7 who's entitled to them) it's wonderful as an idea but it must be an absolute nightmare for schools who have no kitchen and are dependent on a shambolic catering company that can't deliver. Typical of government initiatives isn't it, done in haste, enforced without thought and given to yet another incompetent company to facilitate. You'd have thought they'd have learned after the G4 fiasco that outsourcing important things NEVER works.

I'm another one that doesn't understand tatoos. I don't find them attractive on anyone no matter what age or sex, I see them as blemishes and I'm glad that neither of the girls has ever wanted one too. I don't mind if other people do want/have them though but I'm conscious of a feeling of distaste when I see them on women, particularly women approaching my age, odd but that's the way it is I'm afraid.

It's a lovely sunny day here and I'm going to have a cooking session and make some lentil soup for our lunches for a few days and a cake to have with our afternoon cuppa and then enjoy the sunshine, maybe even read a book out in the garden. I love this time of year when it's golden like today and always try to store up some 'sunshine' memories to see me through the damp cold days ahead.
  • Good morning.

My goodness SQ, your "friend" doesn't give up. I've been to a pampered chef party. The stuff is so expensive and no better quality that the high street shops. I certainly wouldn't be a hostess either. And if you need any help with high schools let me know x

The postman keeps walking across my front garden. I feel bad if I complain ( he's a nice man) but I feel it's wrong to walk across my grass, he's going to wear a path in it. What to do?

I've bought a blanket today in Ald1. I already had one from a few years ago for the living room but ds2 has taken it. And I was feeling a chill last night. The heating isn't going on till at least October. Out bills are horrendous in this house.

I'm off to do some housework now X
