Sq just politely decline, say something like I would to come but with the children and beginning of new school year I have to be with them at all times. Maybe once they have settled i might be able to come along.
PIC moving has certainly cost us a fortune and still not finished. But on the whole best decision. Smaller house, warmer, bills less expensive.0 -
Been out all day with my friend while she had her tattoo finished. Its absolutely lush.
I have no problem with tattoos, piercings, hair cuts or colour. Clothes only certain things.
My tattoo has special significance to me. Its a cherry blossom bracelet going around my wrist with butterflies.
It symbolises special and sad times in my times in my life. The butterflies represent those have passed on, such as my mother, my friend's, relatives and baby girl. But also my babies births
The colours represent them, the cherry blossom in Thailand through to the rose color shawl in the hospital.
I have it on my left arm as that's the one I always hold my babies with.
So it all depends on your perspective.
Personally I am of the belief that you should only get something permanent only do it for the right reasons so you don't regret it in later life0 -
Thanks everyone for your responses. I know what I am going to say now. I have to be honest with her, I just do but I am going to word it in a different way now.
Sorry I must have missed a post - hope you are ok the cake?
Your tattoo sounds beautiful Kezlou and all the more so because of its meaning. I have no problem with any body decoration - tattoo, piercing, make-up or equally nothing at all. I do think though that some people are sheep like and just copy trends for the sake of it - whether they truly like it, whether it suits them or their personality etc. It doesn't matter so much with clothes, make-up but tattoos are permanent so you need to be certain they are right for you.
I had such a lovely time at the party and it made a change for me to dress up a bit, do something with my hair, wear some bright lippy etc. It made me realise that although I am happiest in my jeans or PJs and slippers at home, the occasional.... well occasion is also a fun contrast. I like dancing and a bit of glitz just once in a while and I miss it. I felt like another side of me is buried at little and it shouldn't be. DH doesn't like a fuss, getting dressed up and definitely no dancing of any kind. Oh well my carriage has definitely turned into a pumpkin so best get off to bed now... back to sweeping the kitchen and washing smelly socks tomorrow as normal

Kezlou - yout tattoo sounds lovely and done for all the right reasons. I must admit although I against tattoo's its for the same reason as SQ - sheep! Having said that I have a tattoo'd 'spot' on my chest that was done to line up the linear accelerator for radiotherapy. If I wear anything a bit 'low cut' it looks like I've got a blackhead!! Do I dare to get it enhanced into something else? (VERY small)Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Thanks for your concern SQ, much appreciated! I had posted on the SHTF thread about my OH being sacked from work on trumped up charges, and having to go for litigation to sort things out (very complicated!!). We have already endured nine and a half years in litigation (on a totally unrelated subject), we won eventually but I wouldn't recommend it, as the stress and expense were horrendous. So here we are again .... I was very upset about it initially but now we will just buckle down and do it. If our initial battle taught us one thing, it's use the best solicitor you can! We got through three different firms before we eventually found the wonderful chap who won our case for us in a very short time. Yes, we are using that firm again, but have yet to work out how we will pay for it. That's a problem for another day. In the meantime - I keep waking up with all this Stuff swirling angrily around my head at about 3.00 a.m., and would love to hear anyone's suggested solution for insomnia, please? Thanks! xx0

Good afternoon all. Sorry, I tend to read this thread and not post much.
Saving queen, I don't know if you're near me but I do know a few things about high schools around here (I'm in Rayleigh) so if I can be of help, do ask x
Happy birthday for yesterday Fuddle.
Re moving. We did it last year. Stamp duty was the biggest expense. Am in the south east and we need a 4 bed as youngest as ASD so can't share. We couldn't find anything under £250k.
All of our bills have increased. Obviously the mortgage. Although we are quite conservative. The bank would have happily lent us £100k more :eek:We could have had a house on the newer estate. But they are poky in any case.
Removal costs were about £600.00-£700.
Gas/electricity/council tax cost us more. We are now on a water meter and spend about the same.
We haven't had to do much to the house, just cosmetic stuff. Much if which still needs doing!
Add up your expenses before deciding to move. Also get a few estate agent quotes. And do not use the solicitor affiliated with the estate agent.

Thanks for letting me know what's up the cake. I do browse the SHTF thread but not enough to be on the ball. No wonder you have insomnia, what a stressful situation. At least you have some practical experience and a great legal firm which will help no end. We had a court case a few years ago (long story but we were the "victims") and it was so stressful and "only" lasted a couple of years so I have a tiny insight to what you are going through. Wish I could do more than offer a huge hug and say please vent your feelings on here (or PM me) and don't bottle it all up.
Thanks Mrs MH - unfortunately we don't live where you do - life would be easier re schools if we did, though we do live in the wider area of the county. I may well have some Qs to ask you though so TIA! For the want of a different postcode.... sigh....0 -
Have to agree with the whole sheep and conformity. Going with the trend etc
Always been the black sheep, ever since being a child I have always dressed the way I wanted.
From the age of 11 my hair has been an array of colours and styles. I used my own money to do so.
My family were tracksuit non reading types while I was and still am an avid reader. I can't stand the idea of piercing children's ears, it's cruel and unnecessary.
I encourage my children to dress and have they own styles. Me I'm a total odd bod, right now I'm wearing black leggsings, blue flowered dress, purple thin long sleeve top, thick rainbow socks. Dyed black and blue hair tied in pig tails and purple nail varnish. Oh and blue reading glasses Lol not planned just first things in drawer.
I can't stand bandwagons, especially the ice bucket challenge really annoyed me. People didn't even know what it was supposed to represent.
Managed to get washing done today, uniforms all done. Clean bedding not bad for a slacker lol0 -
Sorry you're having all that stress Cake, no wonder you can't sleep. Fingers crossed it all works out for you and the solicitor fees end up being paid by the other party.
Fuddle I hope you had a lovely birthday.
SQ I always decline those kind of party invitations. I don't have money to spend on something I could get in John Lewis for half the price.
We have been to my parents for the weekend and as always they were an oasis of calm. They have sent me home with some cash and promised to help with bills. Bless them. Bit of cleaning when we got home and tomorrow the decluttering starts with a vengeance.0 -
Thank you for the birthday wishes.

We are back from Lego Land and have had 2 fun filled and busy days. As you know we're not one for theme parks but all of us have enjoyed it. It was something different which has 'theme parks' ticked off the to do list.
Having been paid on Friday I put the final bit of money in the 'nice sheet pot' I have bought Egyptian cotton 400 count sheet and pair of pillow cases. I hope that these will last beyond the year old bobbly ones I have now. They cost just shy of £30 from linenslim*ted online. A duvet cover is next to save for then the girls' bedding.
My car is booked in the garage tomorrow so a complete day off work for me. I'm not happy about it in terms of not being able to earn but thrilled at being able to sort my house etc.
No tattoos here and never will be. I have scars on my body that tell my life story in terms of markings. All my new friends down here have a tattoo of some sort, some of them huge ones. I've been accepted into the fold for who I am, not what markings I have and likewise, I'm one of them without thinking yeah or neigh about their markings. I don't find tattoos things of beauty but I certainly wouldn't pooh pooh a person because of having one.0
