I agree Ginnyknit - at the moment everything just seems so fraught and busy. I have a great house and lovely garden but just don't seem to have the time to enjoy it (or clean it!). I just need to get through this masters then no more work related study for me - going to start having a life! Next year my youngest will be at secondary school so life will change again as they become a bit more independant!
I have impressed myself today - I have recycled last years school shoes, rugby boots and trainers for my DS! In the past I would of just bought new regardless of whether they still fitted. I did have to buy new PE kit and tie but have bribed DS £5 to find his rugby kit in the lost property rather than spending another £30 on a new shirt - also told him if he looses it this year he is buying this new kit out of his own money!
Pooky I have to say I do love craft and really should try to do it more - my DD2 wanted everyone to do a scrapbook page for her 21st in Feb and I loved doing it!0 -
POSESSION I hope you've been able to come to terms with whatever the outcome has been over your job today, I'm sure you'll cope if it is redundancy and just remember that we are all here to help in any way we can be it making you laugh right through to practical suggestions to solve problems as they crop up. I've been thinking of you all day and hoping things are OK but sending you hugs and support in case they're not, Love Lyn xxx.0

Hello everyone,
Hope the funeral went off ok today ginny. Sending you special hugs.
Thinking of you too today Possession.
Sorry kidcat missed your earlier post, hope you are feeling a bit brighter. I feel a bit the same tbh, we haven't had the best of summers in some ways and today I feel very restless and jumpy. Sending you a hug too.
Well done judi with the uniform recycling. Which reminds me still have the PE bags to mend then its the blooming trouser hems which take me an age. Think that's it then.
Still I have tomorrow to finish up, plan to take kids to Allydeedums to choose some bits for packed lunches and breakfasts for their first 2 days back. Need a low key day but hoping to instil a little excitement to offset some of their (and my) anxiety.
I have nothing planned for dinner and really cba, isn't that awful? DS10 is at a friends so he will eat there (but come home and eat supper!). I am so so tempted to send DH to get fish and chips when he gets home while I wait for DS10 to be dropped off. I am trying to run the freezer down and have no frozen home cooked meals left and only "raw" ingredients in there and hanging on til the kids go back Thursday to do a big shop. I can't really concentrate on anything properly now til the kids are back. I am a daft one I know
off to do something useful, just haven't decided what yet....0 -
I am so sorry to read of unsettling news Possession. May whatever comes your way is of the lowest possible grade of upset, both mentally and in practical terms.
Welcome Judi I have enjoyed catching up of your posts0 -
Golly. I am so glad that my misfortunes are so entertaining to so many. I have made a careful note of those who are so amused. Be very afraid!
You are out of luck mm, I am going nowhere. In fact , I am going nowhere fast. I have been working my socks off for the past two or three days and now it only needs a final good clean through and I am visitor-ready - except for the rooms that are out of bounds. The rev and I have just put together two cr*ppy Argoose beds. The beds are grim but the language was worse. The beds we wanted were reduced to half price but, of course, there were none in stock. All we could get on our limited budget were two of their cheapest, so those we had to have as we needed them by this Friday. At least no-one will be outstaying their welcome. I have some old double duvets and will fold them up to put under the bottom sheet which should mitigate the discomfort a bit. The bedding we got is beautiful so at least they will look OK.
So, tomorrow is cleaning and Thursday is cooking.
First thing on Friday is a visit to the doctor to make her acquaintance. I wouldn't bother but I never got to see the doctor on the Island. I have a ten minute appointment which is just long enough to to let her know about one or two very minor imperfections on my otherwise exquisite body.
Welcome Judi. I think you'll fit in just fine here.
Ivy: I'm so glad that you are getting your toe sorted out at last. It must be very painful. Don't tell anyone on here about it though, they are bound to find it amusing.
Right, I'm off again to nurse my injured feelings.

Oh dear, we're taking Docky to see the vetty person tomorrow, his tumour has visibly grown and is causing him some discomfort and he's been rubbing it with his leg and on things and has made the skin over it red and sore. I hope they can give us some extra medication to stop it from hurting him as I know it will be hugely difficult to 'manage' if it becomes an open wound and will mean him having to wear a lampshade type collar all the time which he'll hate. Think of him tomorrow as we're there at 9 in the morning, I hope they can help, Lyn xxx.0

Huge gentle hugs to Dockling, you and he who knows for tomorrow - hope the vetty person can help.
Last day of the hols here and DD is sooooo ready to be back at school. We've had a massively busy summer as she can't sit still for 2 seconds and more than half a day in the house (even doing exciting crafty things or baking) sends her stir crazy and off into meltdown territory. By going out and about and keeping busy we've managed to keep meltdowns to a minimum with only one proper big one (and that was Granny induced!!) and relatively few smaller 'moments'. I do have to say though that it has worn me out and I am also ready for her to go back tomorrow, I'm really hoping that getting back into the school routine will help keep her chilled. Already organising October half term activities with a weekend away with a charity for blind and partially sighted children (hopefully) where we should be able to access some good help and support for some issues we are having with DS - we think that if he was fully sighted he would have let go of the furniture and be walking by now but he doesn't 'get' that bit and as he won't use a walker (because it restricts what he can do with his hands) he doesn't have that middle step to help him on to proper walking.
We had an amazing time at the weekend, meeting up with other families who all have children with the same genetic disorder as ours. It was a real positive too for us to see that although 'on paper' our kids may appear to have a greater level of disability than some of the other kids who are walking/talking 'better' - because of their mazing levels of determination, strategising and sheer 'can do' attitude they are actually doing more things independently or we can at least see that they are working towards an achievable goal of doing things independently.
Tomorrow will be a good clean of the house (as I have been sadly negligent in the hols!!), DH is going to cut the lawns and then revise for his resit and I am going to start on the boxes in the shed, bringing them in one at a time to find homes for the as yet unpacked stuff. I need to take a little time out to catch up on paper work and also read another chunk of the code of practice (the new SEND legislation which came into force yesterday) as now term is starting up again so will my forum work and I'm still only 3/4 of the way through the code - in my defence it is some 280 odd pages!!
DD now fast asleep, DS fighting sleep (but will get there .... I hope!) so I must go and sort out what DH and I are having for tea.
Catch you all later - X0
