Just spent tha last couple of hours in my DD1 bedroom - she moved out in August to start a new job away from home - My DD3 is moving from the box room into her room! It makes me really sad to see how much 'stuff' she had - granted I didn't buy most of it (she has had a part time job since she was 16) but clearly I have not taught her well about money as she has all this unwanted stuff and also a student loan and overdraft!!!

I found a lot of toiletary type gift sets which she clearly has recieved as presents but didn't want - is it wrong to aquire them and stash them for regifting?

anyway - hope everyone is having a productive day! Problem with focusing on one room in my house is that the other rooms get messier - came down to make lunch and found my DD3 with make up and kitchen roll coveing the dining room table practicing making wounds for halloween!!! what a mess!

Best get on with the room the plan was to get it finished today and look at the time!
  • Afternoon all,

Just having a break and a cuppa. Maggie the kitten is displeased with the new schedule as she prefers to play with my OH. It seems climbing the back of my desk chair is her alternative entertainment. I offered to play with her a few times but she just gave me those disdainful looks cats do so well.

Judi, it sounds like you've come to the right place. I don't think it is wrong at all to collect up the toiletry sets for re-gifting, or even just using them. If your DD doesn't want them I wouldn't let them go to waste. Of course, she may be 'saving them for best.'

Pooky I've just looked at your cuts and they are gorgeous.

I hope all of those who were off to school today had a lovely day and come home full of excitement for the months to come.

In case it is of any use, the most recent Aldi e-mail featured a number of prepping for winter things--rad reflectors, wellies etc.

    Right, back to it!

Thanks for the comments everyone - I'm glad people like my work - I'm nearly all booked up for the month and it's only the 1st!!!! :)

Judi - Gift sets - if she's not going to use them then get them regifted! I must admit in the past when DD's have had gift sets they won't use (both have sensitive skin) then I've used them to make pamper hampers for my niece or their friends. If it's something I'll use then it gets shoved in the bathroom cupboard and I work my way through it all (think there's 7 im-pulse shower gels in there at the moment!!)

Possession - would the redundancy cover the move? I think sometimes you have to put a really positive spin on to these big life events and make them work in your favour. But you're allowed a "it's not fair" foot stamping moment too x

Started raining about an hour ago and I forgot I'd left the parrot in the garden....bless her she was singing away hanging upside down on her perch having a good wash. She's now munching on a carrot and counting to 8 (but she's lost number 4)

I guess I'll find out tomorrow Pooky.
And by the way everyone I've had three papercuts from Pooky for family presents and they are fabulous. We visited DH's grandparents who have a family tree one yesterday, and his grandmother is still admiring it. It's their 74th wedding anniversary today which makes you think doesn't it?

((((HUGS)))) Possession, I hope you get good news tomorrow, but if not, as Pooky said, things have a way of working out.

Kezlou - Sorry you were feeling sad today. I hope DS enjoyed his first day back :)

    Welcome Judi :hello:

Hi Marie! How is your poor tummy? I have great fellow-feeling for you.

Pooky :rotfl: at the parrot! I suppose she was singing in the shower, so to speak. (I'll get my coat.)

I got on fine at the chiropodist's. He was really nice, has made my toe comfortable for the time being, and agreed surgery is the best thing. I'm having it done in a couple of weeks :j

    Hi Ivyleaf,

Thanks for asking, I am still waiting for a new date for colonoscopy, going to talk to GP to see if we can move on with hip enquiries, have spoken to my credit union and they reckon that they can lend me what I need......have been a member for over 40 years and repaid several loans so have a good record there.

    Nice to see you posting

    Hi all

Possession, hugs the uncertainty must be the worse. :grouphug:

Welcome Judi you have come to the right place. Sometimes I feel I don't feel I fit because I don't have the same ups and downs the others have.

If your daughter really does not want the toiletries of course there is nothing wrong with re-gifting them. I am sure we all would.

I think I would like the sadness of not having DS20 home all the time. He has been out of work well over a year now and he has not even had any work experience yet. It is supposed to be compulsory after 6 months.

Glad your chiropody appointment went as you wanted Ivyleaf.

Given the run-a-round buy the house agent this morning about the leaking bay window. I have heard nothing from the plumber so looks like that's yet something else that will not get fixed in this house. I am fully expecting our notice 2 weeks on Wednesday if not before. It is as well I did not unpack all my plates.

Yes Monna we all enjoy your humour, this thread will be sad without it.

I have been reading the knitting thread, Marie I enjoy your sense of humour on there along with Mardatha.

Pookie How do I look at these paper cuts everyone raves about?
