Morning all
Sounds like lots of hugs required in here this morning.
CC - Happy birthday x
Ivy - Good luck with your scan and tests x
Kidkat - Hope there's something the vet can do for your doggy x Glad you got the all clear at the hospital - how's he doing in himself?
I pootled all day yesterday, got lots done and felt a lot happier to sit down after dinner last night and relax, slept well too so it does have a knock on effect.
DD1 was out at a party last night (house parties seem to be quite common here at the moment as parents fly out on holiday and leave the "just off to uni" crowd at home....not sure I'd be that brave) Typically everyone arrived here to collect her just as dinner was ready so there were lots of "oooooh that smells nice" comments...needless to say they all got fed before going out. I had cooked lots intending to get some extra portions in the freezer, still managed to get 4 small portions frozen so it's a start.
Grass is cut, gardens are tidy (weeds are plants too) and I'm now going to sort my jam jars and get chutneying!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Decent sleep is so very important, glad you got some Pooky. The only way I have started to feel better after 3 long weeks was to sleep more which I managed at the weekend and on Monday.
I think I may change my username to Kermit-the-hermit as I/we have barely seen a soul we know all summer hols. Yesterday managed a quick trip into town, couple shops, library and our usual cheap caf!.
Today.... drum roll.... we are meeting 2 sets of close friends (mine and boys, nice when you get a mum and little friends package) to go bowling this afternoon.
Usually I arrange meetups with friends, think of venues to cater for all etc and invite kids' friends here but this year I have done nothing and no-one else has bothered much. I have just about got over the guilt and although it hasn't been the summer holiday I would choose, in some ways it has been good for us a family... getting through, making do etc. DS7 has never complained of being bored and once he settled into a new routine, he has been mostly fab finding all sorts to do. DS10 has been more of a challenge shall we say but has had his moments of fabulousity too. I notice he has little spots on his forehead today which adds to my belief that the hormones are gently kicking in.
OH and nearly forgot.... DH has passed another exam, 6 weeks we had to wait to hear. One last one to hear from, hopefully today and Celebrations -whether he has passed or not as he has worked incredibly hard and I am incredibly proud of him.0 -
Cc have a nice birthday hunny. x
Kidcat hugs for you and the dog x
Am going to enjoy a days sewing as the weather is awful here. As soon as I step out of the door, even to the bin, the heavens open.
Jayzee awful news, I thought all this out sourcing was stopping as the Brits prefer to speak to someone in UK :mad:Clearing the junk to travel light

hello everyone how are you all?
sorry haven't caught up with all.
we were out all day at york yesterday, my dad relented and finally came out with me and boys on the train. He loved it and wants asks when our next trip out.
DWP came and now they can start his claim for attendance allowance. The lady was amazing in a couple of minutes it was dealt and i'm now dads appointee for dwp!
saturday walked all over the cleveland hills with the kids. werecked the next day but it so worth it.
Finally had a chance to sit down today, put the washing out and it started lashing it down. But its all good, boys decided its warhammer video day.
catch up with you all in a bit x0 -
Ivy hope your test went ok
Pooky - yay for sleep, booo for teenagers eating all your dinners
SQ - sometimes its good to have a time to reset yourselves. I feel I have done nothing this summer, between hospital and car I have been unable to take the kids anywhere. We havent done much meeting up either, again because like you I havent done the organising.
Ginny - yes it was awful weather here this morning as well, typically I didnt take a coat to the vets this morning and ended up soaked and with a very wet dog.
Kez - glad you had a good day out
Well vet has taken bloods and is wanting a urine sample, she listed a few things that could be wrong, none of which are particularly attractive and all mean ongoing meds etc. She says he also has arthritis and possibly a hip issue known to labradors.
We will make decisions based on the results and go from there, she said today that old age is not a reason to stop treating pets but that she was unwilling to cause suffering, which is pretty much my view really. If we can treat him and give him a decent quality of life without pain etc then good, but if he is suffering then I won't go on.
He was incredibly good in the car but managed to wee on the doorway going in - he has no manners whatsoever, he also tried to eat all the foods they had out when she took him back for his blood work.
She says he is overweight again, but that it wasnt alot and realistically she didn't think we would be able to get him any lower considering his lack of mobility for exercise and his tendency to eat everything in sight!0 -
We have had aniinitial diagnosis of cushing disease for dawg. But she thinks it's possible he has a tumour causing the cushings. So he has to spend the day with the vet on Monday while she does a number of in depth blood test and gives a variety of drugs to see the reaction. He is also having an ultrasound to determine if there is a tumour. She says we can discuss what we wish to do when all the results are in on Friday evening.
Of course that doesn't address his arthritis but she can't treat that until the other stuff is under control.0 -

Go to bed about 3 30 ish lie awake till 4 30 sleep a few hours ,then up 6 45 ...has been this way since crash ,althougth I did always go to bed late...have promised myself I will go to bed tonight before 12 ....god knows what dh will think lol

Some good news to share - DH has passed his final exam and therefore the whole 3 year course. YIPPEE!!! We will celebrate with a pub lunch on holiday and then boys and I are baking a special cake when we return. He doesn't want me texting friends as doesn't like a fuss (was just about to send a round robin text as well) and telling most of family is out but I am bursting to tell someone other than the kids who are also very proud of their dad. Thanks for being here to share news with - you are all amazing!
Shattered from an afternoon out but so very good to see my friends at last and do something fun with the kids:)I am staying up a while just because I can and because I am definitely feeling better so another YIPEE!
DH brings home a free paper from his London commute and every week they have a style mag in it and every week I smile at the contents. For example today's had a selection of "stylish" things to buy.... anyone fancy a straw hat £145, a swimsuit £234, face oil £136 or maybe a box of matches with a stylish print.... a snip at a mere £22? Even if I was stinking rich, I could never spend £22 on a box of stylish matches!!!0 -
Well done Mr sq:T yippee
I am with you on the matches ,even if I had all the money in the world ,would I be spending £22 on matches ,I think not:eek: ...
