Morning all
Good luck to those awaiting A level results. DD1 already has her place confirmed but she will find out if her BF is about to head off to Scotland for 3 years.....I get the feeling she's going to be a bit grumpy for the next few weeks....young love!
Congrats to Mr SQ - who's a clever boy then!!
Kidkat - Hope doggy will be ok with all this testing x
Burtha - You need more sleep!!! I was sparko by 9pm last night (headache from hell) but I'm always in bed by 10pm.
For £22 for a box of matches I'd like them to clean the chimney, chop the wood, set the fire and keep it stoked all evening....everyday for 5 years.
Thanks for the heads up on the meat voucher Nutty, I shall go make use of that."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

:D:D
Kidcat - Hope all goes as well as poss with doggy xx
burtha - Glad to hear DD and Gd are doing so well
Lovely to "see" you kezlou. I was wondering how you were - I know you have an awful lot on your plate. Best wishes for the right outcome re your Dad's driving licence
Hopefully we will have monnagran back online soon. I know we all miss her!
And fuddle - I hope you're all fine and just busy
Thanks for the good wishes re my tests. The blood test went fine (except that it's been moved to a different floor in the surgery where there aren't enough seats for the number of people booked in *rolls eyes*). The scan went fine; I had a very good sonographer I hadn't seen before and she asked if I was having hot flushes (yes) and had I ever actually had a blood test to see what my hormones were doing (yes, but not for four years.)
Now waiting appointment with consultant, but I suspect there is actually nothing wrong and that I'm just one of a very small number of women who reach their sixties still not menopausal. Frustrated!
Sorry if this counts as being "medical", but i hope it can stay here, in hope it may help someone else.0 -
Lovely to hear from you kez
Will be nice to hear from monnagran, fuddle and other regulars when they get a chance to post.
A very late good morning to you all (been up since 7.15 honest!) Well I am feeling very nearly 100% normal -my normal anywayand it feels great! In the middle of a long list of tasks but will have a little afternoon nap later if I run out of steam.... do not want to be ill again before our holidays.
Using up fresh bits, just chopped up the free pineapple and melon DH brought home with the free £5 voucher recently and these must be eaten today as very ripe and lovely. Its a fine art running down your fresh food isn't it? Beds all stripped and 2nd laundry load about to go out. Various other bits done but many more to do. Want to sort house and food and lists today and then tomorrow will nip out on my own when DH is here to get a handful of bits and then cats off to cattery and packing - wish I could skip that bit especially for a good old British self catering holiday staying somewhere no frills
.
My friends were discussing one of their recent holidays abroad (cost £000s for a week for 3 of them) and asked how much our cottage cost and they nearly fell off their chair when I said £250 (and in peak season.) We do have to provide our own food (naturally!), bedding, towels, coins for the leccy and some petrol but even so when I compare it to their all inclusive deal, I know who had the best value for money. We will be in an AONB with views to match, log fire, farm animals, friendly locals and lots to do outdoors, what more could we want? It was so funny one friend asking who we booked it through (its just a private let) and how we booked - done by cheque and old fashioned handwritten confirmation letter in return.0 -
I just wanted to share the good news.
My DS1 has gotten his A-level results......A* in ICT and Maths and a B in Physics0 -

Well done to all those with good news today.
Kidcat - my SickDog had Cushings. When she was diagnosed they said that on medication they can keep them going with a good quality of life to 2 years. With SickDog she kept going and enjoyed life for three and half years until she died of something completely unrelated last year. I hope the result is just as good for your dog. As I said, vets can work miracles.Spend less now, work less later.0
