Well done Master SDG! Is he off to Uni?
All results from DD's friends are in and they all did fabulously and all got their first choice Uni's comfirmed.
Popped to use the Mr M's meat voucher and the heavens opened on the way back to the car, by the time I'd got DH in, his scooter dismantled and in and the shopping away I was soaked through to my knickers! Lots of very deep water to drive home through as it was just coming down so fast and then loads of lightening that trigged DH to have a migraine, he's now in bed sleeping and I've just played freezer roulette to get everything in."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Hi hoping to join you. I started reading from the very first thread that Kitty started back in 06 and promised myself that I would introduce myself when is caught up. What I didn't count on was how much you lot could chatter lol. Anyway here I am looking forward to joining in with the chatter, picking up some tips and hopefully contributing something useful now and again. I work night shift so posts at strange hours not too unusual for me. Feel like I know u all already so apologies if I sound over friendly at times.
Hope everyone is fine am away to get ready for work so will catch up on any news during my break. Good to finally be in the same page as u all xx0 -

SQ - congrats to Mr SQ

Pooky congrats to your DD as well.
Shanks - welcome
Jazee - thank you for the reassurance, we have however had further news and its not cushings any more, its his liver, they think it has a mass and are testing tomorrow to find the size, scope etc and take a biopsy.
Its been a long day and by 10am I vowed never to answer the phone again as having answered several calls all delivering bad news I didnt feel I could stand any more.
Mechanic called needing more parts for the car, thought I did well getting them ordered for tomorrow morning but he wasnt happy and I ended up travelling 35 miles to a different dealer to get them today, took over 2 hrs with traffic, rain and finding the place.
Went out this afternoon to try to get DD school shoes which didnt work and ended up using our merlin tickets to wander through the sealife centre for an hour, was incredibly busy though and people were not particularly wheelchair friendly.
Ended up taking DD into Liverpool this evening for her shoes and was thankfully successful, but it means I have driven 260 miles today!!
Came home and got a call from a very upset DD19 who has been dumped by her boyfriend whilst she was out, thankfully she is with friends and they decided to carry on their evening and not let him spoil their night.
And there is todays dilemma, I am obviously not happy that DD is upset and hurt, but I have to say I am incredibly relieved that this guy is gone, he has been a real problem since day one, he has her confidence at zero, manipulates her to do whatever he wants and takes every opportunity to gloat at me when he brings her home late.
I feel so guilty that she is hurt and that when she told me all I felt was relief.0 -

Kidcat - please don't beat yourself up that you feel pleased that a poor influence on your DD is gone. I have never had the conversation with my parents but I am quite sure that there are a couple of exes that they hung out the bunting to see the back of. With the benefit of hindsight I would agree with them! On the upside I am the person I am now because of my previous experiences, and some of those are down to dubious, unsavoury or even (on one occasion) downright psychotic exes. In many ways I'd forget or even wish some years of my past hadn't happened but if they hadn't I would not have been able to help others in the ways that I have in recent years. Hopefully your DD will come to a similar place, I just hope it doesn't take her as many years as it did for me - Hx0

Morning all,
warm welcome to shanks
big congrats to students and their families - SDG, Pooky and kidcat (if I remember rightly, apologies if not)
Oh kidcat - what a day for you love. Thinking of you all re your dog and hoping for better news soon. Thank goodness cars can be fixed and hearts can be mended - sounds like a painful time now will benefit your DD in the longer term, most of us have been there. Stilty, my dad didn't really like any of my boyfriends but some of that was done to him being a cantankerous person!
Busy busy today. Got to get cats off to the cattery which I hate, so wish we didn't have to but they have each other for company, very close brothers (like the kids.) need to pop out to shops, cook a lasagne, pack for us all, wash and dry last of the clothes and bedding, play tetris with our car and try and leave the house tidy. Oh and baths and hair washes for all too. Hoping the males in our household do their bit :rotfl: 2 of them are still asleep.
laters me luvvies0 -
Thank you all.
SQ car tetris is a woman solo game in my experience. OH announces every time that there is absolutely no way anything else will fit in car usually about half way through the luggage. I then end up stripping it out and starting again.
I am considering buying a roof box this year we ended up hiring one last summer and that did make things easier but at 50 to hire each time I feel buying makes more sense. But then there is storage of it to consider. I suppose I could strap it to the bike shed roof. Umm off to investigate

Hello all.
Kidcat - hope you have a better day today and that it is good news for the dog.
I'm feeling a little sad today as it would have been SickDogs b'day and I really do miss her and her little quirks. Make that a lot sad...
Its not been a great week with the job news as well, but hey peeps, onwards and upwards. It is Friday and there is the weekend to look forward to.Spend less now, work less later.0
