hi all :) catching up on the reading as per usual :) Today is wet but good for the garden and saves getting out the hose to water everything. I enjoy knitting too. I find it so relaxing and enjoyable. I joined a wee craft group in my local church and we spend two hours on a Wed morning knitting for charity (wee babies) which are sent abroad come November time. I have found it such a lovely place to be. The women there are so welcoming and we chat as we knit and put the world to rights as us ladies do :) Sometimes we make a little something to have a change on a morning say a hand made card, a little piece of jewellery paint a plant pot and add a wee design on it. I have made friends with some of the women in particular and as the group is closed until Sept again, we meet up on the same day in town for tea/coffee and a wee scone and chat away.:) It lifts our spirits and we can have a moan and a bit of craic :) So good for our mental health isn't it?
It seemed strange to pick strawberries in the rain :) but we have a bumper crop this year and will make a nice pavlova tomorrow. Is it true you must throw away the plants after 3 years? I think someone who grows them told me that?
I love reading about how you all are and this place is such a lovely warm welcoming place, quite special :) Hope you all have a good weekend love Margaret xx

Quick Question: are those soft grip clothes pegs worth buying? I line dry as much as poss and iron as least as poss. The only snag is the marks the pegs leave.sq :)

Yes to the pegs, the one's I'v got don't leave any mark's, got 'em from Wilko's,cost a £1, it's helped cut down on the ironing when it's just the bit where it's pegged out that need's doing.hth

Afternoon all, rain here this morning, has stopped now but its very overcast, not cold so thats a plus.

DS3 is on his way to collect the chair the family bought me for my birthday.....custom made and I think VERY expensive. Am planning on putting it in front of the fire place until I decide on a forever home.

Fuddle, I use a circular needle to knit blankets or if really big knit it in strips which I either sew or crochet together....I also have a pattern that never has more than 23 stitches on needles. Have done that so often that I dont need to use the pattern any more....if I find it you are welcome to a copy

Nothing exciting happening here, so will love you and leave you with a wish that you all have a good day.

    Afternoon all

My goodness it's silly hot here, the rains due in tomorrow so I've got all my washing up to date...we're all melting and I'm hoping there will be a storm tonight to clear the muggy air.

Possession - Glad Lottie went back ok - it's nice to know she was happy to see her foster family. Give your other doggie a big soppy hug x

SQ - Glad DH has finished his exams, when does he get the results? My DD's still love a picky lunch like that now, its their "go to" kind of food when they're both at home. I think they eat far more during the day with little bowls of dippy food than they do if they have a sandwich.

Kidkat - Hope DD can learn from her results but if she's anything like my eldest then she wont but she'll muddle on through anyway. You don't have much luck with cars do you? Hope it's sorted soon (hope DH sorts himself out soon too - he needs a bit of a talking to!)

Mar - Did you try the Mr A's vitamin thingies? I really notice when I stop taking them. Hope you get your "Marness" back soon.

Had a quick trip to Mr S this morning for a few bits and bobs, managed to pick up a lovely pair of short brown boots for £10 in their half price sale - they fit lovely and are just what I needed. Treated myself to a hairdye too as the sun bleaches my hair to a strange colour this time of year, a dye will just even it out a bit.

Depths of the freezer sausages for tea tonight with chips and peas - yum! (I hope it's yum, the sausages have been in there for about 18 months :))

  • POSESSION you've all been incredibly brave in putting Lotties needs before your own, It's what being a respobsible dog owner is really all about. The sadness will pass in time, and the news that Lottie is in the right home for her will come in the fullness of time. It's selfless love to act in the interests of the pet and not yourselves and makes you all very good and compassionate people. Lottie will hopefully find her own place very soon, and be a contented and happy dog in that place. I'm proud of you all, Hugs and lots of them Lyn xxx.

Ok, I think I'll have to pop out and fetch my roof back, I think one of the planes has took it with them.

Apparently all the tickets have sold out already so it looks like bumper to bumper traffic.........oh what fun, I did think of popping out and buying a load of ice lollys and sell them at the junction when the traffic comes out. They are always bumper to bumper as it takes two hours to get out of the airfield so tempers are pretty frayed, a nice lolly would cool you down no?

I could send out the smallest and tell him to put his cute face on, we could be millionaires by Monday :p

Just popping up to say thank you for all the suggestions for DH's birthday hamper. Will definitely include a running mag or two (or a gift subscription) plus lots of energy bars, packets of nuts, seeds etc.

Possession, so sorry, must be heartbreaking for you but done for the best.

Take care all, many hugs to those that need them. Must dash.

PIC - sounds like a plan - lol!

Margaret - You dont HAVE to throw the strawberry plants away after 3 years - its just that they are not as productive by then. You should have plenty of runners from the ones you have to replace the old ones.

Possesion - as Mrs L says you've done whats best for Lottie and that's the most important thing. Yes, you will feel sad 'cos we do love our 'furbies' & they become part of the family so its very hard to let them go. Sending you a very large hug for being so brave.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

thanks Pooky - should get one result (from few weeks back) next Tuesday and the other two by early August - re-sits if needed are 2nd week of August so timing is tight!

Got the fruit and voucher, no Monsieur Ms near us but there is one near DH's workplace so he had his instructions to bring back soft fruits - lightest for him to carry and a more expensive treat. DS10 and I polished off a punnet of heavenly raspberries today, another to eat tomorrow and also a punnet of strawbs which DH and DS7 will eat. Remembered had a small rub of YS double cream bought after Xmas so that is defrosting for tomorrow. Virtually free berries and cream, happy SQ :D
