Debenhams have a sale on too.

typical :rotfl: I haven't bugetted for it yet. I will wait for the next lot. The sheets aren't desperate. It's more of a want/plan for the future than a need at the moment. I will go look at prices then I will know what to expect ;):D

2 slices of toast for breakfast and a cup of tea. It will see me through. Wish me luck today. I have been given the lunch call of a cantankerous chap today. He tests every bit of patience/niceness in me. I have to bite my tongue and take the rudeness. I love my job but I don't like this call :(

Carbonara for our tea. I'm going to try my hand at garlic dough balls again and hope for something better than little bullets this time  :rotfl:

Poor Fuddle :( Are you allowed to tell him he's being rude? Is it possible he simply doesn't realise?

Thank for your comments about the veg-growing. Someone else said (I think it was Lyn, not sure) that runner beans could be grown up a fence, so we might try that next year, though it would mean getting rid of an ornamental vine which doesn't flower much any more.

I feel for you Fuddle. I know my 92 yr old grandma can be rude to people, I think she genuinely doesn't realise she's doing it, she was always opinionated but she used to have some restraint. Now she has none. She has come full circle and is once again the centre of her own universe.

    Morning all

please say hello =from me to both kez and Mrs C if you get a chance kidcat

fuddle - :p to the grumpy old man. My dad and MIL are amongst the rudest people (at times) I have known. If it helps blow a raspberry "in your head" IFYSWIM. You may need to be polite and professional to your client but no-one can control what goes on in your head! :D

feeling quite chilled which is good for me but not good for the list of chores ha ha. I have actually run OUT of a couple of things and running very low on others. This is most unusual but there is an explanation - I am running down all the stocks in our spare room in prep for turning it into a bedroom plus our finances are not in the best of shape after a couple of big spend months and more to come. Also running down Mr Chesty who needs a defrost. Also been thinking about how everyone in our house assumes we have plenty of things to choose from to eat, drink etc - and it won't do any of us, kids in particular, any harm to have to "make do" ( I use the term loosely) with an alternative sometimes. I have lots of ideas for saving the pennies, all involve effort - surprise, surprise and feel up to a challenge. I can't afford to let our finances start to slip.

Had a simple weekend but so brilliant to have DH present and not studying. In the little slot between rain he tackled the hedge which was seriously overgrown and has made a good start on the lawns - so bad they will need a second mow. Played some games with boys, DS7's current favourite is his version of tennis with a balloon - the balloon was a freebie and it has stood up to hours of serious bashing. How needs toys?! DS has me in stitches, he makes the groans tennis players make.

Deadline for going to GP (my deadline) about my back is today and as it has definitely improved, I am not making an appointment. DS10 has a sore eye, think its just a stye but will need to keep an eye (pardon the pun) on it.

Better get on, need to wash my hair as somehow missed its Sunday dunking (in the bath) and then a trawl round several shops to get food and bits we have run out of. Also need to make a batch of mince for a lasagne later.

Why not use the vine as support for your beans? We grew purple French beans last year which looked very striking in flower and when producing the beans, maybe some of those would look good? You only need a few plants to feed a couple, believe me!

Brief visit as I'm trying to sort out the hell hole that is my office. Well, that is a bit grand to call it an office, it's a corner of what we even more grandly call 'The Resource Room'. The resources being mostly 'junk'. Anyway, it is my resolve to get as much as possible packed into a cardboard box and then beat a path to the ironing board. That is where I will be bursting into noisy sobs.

The Rev has offered to get lunch today and I've already had to yell downstairs that I can smell burning. And this is supposed to be my treat!

Will try to catch up later.

Had a look round a local Garden Centre last Thursday & saw they had Runner Beans growing in a large bag. I have limited space so I think I'll pinch the idea for next year 'cos I could plonk it in the flower bed behind some shrubs & enjoy the flowers & the beans - might be a good idea for anyone else who'se short of space?

I planted 6 runner bean plants, 4 pea and 4 mangetout, 4 courgette and 4 tomatos....we're over run with peas and mangetout at the moment and I'm picking at least one courgette a day....the beans have all flowered so wont be long (they look like triffids) and the tomato plants are ladden with tiny little green toms...all this is in a raised bed that's 5 ft by 2 ft and a few pots - it's surprising how little space you need.

Wow - well done Pooky. Doesn't home grown food taste so much nicer? Especially as you know its not been sprayed or fed with nasties. I put my raspberry canes in a small raised bed & they've done really well. I can never resist one in the pot & one in my mouth..............;)
