Fuddle .... I tried cooking tripe once. Followed the recipe to the letter. It was like eating phlegm. Never again!

.I used to work in the bed and bath shop department in a big department store begining with Deb and ending in enhams, I used to make up all the display beds and spent hours each week ironing sheets and duvet covers.

My Dad used to love chitterlings/chitlins and would let me share them. (I was about 4 - 5) I thought they were yummy, and couldn't understand why my Mum wouldn't eat any. They are cold, cooked, pig's innards, I think?

I used to share his black pudding too, then when I realised what it was made of I wouldn't touch it...recently discovered its joys again though :D

My dad is from Manchester and he used to have tripe. He was the only one in the house I might add, and he soon got out of the habit.
Pooky Sapphie is managing just fine, much better than I thought she would as she's never been an only dog. I guess Lottie just wasn't very nice to her. She seems to have visibly relaxed and her behaviour is much better.
Kidcat that's hard to know what to do about DS isn't it. Do you think he'd settle once it wasn't all new and different?

He wants to do IT and has done two other sessions, but both were evenings so much quieter and yesterdays was more focused on the other IT course as there are two different ones who were merged yesterday.
Am hoping its a blip and he will be ok when its just his course and the support is in place. My worry is that having not been into his tutor group for weeks he is out of practise and will be less co-operative the longer he is off.

Possession - so glad Sapphie has settled more :)

Have managed the gym this morning and have come home washed dishes and tidied up etc and was planning a sneaky nap, I have parents evening tonight and then a meeting at DD8 school which means I will be out until 9pm. However my friend has been texting how upset she is that her mum has been moaning about her house not being tidy enough or clean enough, and now she is feeling depressed. She wants to go out for a few hours.
I know it sounds awful but I just groaned as I really am exhausted and am fed up of her mother saying these things. Its been going on for weeks and I have offered lots of advice, ranging from limiting contact with her mum for a bit through to organising the house tips. But she is unable to stand up for herself and break out of the situation.
Her house is bursting at the seams and does need a sort out but in reality unless her husband and kids get on board she cannot win, and they currently are all walking all over her.
Either way I am not sure what the mum gains from the persistant putting down and attacks but if she is trying to push her child into depression and suicide she is well on her way.

Kidcat I think your friend just has to stick up for herself, with her whole family, that's not anything you can do for her. I sympathise with giving the same advice over and over till it feels like you're talking to a brick wall, there seems to be a lot of that here at the moment! In fact I'm trying to limit contact at the moment with someone who is doing just that.
Currently have the engineer here fixing the dishwasher (again), he's had to take it apart completely and it had multiple things wrong with it, but hopefully by the time it's all in one piece again it might actually work and be like having a new dishwasher it has so many new parts. :) And a plus point, Sapphie has been fine with him. Lottie would have had to be locked in the garden. Which is not to say I don't miss her or think about her because I do but it is nice to not be on edge all the time.

The freezer is fixed, no more beeping! It only took about 3 months.
I do have a broken sat nav though, it keeps telling me I'm in Wilmcote, which I'm not and haven't been for months. It therefore makes all instructions to turn left or right rather suspect. We are off to Cornwall soon and I can't even contemplate it without sat nav. How technology changes us eh?

Thank you so much for that. Saved me from

Monnagran fill 'em and sick 'em in the back of the car... ok so you may have earmarked the back for something else but all hail the basket!

Remember I was asked by water company to pay direct debit of £30 per month just for water (sewerage is different company) and I refused as I thought it was extortionate? Well the bill is in. We used £13 per month. That's one in the eye for the forceful operator (even though she doesn't know it :rotfl: ) So now I know to set aside £13 a month and pay what I am due without having £17 of my money every month going to pay for something we wont use. The idea is ridiculous! Ok, I shall calm.

Best get my raincoat, 'tis thundering here. :D

Can I just say (and it's not OS in the least) that I just love my new toy - (a cordless stick hoover ) Oh my goodness how lightweight and easy is it!!! It's got a mini hoover (akin to a dustbuster) in it that you can take out and use on it's own (but much more powerful than a dustbuster type thing. Charges in 4 hours and then you have 35 mins cleaning time - I've used it 3 times already today - did the stairs in under 2 minutes with no restrictions on wires and no lugging a heavy machine up and down. It's fab!

And no, it wasn't cheap but I used survey money and birthday money for it and it will be worth every single penny - my back will thank me.
