your new toy has me thinking Pooky - I'm sure we have a dustbuster around, bought when I was pregnant as DH didn't want me lugging a hoover around. Hmmmmm. Good for you getting it anyway, you're right your back will thank you muchly.
good result with the water fuddle, I had the same with both our gas and electric, currently paying £7 a month gas due to building up a credit.
Possession :j to the freezer. You will be beeping in your sleep though for years to come... :rotfl:
kidcat sorry no help re college but hope it all works out for your DS one way or another. Stressful all the education stuff isn't it? Well done on fitting in the gym. I am planning an easy start back at mine before the week is out.
car has spent the day away from home, day trip to its favourite garage. had it serviced and couple of minor tweaks like new windscreen wipers and the air con done. Not had any aircon for couple of years at least - feels a luxury to get it back, thinking of our long motorway drive oop north in August and all 4 of us hayfever sufferers. Glad to get the car sorted but another £300 and car tax paid today so best part of £500. Financially things are crazy for us at the mo. Still I am feeling like I could do with a challenge as if tutoring DS10 before his selection tests isn't enough!!
BUT some good news. DH has passed his worst exam paper... financial statements, exciting stuff. 2 more results to come later but DH fairly confident he has passed those.
promised a game of balloon tennis with littlest SQ and then kitchen duties and DS10 study time, off I go

I do have a broken sat nav though, it keeps telling me I'm in Wilmcote, which I'm not and haven't been for months. It therefore makes all instructions to turn left or right rather suspect. We are off to Cornwall soon and I can't even contemplate it without sat nav. How technology changes us eh?
I tryed using the crap nav on sunday, OH is having a passport interview and I'v never been to shire name's city, got well and truly lost and browned off with the blasted thing, it's no good telling me 3rd exit on the roundabout when I'm on the thing and in the wrong lane, just wish I could find my map book, I can do long journey's with that.£71.93/ £180.000 -
boultdj - I did chuckle, we have a new satnav that is supposed to cater for caravans. Only trouble is you have to programme it for each journey. DH was NOT amused when it sent him through narrow cobbled streets when we were in Italy last month. Must admit though we've often been round a roundabout 2 or 3 times either 'cos we've missed the turning or to get in the right lane AND I use a map as well - lol
Cloudburst here at the moment & the road outside is flooded 'cos it looks like one of the drains is blocked - still, the garden could do with itSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
I use the Gtech AirRam in two lady's houses and I love it for the very same reasons you mention Pooky. When I'm in need of a new hoover I will be looking carefully at the rechargeable cordless market. I have hoover envy alright
So you think it will be better off knitting panels of blanket and stitching together? I think each panel in chunky yarn with one cable going up the middle. I have dabbled in simple cable before so wouldn't take much to get the hang of it.
Also can I ask about The Edinburgh Woolen Mill. Are they 100% wool/cotton at fair prices because they are hight street? I am looking for a work cardigan for the autumn but I don't want non of this fast fashion carp any more. I would like an investment piece that will see me through but realise that it will mean pricey. I am in two minds whether to knit or to try to source. Any ideas/opinions?0 -
Last cardi I got from EWM was Man made fibres and not brilliantMust use my stash up!0

Good evening, I remember that Edin Wool Mill products were being manufactured in the "sweat shop" that burned down in Bangladesh, I think I saw it on a TV documentary. It might not mean that quality is not good but that the brand is not all it seems to be marketed as.0

Hi everyone hope we are all ok. Its rather humid and thundery where I am at the moment. Today has been a really slow day at work, no one really about so the day has dragged. When I finished work I drop youngest DD off to hand in her CV for a couple of jobs. Fingers crossed she gets one of them.
I made a very important decision today, I booked an appointment for hypnosis. I need to loose a couple or more stone in weight, I am also on my AD tablets and would love to know if there is a specific reason my depression. I am a little nervous too.
Eldest DD is busy selling things on facebook, all helping toards costs of curtains etc when she moves.BSC member 137

Woohoo Sheila, well done
Thing is about sweatshop info is that there is non. I have looked online for comprehensive data and still drawing blank really. It tends to be hear say and opinion. I would like a good garment for a fair price that reflects the work gone into it. It is really bugging me that so much is overseas produced and not at all transparent.
Sheila I saw an advert last week advertising air con regassing for £49 too. Seems the price is about right. I don't have air con in the micra, just an open window, sweaty brow and 1 suntanned arm! :rotfl:0 -
Can someone tell me - what constitutes a high thread count for sheets?
And would i have to iron them.
Stop swearing please
It's youngest boys Birthday in a couple of weeks and he would have loved a spandangled new bike at over £400 (nearly £500 when the bits have been changed) DH found a second hand one for £100 and he's delighted.
He's not allowed it until the day but he's allowed to clean it :rotfl:
Once upon a time I would never had considered a second hand BD gift .........oh how I've changed.
We would never have paid £500 on a bike, we could barely pay that on a car but at least he had got what he wanted albeit with a couple of scratches.
