THRIFTMONSTER....I always pay by DD, I thought and think its the best way .....I like to pay as I go along, and I normally phone my readings through during the winter months so I dont get into debt with them, I pay £97 per month for elec and gas and im usually well in credit by spring by at least £300 , which they send back .........

It sort of works out about £8 per week for gas and £7 per week for electric, which im ok with as I do normally have the heating on from 6 am to 6 pm, then I light the front room fire for the evening ........

I didnt think energy suppliers charged more for DD s , but I may be wrong......
We got loads a wind today and no rain , real good drying day ......Suppose to get to about 25 in next few days here in Suffolk....
FUDDLE....Yea I agree with you over the water bill DD s , they always want more than you will ever use, I had a job when I phoned them to get my DD s reduces as OH not here now so I know I wont use the same amount of water , eventually She did reduce it by half.........

Ive also shopped around for the house insurance and saved about £326 per year from giving up barclays insurance to go with Admiral and got platinum cover , also in Admirals insurance it includes boiler cover , which I was paying separately to a boiler firm at £18 per month.......So that is a massive saving per month on just a couple of DD s.........

Also I was paying RAC breakdown £11. per month , so I phoned them and said I want to cancel the DD because its far too much each month, so the man said hang on a few mins and I will see what I can do , he came back on the line saying would I stay with them if they put the DD to £5.83 per month so I did....I also phoned SKY and got that reduced to £32.00 per month from £36.00 per month....We have never had the movie channels on , but now got rid of history and geography .....

It pays to shop around for all the household bills and see what you can save on them, it may take up a morning to get it done , but so well worth it when you get a majority of household bills reduced..............

They dont phone you to reduce your bills , but if you say
" well I wont to leave because your too much money ", they soon try to keep you...Makes you wonder why your over charged in the first place........Take all sheila

Well done Shegar - what a saving you have made! I shop around for everything but we have a couple of utilities I need to look round for better deals for again. Our house insurance is always high because of the uncommon build (cheap as chips) and many companies don't want to insure or charge even more than the company we have had for a few years. I know its not just me being lazy because my next door neighbour had to ask me for a recommendation for her insurance.

Totally agree with you Shegar. Had my car insurance renewal through. Last year it was £150 - this year £195!! Had a shop round & got it for £135 with the Coop and I did it through a cashback site with a £60. cashback! If it all goes through OK my insurance will have cost £75 even if it doesn't I've still made a saving on last year. Been thinking of changing to a water meter as there's only the 2 of us now & the price of solar panels has come down considerably ..........think I'll think some more

Well pleased to say DH wasn't asked to cancel our holiday, in fact he was worrying about nothing and it was potential good news instead which may lead to the job being permanent rather than a year's contract.

It definitely pays to shop around, Im ok now ive sorted all the household bills DD s for a year ,but this time next year I will spend a day going through it all again, its so worth it ....House insurance is the big one you must get right cover for , and always read the small print so important more so if your a home owner.......

I had to make sure my trees were a certain distance from the house as well , so much to check over before buying that insurance.......

We have a lot of wind here tonight, it is suppose to rain , but whether it will it remains to be seen, the ground is so dry m having to keep some of the garden watered feels like a regular chore.......I havent planted any new plants this year as I have a perennial garden , so plants dont have to be watered so often ...I didnt hrow any vegetables this year either .....

I did buy 12 POL hens 2 weeks ago and they have now started to lay , lovely orange yolks, I now have 37 hens, they have a fenced in part of the garden with a nice dry shed to lay in , I do love my hens...Well im gonna stop yacking and go make a fudge flavour drinking chocolate :D....Sheila

Another busy week here at chez stilty - I managed to step up my role with the parent carer forum at the beginning of the week, obviously didn't sit on my hands quick enough - lol, but I'm actually pretty excited about it - already had a little success with something I've asked for from county so feeling pretty good about it. Had 3 meeting yesterday - OT about the stairlift, a steering committee meeting and then someone from the HA for a new tenancy meeting. Today we picked up the new car so DH is pretty excited!! and then it was sports day this afternoon. DD was in 3 races - the first was the reception sprint - we were kind of, uhh?? DD in her walker?? Well she lined up with the others - then set off with her TA on one side and her class teacher on the other urging her on and the entire school - pupils, teachers, TAs, a few random dinner ladies and pretty much every parent there cheering her on as she trundled down the field coming triumphantly, and very definitely by a long way, last in the race but definitely the biggest winner of the day - I was so glad of the sunglasses to hide the leaking eyes! I am so in awe of my little lass, she really is something else entirely.

Tomorrow I'm at school for TA interviews followed by a different OT and physio for small boy and Friday I'm off to a strategic planning workshop for converting statements to the new EHC plans .... and you know, some people say I don't work!!!

Catch you all later - X

    Hi all :)

Been ages since I've been on here. Tried to catch up with you all.
Were all doing great, business is going really well, had a trial run of an apprentice, went really well . ds1 is prepping for September. Scary starting his exams. Find ou next week whether he's doing combined or triple science GCSE. Ds2 is his usual bouncing self and coming along really well.

Found out my dad has vascular dementia, buts its a blessing in disguise. He's finally left work together and is much more relaxed. Filled out massive amounts of paperwork regarding power of attorney and bebfits checks. Adult services have been brilliant so far.

So its all looking good :)

Hope everyone's well speak soon xxx

What a lovely sports day Stilty. It's my DD's today, along with maths market and the summer fair all rolled into one so a bit full on for me.
  • Morning everyone, we had such a lovely day yesterday visiting DD2 and the Zebra child, he recognised us as we walked in to the house and was all smiles and cuddles, that's the first time and so very special. We played all day and he and I went for a walk and got flowers for mummy and found him a new toy in a charity shop, it's a bell shaker that's really a musical instrument but he was mesmerised when I shook it and reached out his little hand for it in the shop, then kept making it jingle when we got home too, he's coming on in leaps and bounds and can almost sit up on his own, he just needs the balance to happen, he's such a strong laddy.

Going in to town today to visit Alidees and the 99p shop for a few bits and to visit the big library as our little one (we're lucky to have it still) doesn't seem to be having any new books of late and I've read all those by my favourite authors. Have yourselves a nice day, Lyn xxx.

Morning All - hope the sun is shining where you are!

Possession - Fingers crossed for DH

Stilty - Oooh what a lump in the throat when I read about your DD - well done her & big gold star for effort!

Right - off now to take DH to pick up his car after mending a bump he got on holiday & then cleaning the front windows before the sun gets on them
