    Hugs to all in need.

PIC excellent idea selling lollies - you would make a bomb!

I used my Mr M voucher too and stocked up on Oh and Dgs's fruit for the weekend, also got apple pies for 19p :j Did a minimal shop as funds are low but am almost through the contents of the freezers now so can sort them out and refill. Its rained all day here but am quite happy as its watered the garden and cooled everywhere down.

Hope everyone has a great weekend free from stress and struggle x

A lady gave me a cuppa today... rhubarb tea. Bloomin' lovely!

Monna I have reading material to take with me this afternoon. :D thank you muchly.

Diving into a ploughman's before the afternoon shift till 10pm. DH has been buying cheese and ham from the market. Myself I am not too sure but apparently refrigerated.

Making a lady's bed this morning I commented on her lovely sheets. They are 15 years old and in better condition than my bobbled ones that can't yet be what? 3 years old? Where do you buy bedding from toughies? Do you invest to last or buy cheap to replace?

I need a new tyre. DH is going to take my spare and see what favours he can wangle to get the costs down. Even if he can't do anything about cost, by doing it that way then him changing the tyre it means I can keep the car on the road and keep earning.

Off to go eat some fruit and yoghurt, fill my travel mug (coffee, been up since 5.30am to get to a house miles away from me by 7am and I am now feeling it!) Thinking of crocheting a sleeve for said mug to help it keep temp in winter. Also need to get a hot water bottle for the car for winter. Because I turn my engine off when waiting to go into houses I obviously loose the hot blowers. As the car is cracking on in years it doesn't keep it's temp very well which mean I go into houses with cold hands. Ordinarily not a problem until I have to assist in washing a person.

Afternoon me lovlies, hope the poorlies are feeling better?

Not long back from a trip into town with DH and our boys. First time in a long time we have done this together and it was lovely just being all together - been waiting for this weekend for a long time.

Bought a few bits in pound shop (no rubbish I promise), treated ourselves to some chocolate for family TV watching and milk etc. DS7 spent some saved money, some from 2013! Bought something I think isn't worth it but its the going price and he really wanted it. DH had a long overdue haircut and I popped into a couple of charity shops without changing rooms. If no good they will happily refund though I don't like returning items, I can't afford not to. All the other chazzas have changing rooms and also tend to charge more.

DH said he would take boys out to a favourite walking spot but its a fair drive and the tennis is on and I have a feeling they will stay home now. I am chilling for a bit then a bit of cleaning and tidying around, some dishes and making a fish pie. Berries and cream for pudding.... drooling at the thought.

fuddle - an obvious tip but wrapping yourself in a fleece whilst you are waiting will warm you up and handy to keep for emergencies - you probably already have a blanket or two in the car already I guess. I wear a pair of driving gloves I have had for about 25 years which really help - worth investing in a pair??

I look for good quality bedding - can't afford the best but also don't buy the cheapest. I buy cotton sheets and they last quite a few years. The marital bedsheets are patched where the cats have made little rips in them and age has worn them. I haven't needed to do that with the boys and I wouldn't (unless absolutely had to) as I don't want their friends noticing. I have also made pillowcases out of the less worn parts of old cotton sheets so their value stretches further.

    Afternoon all

Woke to heavy rain and raging winds - wind is still whipping round but it's blue skies and muggy again.

Just dropped my halogen oven over at the inlaws as their oven has given up - they're having a new kitchen installed after some building work in the next few months so didnt want to replace theirs now.....hopefully they'll get on with the halogen, I will miss it but am happy for them to borrow it.

Popped to Lidelelele for a few bits and it was their 75% off sale - it was so busy, I did pick up a couple of fleece sheets for the girls beds, they look so snuggly - the singles were £5 and the doubles £3 - go figure! (luckily I wanted doubles)

Making a vat of chilli for tea, some for tonight, some for next weekend, will pad it out well with veg (and lots of courgettes as I'm having a run on ripe ones at the moment) Might even whip up a batch of fairy cakes for this evening....I seem to have a very sweet tooth at the moment which is most unlike me.

Fudds - You need a high thread count cotton sheet to stop the bobbling but they're quite pricey - keep an eye out in charity shops or bootsales, I often pick up new looking sheets for 50p or so.

An old school friend dropped off a bag of baby clothes earlier so I can make her little one a memory quilt out of them, I shall get busy with the scissors later and start cutting them all up (she said she can't make it herself as she can't bear to cut into the clothes), I've found some retro jungle print fabric to back it with, hoping it will look good.

  • FUDDLE I try to buy my sheets at Debenhams when they have thier blue cross sales, I like fitted sheets and go for polyester blend and I've had some of mine for 10 years now and they are as good as the day I got them, no bobbling, the elastic still stretchy and the stitching all still pristine. They're not the cheapest place in the world to buy from but they are good quality at a price I can afford in the sales. DD1 buys organic Egyptian Cotton in John Lewis, I look at the prices and flinch but I do enjoy going to stay in her spare room, very classy!!!

FUDDLE...I always buy the best quality I can afford , usually the NEXT sale , ive had some of my bedding at least 8 years and still going strong, very little colour lost, no bobbling and some of them dont need ironing ......

But I also do the Debenhams blue X sale, you get what you pay for......Also I was given a John Lewis christmas voucher last year so that went on a lovely gold coloured throw for the bed .............It really isnt worth buying cheap materials at all, do it when the sales on , that way you get the best for half price....:D

Woke up to a little rain this morning , but this arvo was very nice and sunny , not much went in the water butts , all the rain did was wash the leaves down and dampen the dust.....
Im still trying very hard to sit on my butt and rest my feet , Im gonna go insane with it , I just cant sit still for no more than 20 mins , id rather hobble about than sit , the head is active but my poor body isnt.......

When I went to drs yesterday to get this depression sorted I did tell him that people are noticing that my hearing isnt that good, its a bit muffled , and I usually have to hear words said twice to me to get whats been said , he checked me ears good and proper and he says its "age related"....
So he will refer me to the hearing centre, where I would most probaly be given a hearing aid......God sake im only 56 ....wats up with me !!....The big round your ear hole type are NHS free, but if I want a small insert unseen the its in between £500 to £1000.......Phew me ......Any of yous had , got or know someone who use an hearing device......? Or any related stories about hearing .......I suppose that when a lot of us hit the 40 s we have to wear reading glasses , so its really not much different to hearing aids .......I will wait until I get to the hearing centre then go from there .......I hope your all having a good peaceful weekend, take care all...Sheila

  • I think there must be a black hole somewhere that is eating posts, I've been losing posts fairly regularly over the last few weeks and the mse site I'm on just suddenly flicks back to the first page of the thread with no warning and then of course all your words have gone from the box when you get back to it, most annoying isn't it?

Sheila, both Hubby and Mum wear 2 aids each and you can hardly see them. In fact I really have to look for them to check Oh has his in and he has short hair. They are technological wonders and it saves me thumping them both as sitting in a room with 2 deaf people is hard work. You sometimes need new bits changing on them including batteries ( you have a stock of them) - they will explain it all - but usually theres a local drop in centre which saves you going back to the hospital.

Had a lovely time with Dgs this weekend and we made a birthday present for his Mummy so everywhere has little drops of cream emulsion on it including me and his tummy :rotfl: they have now toddled off to visit my Mum who is very happy as she worships and adores the lot of them but especially Dgs. She will ring me 3 times later gushing with joy and telling me everything 3 times :D
