Was just thinking that sounded pretty good Kidcat! I'm not usually a smoothies sort of a person but I could seriously go for that - just so happens I have some brandy that needs ...errrmm ... decluttering! before we move - lol!!

Productive day today - left DH at home to do some last minute revision before his exam tomorrow and I've been at the house, paintbrush in hand. Second coated all the skirting boards in gloss so they have time to harden off before the carpet fitters come and done 2 more white coats on DD's bedroom (which was bright, fushia pink) I swear that if she ever gets a hankering for a bright pink bedroom I am reviving the medieval family fostering system and she can go off to my brother and SIL until she gets it out of her system - I am never over painting bright pink again!!!!!!

No painting tomorrow - I have my parent carer forum hat on and am off to speak at the summer SENCO network meeting to a whole roomful of SENCOs (Why do I say yes to these things?) but the parentals will be taking up my baton (brush and roller) and are coming down to finish putting up lining paper.

Ok tea is here now - catch you all later - love and hugs all round - X

Stiltwalker glad your decorating is moving along. ds16 Has finally agreed to a revamp of his room so I dragged him to look at wallpaper earlier :)
He likes Black and silver stripes apparently and has chosen a black carpet. Should be interesting and a definite contrast to dd8 pink room which is probably very similar to what you have been painting over :)

Hi again everyone. Sorry about yesterday. I had planned to sort out the cooking for the drop in and come back to you, but I got involved in chatting to people and some came back to the manse and a raucous evening developed.

Stiltie: I have a few more weeks than you before the great move but thankfully don't have to do any decorating, that's all taken care of before we get there.
I am trying to work my way through the freezers though and we are having some pretty odd meals. Yesterday we had slices of roast pork, yorkies, roast potatoes, runner beans and peas, gravy and mint sauce. Well, I didn't have apple sauce or even any apples and I'm not spending any money on food until the freezers are empty.

The filled boxes are slowly stacking up but you do have to watch where your feet are going in the house. I am keeping the sitting room untouched until the last week, I'd go mad if I didn't even have one room that was clean, tidy and peaceful. My darling DIL came round today and not only went off with a car full of goodies but also offered to Fleabay anything I wanted to sell and to take anything to the CS or tip. She is a diamond, especially as she dragged DS2 round with her and he strimmed and mowed the jungle that passes for a back garden. Meanwhile DGD zoomed into the kitchen and the biscuit tin like a homing pigeon. Not having time to make biscuits since I've been back I actually bought some choc. digestives, (Sh!)
By the time she had eaten it I had to virtually hose her down and when she had gone had to go around wiping chocolate fingerprints off doors, windows, TV screen, remote controls etc. Not to mention having to change my clothes and wash the choccy handprints off trousers and shirt. Phew!

Kidcat. Those Ear/Nose/Tooth/Throat pains are the very devil to track down. I bet you could swear that it's your ear when it turns out to be your tooth and you're sure to go to the wrong sort of medical practitioner first. Hope it clears up soon.

Fuddle. Beauty is food for the spirit and just as important as food for the tummy. But as it is not your 'forever' house I wouldn't buy things like Camellias because it will break your heart to have to leave them behind. I packet of Annual seeds will made a plash of colour and you can do that every year.

Welcome Blackcats. We always welcome newcomers with delight. There is always the chance that they will cough up some new recipes or be like Pooky and teach us some new crafty idea. If none of this applies don't worry. We will just love you for being you.

Well, this is my early night.

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Bless you Monna - you always time to have a kind word for everyone else even when so busy yourself. It's big task now, but as it is social housing, once we are in it's as good as ours so it is the first time we have been able to decorate and carpet etc as we like - so even if it is hard work we do count ourselves blessed to be able to do this (well I will do once it's done!) Had the stair lift rep and OT round today so the adaptations are all moving forward too, will make such a difference to our lives (and backs!) and we will really be able to start working on independence skills for the future. Had a big chat with our OT last week - she reckons that DD will probably always use 2 stick/crutches to walk (once she gets that far) and a chair for outside but she believes in our amazing little lass and is putting skills, equipment and training now to enable her to be fully independent when she is grown, she also thinks young man will be as able - in fact she said she thought if not for his visual impairment he'd have taken the plunge and let go for independent steps already. It is so important to us to have professionals who see our guys as being as able as we do - not least as then we feel a little less delusional!! - lol - just need to put everything in place now to help our little guys be all that they can.

    Morning everyone

I don't envy the moving and decorating _pale_ less said the better!

Yesterday was hectic, I had a phone call off DD who had a major panic attack so I shot off across town to see her. She really got herself in a mess and I feel so useless. She still hasn't had her results back and as the kids have been off she didn't leave the house for a week so yesterday was the first day she had to go out so I think it got a little too much.

As much as I tell her she is not dying she still thinks she's having a heart attack.......... only time will help

Then coming out of the doctors was a friend I haven't seen for years who went through the same thing and we had a good chat for half an hour, this was like a gift from the Gods as it wasn't just me telling her what anxiety can make you feel.

We had a good laugh with the Dr as I went in with her and he was really lovely.

A few hours later she was feeling better but a little daft she had got in such a state.

Anxiety/ panic attacks are evil and I wouldn't wish them on anyone.

Anyway I didn't want to come on here and moan I was just explaining my absence :rotfl:

  • MAR smoothies are really good ways to use up bits that need using. I pop in any fruit we have and if I don't have fresh use homegrown frozen. Bananas, berries, seedless grapes, peeled pears (ripe ones only), peaches, plums all go well as do frozen blackcurrants, cherries, blueberries, some milk, a drizzle of honey, a tablespoon of oats, a tablespoon of ground almonds if you have them, a squeeze of lemon juice (bottled is fine), if I've got it a tablespoon of plain yoghurt and blitz well, adding more milk if you need to until you get the consistency you like. It's an infinitely variable product so you can run with the seasons and ring the changes, Lyn xxx.

Hi all, I have finally caught up with you all. Had another busy weekend. I worked all day Saturday and then sunday we started again on mums garden. There is a huge conifer in a neighbours garden that overhangs 2 foot, quite a big area in a small garden. After we started there was a wasp nest, so because we were in a hurry and mum was freaking out we ended up burning the branches. That made the neighrbour who own s the tree start complaining he wanted his branches back - but not the wasp nest. Strange people here!!!
After we have finished we ended up in the pub for a quick drink, and a well earned rest. I then discovered I had got sun burnt. Oh I forgot to say I had to stop working as I stepped on a nail with one foot and then DD dropped a wheelbarrow on my other foot. I ended up in agony.
Yesterday me mum and DD went out to town, I found a lovely disaster design bag for £5 in a charity shop. One happy DD.

Today is a 14 hour day at work...... why do I do it????????

    Morning all

Nutty - I'd have given him the branches back including the wasp nest and let him deal with it! Strange man.

PIC - Panic attacks are scary things to watch, I've never had one but both DD's have suffered them (DD1 hasn't had one for a few years now) but they terrify me and I'm not going through it.

DH's hospital transport arrived at 6.15am - his appointment isn't until 10.30am so I'm guessing they've got lots of pick ups on the way in to London this morning. We were both awake at 4am as we both get tense about him going. It's going to be a long day.

Without everyone in the way I've managed to get all the housework done, kitchen is gleaming, all beds aired and remade, bathrooms cleaned and hoovered from top to bottom. Downstairs floors are washed and drying as we speak and it's only 8.15!

OK Pooky, if you are bored now I have several tons of clutter to be sorted and quite a few boxes to be filled. Give me a ring when you are on your way and I'll put the kettle on.

By the way, I can't even SEE my floors.

Oh Monna I'd love to - I love sorting other peoples stuff and cleaning other peoples houses. I'm a little bit strange like that!

Some people along the road moved out yesterday and I got a pang of "ohhhh I love moving day" - I love the build up and the anticipation and excitement of the day itself, having a good sort out, finding new homes for things. I love my house at the moment but know we'll move again someday, once the girls have left the house will be too big for the 2 of us.

DH's hospital visit had mixed results - he called me all upset as he's on the waiting list to go in for a 3 month extensive testing/physio/CBT stay. It will be a hell of an upheaval for him (and us) so will have to get more details - he'll be allowed home for a couple of weekends. I wish the Dr had told me to come in to the appointment too as DH is now going to stress about it all the way home. :(
