    Afternoon toughies,

No slugs this morning but when I put on my outdoor crocodiles (cheapy version ;) ) a cat had decided to use one shoe as a toilet, cat wee only but what a stench  and yes I didn't notice until my foot was squelching inside!
Just after getting my foot cleaned, poor stripy cat threw up his breakfast, nearly missing our new TV (that we have waited years for) and one of DS10's birthday books. I think he was trying to lick off posh cat's flea treatment drops. I did stripeycat earlier and kept them apart, Mr SQ did poshcat and I don't think kept them apart despite my warnings.

Not sure whether I re-do poshcat? any thoughts? BTW stripeycat seems fine now.
right more to say but need to get bits together before school run... hugs to all sq x

Today is my day off and I have.....walked the dogs for an hour, made breakfast, scrubbed skirting boards ahead of BT engineer visit on Friday to install new wiring, loaded and emptied dwasher, been to library, greengrocer, pet shop, bakery, vet and Lidly....made vegetable soup, onion soup (found some tired looking onions in my veg rack!), a nut roast to use up assorted left over nuts and bread, a vat of smoothie (apple, carrot, spinach, lemon , ginger, pineapple and orange), loaded and emptied washing machine....rushed to park and ride to pick up DD who had just missed shuttle bus to hospital and was going to be late for her shift, ferried her into town, drove home down some side streets to get a look at a little car we are going back to see later for other DD, cooked lunch, prepped veg for tea....and breathe!

The rain is hammering down, I had water running out of my shoes when I came home from the village. Supposed to brighten up later - certainly hope so as we have to take the dog to the vet then go to see the car. Dh also wants to go and watch a cross country run up on the hill tonight to support his team as he can't run yet after his knee op. And tomorrow I will be going back to work for a rest :rotfl:

Hi all, wow alfsmum that's a lot. SQ yuck!!!! I hate any animal poo wee or worse still sick. PIC we had chocks as a child, I hope things settle down soon.

Well after doing 13 and a half hours yesterday today I ended up doing just 6 today. Have come home to defrost the freezer, see exciting life here too. Posty has tried to deliver the replacement handles for DD bedroom furniture - less than £10 to revamp all the drawers. We are putting some clear crystal style ones on.

Eldest Dd went to get quotes for carpeting the new house, now I am not sure she is in line with current costs. To do all of her 2 bed house I found a one man band who works in the evening, he said about £800 all fitted and all with underlay and door bars. She popped into c*****right and they quoted 2 and half thousand...... needless to say I think they are coming to the conclusion they are expensive.

We have offered to donate £200 towards the total cost, she has made nearly £250 by selling things at the car boot and landofbay. So nearly half way there I suppose.

Washing machine needs emptying and tea needs preparing. We are have sausage platt with cauliflower cheese and new potatoes.

pic the secret life of cats was really good, enjoy:)

Well, we snapped up the little car for Dd17, full MOT, long tax and low mileage for under a grand. All she has to do now is pass her test.

Poor doggy boy's ears are still poorly so he has to have general anaesthetic next week to have both ears cleaned out and a little lump removed, poor lad.

Still pouring, hope someone has the sunshine?

Hi all, just back from visiting DD. We have ended up having to say that with carpets you get what you pay for. The man who I know, is by far the cheapest and he would get the whole house completed in under a day. So it looks like we will be car booting Monday and she is listing some unwanted items. She is thinking if its not needed and can be sold better to make some money now while its urgently needed.

Please can everyone ask for sunshine on sunday, we are attempting to finish mums garden this weekend. The skip can go and all finshed and nice.

I loved the secret life of cats programme too. One of mine is quite nervous so I have tried blinking slowly when I look at him (according to the programme wide open eyes are a sign of threat/danger for a cat) well in true cat like fashion he stared at me like I was an idiot and flounced off back to his bed.
Carpets can be very expensive so it sounds like you've found a good deal compared to the big carpet shop prices. It will be lovely when it's done, nothing transforms a house like lovely fresh carpets.

2BC: See what I mean? You won't get any peace now until we see, or get the recipe for, knitted covers for FRs.

And now I think we all ought to get together and knit a carpet for NuttyP's DD. Granny squares anyone?

Alfsmum: Wow! That sounds like a good buy. Now all you have to do is to find an Insurance package that doesn't cost more than the average house. My eldest DGD is nearly 18 and passed her test a few months after her 17th birthday. She reckons she will be drawing her pension before she can afford to insure a car. She is off to Uni in September and I think it quite good that she doesn't have a car at the moment. I know girls are much more mature these days than we were at the same age but I still think it is quite young to be driving.

Well, I now have 2 empty drawers in one of my freezers. I keep opening them to have another gloating look at them. I have discovered a large stash of chicken pieces so that is what we are having tomorrow, wrapped in bacon and stuffed with Philly Cheese and garlic. I also came across yet another anonymous plastic bag filled with some mystery contents which is now de-frosting. On Friday we will eat whatever it is with gravy or custard, whichever seems to be most appropriate.

Evening toughies, monna I am doing very much the same thing with the freezers, its a case of surprise surprise when it defrosts. NOt always a success but I desperately need to defrost them :)

alfsmum well done with the car, as Monna says the tough part will be the insurance, DD19 has had quotes in excess of £2k which is scary.

Nutty - carpets are incredibly expensive and strangely priced as well. I had DD8 room done not long ago for £150 but yesterday was getting the same quotes for similar £ per square metre for DS16 bedroom which is less than half the size??? I am now watching carefully for offcuts as his room is so small.

2BC - I loved the cat program, and DS16 has watched it three times already, strangely the two kittens sit glued to it as well, one purring away the other with tail swishing! The older look at them bemused :)

Busy day here again, havent stopped moving all day it feels. But am really proud I managed the gym again tonight, second time this week I have been and alone as well. My friend who I have been going with has some kids who are still off school this week so cannot go.
OH was late home again, and is out at 2.30am in the morning.
Had words with DS10 school today as they want one of us to act as escort next week for an outing (their words were exactly - we are short staffed) and I cannot do it as its DS16 last exam day, OH is working so I said DD19 would go and they turned their noses up. I said fine he can't do the trip then (he wont enjoy it anyway) and you will need to cover him staying in school. There was a discussion around it and I pointed out that DD19 has almost become the other parent and is certainly spending many more hours each week caring for the kids than OH is.
She is training to be a teacher, I would have thought they would be glad of trained hands for goodness sakes. I pointed out there are not enough hours in my day to do everything they expect and bring up other children too.
I get the impression they had completely missed I was struggling, despite my repeated warnings that I was hard pressed, so spelling it out today hopefully helped.
They have said DD can escort now but I have said I dont think he will enjoy it or manage the whole day, so we have agreed DD will go but when she says he has had enough I will go collect them both effectively that means he will be home by lunch time but at least we will have tried.
