Stilty that's great news, I know it will be hard work for a while but so worth it. My 92 yr old grandma has just moved house (from the one she lived in for 70 years). She is now just 5 mins away from my parents, who have had to do everything since she is in a wheelchair now. Her other 5 children have done almost nothing. She has moved to a regular 3 bed house so it needs adaptations like ramps and stair lift, wet room and hand rails. They have mostly been done (except the stair lift keeps blowing) but it has been a frustrating time for my parents, particularly since she is living with them since her house in London sold and she isn't the easiest person to live with. But it will all be worth it in the end so hold on to that thought!
Good luck to Miss Pooky with the exams.
I have work today and a smidgeon of mystery shopping to do.0 -
Morning all - having a bit of a break from my essay, 2/3 of the way there now, just another thousand words to go! But my brain gone into brain freeze mode.
Thanks for the idea re container Lyn, unfortunately it'd not fit up the path by the side of the house, it's going to have to be a shed constructed in situ.
Good luck to Miss Pooky and anyone else who is doing exams - X0 -
I think they lift them over the house with a crane to get them in situ, we looked at a house in a village in Kent years ago with no access to the back garden other than a narrow alleyway down one side and there was a portacabin in there, lifted in over the roof, might be worth doing some checking???0

Thanks Lyn - sounds expensive though and we're going to be stretched as it is (thanks heavens for bank of Mum and Dad - should tide us over til we get the deposit back on this place).
Procrastinating on here really - essay up to 2150 words now though, only 850 to go - never mind the quality feel the length lol! time to go and pick up the boy from nursery now. X0 -
I love moving, every time we did it we went to an absolute tip, and had to paint the lot but I like that. Try and see the house as you'd like it Stiltwalker and not as it is
I won't move from this house if I can help it though, this place is perfect.

I love moving too Mar - this is the 11th house I've lived in and whilst I love it, I'm looking forward to the next move (will downsize when the girls leave home). DH is less keen on moving as he's lived in over 30 places and 7 countries....I think that would probably put me off too.
How's your kitten doing Mar? Are you still smitten?
I've been trawling the net looking for the best pet food deals for my lot - AF had the dry food they have for £1.99 a bag instead of £4.50ish that we normally have to pay - I've ordered 20 bags
DH has gone to FIL's this morning to help him with some computer stuff, I'm trying to get him to go over there one morning a week, a break for me and him and a bit of company for FIL whilst MIL is at work. (MIL was complaining that FIL seems to faff all morning and is lacking direction since he retired - hopefully this will work in everyones favour)"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Yes Pooks she's lovely, she is no bother at all apart from two mad half hours a day. Sleeps in a wee space between my pillow and the headboard, and cuddles a lot. Only niggle I have is that i can't get her to eat anything other than Royal Canin Persian Kitten food, which costs £25 a bag. I watched her eating and she licks only, never bites. With dreamies she ends up rolling them across the kitchen floor for miles before she gets them into her mouth. She likes chicken but never manages to swallow any!0

Hi all, just finally caught up with you all. Wow lots to read.
Stiltwaker congratulations on the house offer, social housing is a god send and is secure. I am lucky enough to be in one too, the rent often being considerably cheaper too.
Pooky love the picture on FB of the quilt. I would never have the patience to make one.
PIC how is the pooch situation going? I saw on FB there are some new leads for dogs with a traffic light colour scheme, as in green is ok, orange if ok on a lead, red for not good, please leave us alone!! Well you get the drift, I wish we could have had one when we had our dog. We would have red just so no stupid people with puppys, would think all dogs want to say hello. Our never did he just wanted to have a walk.
MRS LW zebra sounds divine, cant wait to be a grandparent but cant imagine it happening anytime soon.
Well here is my news, today I had the interview for the managers job. I am having my contract increased to 35 hrs a week, even tho this week I am doing 48!!! It means more holiday pay. I start on the 1st june on a secondment as the manager of the shop but I have to complete a training programme, as soon as I have completed half that's it all mine! I feel really happy, apprehensive about the responsibility, but I already do it but without the title or pay.
OH Is 50 today, so we are going for a meal tonight. He refused a party, and didn't want any fuss. DD will be there early setting up a table with a balloon and he has a huge cake too. Fireextinguser ready lol.
Mums garden is half way done, more to do this weekend.

I can't believe it's a fortnight since I posted, as those of you who have friended me on FB possibly noticed I had five days away over the Bank Holiday weekend. It was wonderful.
Whilst we were away I had a go of a rollator belonging to another hotel guest, and found it so much easier than walking with two sticks. I need to lose weight again but must be careful as last year I took things too far and gave myself an irregular heartbeat.
I ordered myself a rollator when I got back, half price on Am@zon, paid half with survey vouchers and DS (aka Dr C) has agreed to pay the other half as my birthday present as that's on Thursday.
It came within two days of ordering, great stuff. I've discovered that the seat (it's a four wheeler with integral seat) makes an excellent surface for use as a trolley which will make life easier around the home as carrying plates and drinks had become really problematic.
Another nice thing was an email from the author of a Maths textbook offering me a free copy of his book if I agreed to review it on Amazon. This is the sort of thing I buy quite often for work, so it was good to be offered this, and looking at his website, it looks as if it will be genuinely useful.
Haven't caught up with all your news, hope to do that soon, but I adore the new kitten - and Wellington, of course...Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0
