  • The one I was looking at is bright pink with caution written on.

She loves most dogs but the partially blind one that banged into her was a GS and now she's not keen on them even though she's one herself.

Maybe I'm going about it all wrong, she just needs to look at herself in the mirror :rotfl:

She does think every tennis ball in the whole world belongs to her though! as the other three dogs couldn't give a monkeys she gets them all to herself at home.

mos Our Collie is scared of people as well I think a lot of them are.

    Pets eh?

On the plus side we do have some blue tits nesting in the bird box on the lottie x

We have 2 border collies, first one we got at 20 weeks having been her 4th home, poor girl had been 'too much trouble' but has never caused us any problems at all! She loves ALL men that come into the house and seems to think they all want her sat on their laps and outside she is good with people but big dogs she hates. She had a very large dog barrel into her and knock her flying and since then only likes little dogs and our other border, loves all dogs but is scared of people and barks at them. Problem is, he has a huge bark and people think he is vicious when in fact he is just shouting at them to leave him alone. If they tried to stroke him he would never go to bite but doesn't like people invading his space.

I have heard borders can be neurotic and my 2 are no exception! :rotfl:

    Morning all,

Pooky we're meant to get nice weather too, but only until Friday. Still, I'll take what I can get! My confidence always takes a nose dive when I don't get my usual exercise in--not just physical confidence, but in everything. It sounds like you're giving her a real boost. Any chance you could encourage some walks or some sort of fresh air and sunshine for breaks?

I brought her a new set of running gear a couple of weekends ago and she's been out 3/4 times a week for a half hour tear around the village - her BF is a mad BMX'er (boys never grow up do they?) so he cycles up to see her at the weekend (24 miles return!!) and they've started to go out on bike rides too - she does love exersice, it's just the reminding her that she needs to up it a bit now she's not getting it at school. I was her age when I started putting weight on and did nothing about it - now it's impossible to shift and I really wish I'd had someone give me a shove when I was 16.

That sounds great Pooky! I sort of fell into exercise as an adult. I was scrawny as a kid and thought exercise=gym class. I got so lucky to 'discover it' and I wish someone had given me a nudge earlier!

Exercise for me = trike, but it used to be walking and who knows, with improving weight loss, the rollator may help with this.

So very pleased for you Nutty, high time you had good news. I'm watching the York meeting with half an eye and having a little daydream of one day being there as an co-owner... Stranger things have happened. It won't happen for a few years though, as 'my' horses go in to training next year. Or at least Fatty does, as a three year old. Boo may, she is very progressive as a yearling.

  • I had a visit to our Mr.T this morning and struck lucky in the reduced section coming away with a pack from the butchery of lean stewing steak foir £2,25 and 4 packs of Lurpack Butter reduced to 77p each. Bargains to look out for are 24 packs of OXO for £1.50 a pack and Philadelphia 300g packs of Cheese at £1.20p a pack with use by dates of the end of July, might be worth a look if you're in Mr.T.

Managed to get my hanging baskets sorted today so the garden is looking a bit brighter.
I'm a bit cross though about DS's food tech class. He's in Yr 7 and was making chicken pasta salad today, which is great, learning to cook real food. However, there were no refrigeration facilities for his group, only the other group, so we now have a big container of lovely looking chicken pasta salad where the chicken has been out of the fridge since 7.30 this morning. I've told him we sadly can't eat it and he seems fine with that, but what a thing to teach them, how to fail a food hygiene test! Maybe some might think I'm overreacting but it's been a really hot day here and I'm not chancing it.

I'm in two minds PIC. I did tell him to pack a freezer thingy, but of course he didn't, and it wouldn't surprise me if he had been told to do this and just forgot or didn't listen. He says the other group who did it in the afternoon got to put their stuff in the fridge first thing, but as his lesson was first thing he didn't. And the teacher didn't tell them to refrigerate it at the end of the lesson. Let's hope they don't all get salmonella eh? I'm sad for him though, he prepared the cooked chicken and cooked the courgette for it last night and was all proud of himself. :(

PIC - What gorgeous photos - hope mum gets to raise them all. Glad we generally only have one at a time!!
Mrs L - As you are a very knowledgeable lady:D Can I freeze schnitzel before its cooked? I made some chicken tonight & just thought if I was doing a batch in future could if freeze it after egging & breadcrumbing?
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
