Congratulations Hester, boy, you are all going to be busy.
I zap my mackerel for half a minute in the micro and have it with toast. Has to be brown bread tough or I get indegestion.
Had a pair of hotter boots and they were fab and lasted years - sooo comfy!Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Looks like we will have a sunny weekend and I'm off work!
It's our Mother's Day over here this weekend. I've been told I'm getting two hanging baskets of Pansies from my sons. WonderCollie was generous and arranged for me to pick up a bracelet similar to Pandora but not as expensive for being a good dog Mum.
Ecco shoes are wonderful. I have a couple of pairs for work. It's hard to find white, comfy shoes (all I'm allowed for work by our dress code) since most of the old school shoe companies stopped making duty shoes for nurses. When I find a pair on sale I buy them.
Dog food. There is a brand over here called Caesar. It's sold in small plastic containers that look like mini tupperw*res. We've always let the dog in residence only have wet food as a Sunday treat. One night my oldest son came home slightly the worse for alcohol consumption. Saw the tub, heated it in the micro and put it on toast. I came down the next morning and found the empty tub with a very upset dog looking at the counter. It was the doggie version of chicken casserole. Son said it just needed a bit of HP sauce and was quite tasty!0 -
Morning toughies, am dashing in quick before the day gets swallowed into a time vortex!
Hester I hope mum and babies had a good night and that your ankles have recovered
We moved the cabinet upstairs last night, so after shopping and dancing I plan on finishing the living room, OH is off to collect the desk I bought from the land of bay. Hopefully we can close the book on living room renovation today. Tomorrow is finally about getting DD8 room refilled and organised. Exciting to finish both projects.
I have also made a major decision and have signed up for a gym, I have my induction on Monday. I know I need to build my core stability up in order to improve my back, and have been investigating classes for months, everything from yoga to zumba, but they are very inflexible in that its a set time every week and if you miss you have to pay. Classes were looking at costing £5 every week for one half hour class.
Last week a friend was telling me she had joined a ladies only gym and it was only costing £10 per month. So I went for a chat and a look around, by signing up I am committed to three months, so if it doesn't work I can cancel.
I am hoping the fact that its flexible means I can fit it in somewhere at least twice a week, and if I manage that I am paying less than I would for a class. So lets hope I can do it0 -
Morning all,
Had a bit of bad news earlier this week that threw me for a wobble but I'm back on track now. It has made me re-think a few things and I'm considering a few alternate career paths because I'm not longer sure I really want to live with the everyday stress of things. Trying to think of jobs that would let me use my OS skills, or perhaps do something I don't enjoy part time and then try to do something on the side that I do. Or perhaps my original path will become a little smoother and it won't be necessary.
Congratulations Hester!
Shegar, I hope you're settling into a new routine. It sounds like a nice place for your OH where he'll be looked after freeing you up to really enjoy life with him again. It must be an adjustment for both of you though.
We're forecast for rain all weekend, so it looks like its mostly inside jobs peppered with slug and snail patrol for me.
I'm pleased to report that Maggie is growing and starting to get a little bit of pudge. She seems to be a happy kitten. I wish we'd gotten her sooner she has made such a difference, for me in particular.
Right, our LL is coming round to discuss renewing our lease so will go and have a quick tidy of the lounge and perhaps make sure puss has a few hiding spots ready. She is still a bit shy when people come over in spite of me wanting to show her off!0 -

Hester - Congrats on the new grandbabies! Twice the cuddles!!!
Kidkat - Hope the gym does what you need - how you'll find the time I'll never know!!
FairyP - Sorry to hear you've had bad news, lots of kitten hugs will help x
Had a very disturbed night with lots of cats on and off the bed as they were cold....came down to find one of the kittens had been locked in the porch when the doors were locked before bed ---oppps - no harm done and she's very, very happy to see us all. Just sorted her out and one of the others brought in a baby bird so they all needed to go poke it - managed to rescue it and pop it out on the flat roof - it's gone now so hopefully it's safe. My life would be so much simpler without cats....
I'd never be without them though.
Sorted the fridge out and DH and I are having a hotchpotch of things for lunch - the last of a jar of pickles, 2 bits of salami, a bit of furry beetroot (with the fur cut off) the dregs of the cheese box and the less bendy salad items.....why is it lunches like that always taste the best?"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. I've just made some soup with our left over bendy veg and it was delicious. Plenty for fridge/freezer too.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
This really is the last time I'll post for about 3 weeks, so please look after yourselves. Whatever happens remember that every thing passes in time.
I only have to pack my case, put fresh bedding on my bed, (so nice to come back to an immaculate bed) wipe over the fridge, put the last bits of crockery away, smuggle our recyclables and rubbish into the church bins, run the vaccuum around, pour drain cleaner down all the drains and some bleach into the loos and I think I'm ready.
I THINK I'm ready. I bet there are 101 things that will occur to me before we leave.
Why do I always feel guilty about going on an indulgent holiday? I just keep thinking about all those who would give their eye teeth to be having any sort of holiday never mind a villa in Corfu. Have to keep reminding myself that until a few years ago this would have seemed an impossible dream to me. Take heart all! Your time will come.
Bless you all.

MONNA enjoy every second of that holiday, if every anyone earned the break it's YOU!!!
Wev'e just been introducing Zebra to the village and loveliest moment of the day was visiting a 93 year old friend who wanted a cuddle and seeing the rapport between 14 weeks and 93 years and the enjoyment from both parties, it's something I'll treasure for a very long time, Lyn xxx.0
