  • You could make some pate with them Kidcat, whiz them up with some butter or soft cheese and spices that you like, perhaps mace or nutmeg and seasoning and you'd have a nice sandwich filling, Lyn xxx.

ivy I can't remember the last time I got out of my wellies or walking boots, because of my back I have to have shock absorbers (sp) built in to my foot wear. Maybe we could start the pretty shoe company with comfy straps, glitter and shockers built in :rotfl:

PIC you are a genius :D

Sending empathic ((HUGS)) to you, AOT and everyone else with dodgy feet.

ATM I have Ecco walking shoes (one stone-coloured pair for summer, bought several years ago and still going strong, and I dark brown nubuck pair bought in their online Sale a few months ago), and my sandals are Josef Siebel (the "posh" pair) and Mephisto (comfy for walking round in - they're a similar idea to Birkenstocks).

Not cheap unfortunately, but will last a long time.

I feel so sad for my neighbour, she's in her mid-seventies and can now only wear sandals, so if it's raining she either stays in or gets wet feet :(

I have diverticular disease and was in so much pain yesterday afternoon that I had to warn my OH that if I wasn't better today he'd have to go to Florence on his own :( I am a bit better this morning but not as well as I'd like. If you see a post from me tomorrow you'll know I decided not to risk it!

Kidkat - I think I'd mush them up with a bit of mayo and black pepper and serve on some toasted chunky bread, maybe with some roasted cherry tomatoes for a bit of juiciness.

We don't have fish often enough in the house due to DH being highly allergic to fish/shellfish - it's such a pantomime to make sure the kitchen is spotlessly clean afterwards and everything needs to be washed by hand, not in the dishwasher to avoid cross contamination. I did some smoked haddock for DD's and I the other day, the cats loved me for it - I gave them the poaching milk when it had cooled down and they were fighting over it.

Well the sun is shining, I've played mouse chase with a rather fat little fellow, luckily he went into the downstairs bathroom so he was contained and easier to catch....popped him outside and found 2 dead ones on the patio! Stepped in hedgehog poo, nearly de-housed a snail and was woken up by seagulls defending their nest over the road......it's safe to say I've enough wildlife for the morning.

Pooky get out of my freezer.

My car is in for service today and I was too tight to pay the £10 damage waiver on the courtesy car. Result I am now too paranoid about someone damaging it and me having to pay £500 excess that I don't want to actually drive it anywhere.

PIC - I love pretty shoes too, but I have so many problems with my feet that I've had to wear what I think of as "old ladies' shoes" since I was about 50 (I'm 60 now). I actually cried in a shoe shop some years ago:o because there were so many pretty, strappy, high heeled sandals in there (it was only Clarks, too!) and I had to have flat, "sensible" ones. Still, it does seem a bit easier now to find flat sandals that are also quite pretty - I just yearn for higher more elegant-looking heels occasionally.[/QUOTE]

Have you tried Hotter shoes? For me, they are some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever had. They do half sizes and extra wide fittings. They are very stylish and some are quite unusual.

They have a few shops, but you can buy via mail order or online, and they have lots of offers which bring the prices down. Also, returns are free.

When I find a pair that are very comfortable, I invest in another pair straight away.

You could make some pate with them Kidcat, .

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I really must make an appointment with the opticians!! When I glanced at your post, lol, I thought it said, lol, "you could make some pâte with the kittykat!"

    Ha ha lol :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    It's a jungle out there!
Reminds me of a day, years ago, when I got up early, and changed baby's soiled nappy, pottied the toddler and cleaned her bottie, cleaned out the cat litter tray, went into the garden and cleared up the dog mess, cleaned up the duck splats, changed the baby's nappy AGAIN, and wailed, " All I ever do is pick up POO."

Actually, I have tasted tiny, weeny bits of tinned dog and cat food, just to see what they're like, especially as some smells lovely and meaty. Every single one tastes nothing like the lovely meaty smell, and are very, very bland, because, of course, there's no salt, pepper or herbs in them!

I did read somewhere, years ago, that pet food has to be made to human quality, in case people do actually eat it, but I don't know if that's true!

Thanks Pyxis and whoever mentioned Ambrose Williams. I don't usually buy shoes online, the Ecco ones are the first pair I've bought like that and it was only because I knew what size would be comfy. It just seems like so much hassle having to send them back if they don't fit, and there isn't a Hotter shop or outlet near us atm.

When I go somewhere and come across one though, I'll definitely go in and try some on :)

Lyn - I forgot, I have some Merrell trekking sandals too, I call them my "sightseeing sandals"! :D They look a bit scruffy now (they're nubuck) but still so comfy for walking around in.

monnagran - I have a pair of Footglove loafers I bought for a wedding (to wear with trousers). I'd forgotten about them as I haven't worn them since last summer. They're actually very comfy, but keep slipping off unless I wear them with bare feet IYSWIM. This is a bit awkward, as i wear a compression stocking on one leg.

How maddening that the Rev has finished her packing! Still, at least you can get on with yours without having to nag her ;)
