Evening all
Well peeps all your positive vibes must have worked for DS2 he has got the job!!!! So chuffed for him and so very grateful to the lovely firm who have been superbly supportive even to the point of getting in touch with their head office to make sure everything was according to the letter of the law/anything they needed to do or change, as they haven't employed a person with a disability before. They sound so sweet!!Thanks so much for all your kind wishes XX
Been stoopidly busy here preserving and gardening so will catch up as I can for now.
Hope everyone is ok and sending huge hugs to you all XX0 -

Oh PIC, have a virtual hug from me to go with your wine!
Well today we have taken the plunge and ordered the new car - we are going to use little man's HRM for a motability car and have finally decided on a galaxy as it should be big enough for all the kit we carry round. It's going to be 3 months though as not built yet and as it isn't the most popular of cars due to its humungousness, they do them in batches.
Second big thing today was the arrival of little miss Stilty's new wheels - found out yesterday that wheelchair services was messing us around and no guarantees of even when we could get an appointment let alone the wheelchair that DD has decided that she wants. Not unusual sadly, was talking to the mum of the other chair user at school today and they have been waiting 18 months for power chair! And I hear the same story over and over again in my work with the parent carer forum.
We'd already arranged to hire her a wheelchair for our hols so just brought it forward and we'll hire it on an ongoing basis until the situation sorts itself out. Picked it up from the courier (we were out sorting car when they tried to deliver) and she is pleased as punch with it - already trying to propel herself (heaven help the toes of anyone near her!! lol) - she looks such a big grown up girl in it too, it quite made me well up and not in a bad way I'm so proud of her - who'd have thought I'd be so pleased to see my girl in a wheelchair? It's not what you imagine for your kids when you are pregnant but it's become our norm and it's all steps towards an independent, confident future, she'd be far more 'disabled' without the chair (if that doesn't sound batty). Little man is already a little jealous of her wheels I think, but will be a bit more complicated when it's his turn as he can't see much more than a metre/metre and a half!! Doable, but complicated - but then that seems to be the story of our lives.
ETA - I was writing my 'tome' when you posted D&DD - big congrats to DS2 X0 -
Congrats to your DS, 3D
Stilty - yay to the car and the wheels. Anything that makes life easier eh?
Pic - sorry to hear about the chook

Hi one and all.
SQ: I can empathise ove the trouser situation. My eldest was like a beanpole and I remember the year he grew 7 inches in a few months. I threatened a lace frill on the bottom of his trousers. He was always tall and thin and if the legs were long enough he could have got two friends in the waist with him.
PIC: I know where you are coming from too. My cottage was in just such a lane. There were 4 houses along the track and we were in the next but last. The last house was the farm and they had horses and used to give little girls riding lessons on a Saturday morning. The upper class mamas used to deliver the little darlings and then sit in their cars blocking the track completely. That bit of the track belonged to me and it was tedious if I'd been shopping and couldn't get back into the cottage to unload. The mamas also used the time to clear the rubbish out of their cars and put it in MY wheelie bin. The last straw was one day when I was working in the garden and I saw one woman get out of her car with 2 dogs, lock the car and set off down our garden path. Eventually she rounded the stable (no horse, just rubbish) and came face to face with me looking like Worzel Gummidge's Granny. I enquired 'could I help her?' No. she said, she was just walking the dogs. Not in my garden, I advised her. This was not my garden, she informed me. Not only my garden, I retorted, but my garden path, my stable, my paddock, my woods surrounding my garden and my track on which she had just parked her car. She snorted. Honestly she did. And marched very crossly back up the path, got in the car, did a 99 point turn and disappeared. Nice dogs though.
Went into the Metropolis today (Newport) and indulged in a jacket potato in Dunelm. I love that shop. Bought 2 new pillows as I can't remember when I last had new pillows and I'll keep them till I move. That and some new liners for the kitchen bin was about it. The last of the big spenders!
Thanks for the explanation Lyn. It's difficult deciding what to be called as Grandparents. As you may remember I'm Monna to my lot which was my autistic grandsons version of Grandma. The Rev is GG - Granny God.
Thanks to whoever mentioned the Bank Holiday. I'd completely forgotten - one of the drawbacks of being retired when every day is a holiday.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Morning my lovelies
aw you are a super lot DS2 says thanks for the congrats XX
Stilty have you tried these people ? http://www.whizz-kidz.org.uk/ heard very good things about them from a lady I know who has prevailed of their services. Glad you got something sorted for MissStilty for now though...have you thought of investing in a good pair of shin pads for your good self????
I'm feeling quite chipper today even though its pertiddling down and I'm trapped indoors for the day.A positive mindset can overcome so many hardships in life I know sometimes we struggle along but you gotta have faith as George Michael would say lol so sending out some happy vibes to all my dear online friends have a great day all XXX
PS I have to clean the house today so I may not be quite so happy later...4 x men + animals = hoooge mess!!0 -
Thanks D&DD - I do know of them Whizz Kidz but need to be formally turned down by wheelchair services before we can apply to them - at the moment they are just not making an appointment! They also do some fab training days for kids on how to best use their wheels which we are planning on accessing when DD has got the hang of the basics - which judging by her performance in the playground when I dropped her off at school this morning won't be too long! - She managed to roll herself about 5 metres (even though it was inch by inch and took her a while). Bless - all the other kids at school seemed almost as made up with her new wheels as she is herself.
Shin pads might be a good idea, but I think a pair of steel toe capped boots might be an even better one!0
