Kidcat, I second your opinion on mammograms. I actually told my doctor I would go for one if he would go with me and drop his testicles on a plate and have them squished like a pancake and then tell me it didn't hurt. He at least had the good grace to laugh.
Weather is lovely today up to 18C
Mr. Collie is a liverwurst addict now. He sits and looks at the fridge and the Keflex doesn't seem to be bothering his tummy now. Hope the lurcher is feeling lithe and limber. Collie said being stiff is horrid.
I was very money efficient today. I had accumulated $100 worth of free groceries at one supermarket, so I went in today and cashed in my points. The freezer is full of meat and fish.
The husband is horrified at how expensive everything is. I don't think he's been shopping for food since the early 1980s. Retirement, hmm, he's attached to me like glue. He has hobbies and the annoying thing is he does them when I'm at work! Tomorrow, I work downtown in the health authority's office, so he will go and work on the plane he's rebuilding because "it's on the way".
Son started College yesterday and said he made the right choice on courses. He's off to tour different hospitals one day a week and meet the people who will be managing the apprenticeship/work experience part of the course. They will also be the people who do the hiring when he finishes. He's hoping to go to the hospital where I work because he will have access to the parking lots because of my staff card! Cheeky monkey.
Shergar, take it easy, rest up and just enjoy spring!0 -
Tell the Collie that the lurcher is horribly lithe and limber today having decided that 10 to 6 this morning was a really good time to give Mumi a face wash with his rough little tongue and that having done that it was time to GET UP!!! This duly done he went to bed in his armchair and I am sat here watching him sleep!!!!!
He Who Knows retired 14 years ago at the age of 55 and we've learned to live 'around' each other if that makes any sense at all. We don't have to make room any longer but each have our own areas that we work at and most of these overlap so we natter when we're in earshot but are both perfectly happy doing our own thing. You evolve a system that suits you both but it takes a little time for it to happen and it only does when you stop feeling guilty for leaving the other one of you to thier own devices while you tackle necessary jobs. You'll get there and be happy when you are, Lyn xxx.0 -
The RV stopped work at 60 through ill health and I was 55 and ill health. We are still, 8 yrs later, sort of in each other's way. He hasn't got any hobbies apart from the bike and that's a 4 months of the year hobby because of weather. He tends to get a bit down and depressing in winter, but living up here there's nowhere to go so he'll just have to get on with it.
Garden is finally waking up here and the wee apple tree has tiny bright green dots appearing on it's branches. Daffs are fading and tulips coming on, and the aquilegia is springing up like mushrooms overnight.
Waking up to wood pigeons and doves making a racket and during the day its peewits and plovers. I love this time of year.0 -
Sounds lovely Mar - we get wood pigeons but no peewits or plovers. We do get blackbirds and robins though. Are you feeling better again now? I found my pains started coming back, so, like you, I stopped the kelp tablets for a couple of weeks and re-started them, and am starting to feel better again.
Sheila- So glad you're feeling better and that your mammogram was ok. Sending best wishes to your sister.
monnogran - Good luck with the sorting and packing, rather you than me!
wondercollie - Glad Mr Collie is feeling better and that your son feels he chose the right courseWhat is he doing?
AOT I hope the injections help and that you'll get some energy back.
I know a lot of people are struggling atm, sending (((HUGS))) to you all.
I went out to get the bins in this morning, brushed past a rose bush and when I came in I realised my sleeve was covered in greenfly  Fingers x'd some ladybirds will come and have them for dinner.0 -
AOL........Did your dr test you for vitamin B deficiency ?, I ask cos my lips constantly dry out , im always using vaseline, blistex , etc and I read that it could be a lack of vitB............
Hi Shegar,
Vaseline & Blistex really dry your lips as they are petroleum based. Use a natural product (I use Burts Bees) and that will help. I get B12 every 10 weeks and I still get dry lips and skin. Super for energy though. I still take kelp and im convinced that helps too..0 -
Good morning. Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts.
Shegar I don't know exactly what she tested for but have had more bloods taken at her instruction since diagnosis - and further tests to look forward to.:o
I do get very dry lips and have always used Vaseline so thanks for the tip ivyleaf, I will get some Burts Bees stuff.
I have my second injection today and do so hope it will improve my energy levels - its desperate at times.
I'm going to the funeral of an old friend today so had better go and get ready.
Bye all.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
It will take a few weeks AOT but you are on the right road. I thought i did not need them but realised that when I was due an injection my fingertips had pins & needles and I felt weary. Sorry re your friend.0
-
Hello everyone,
Sorry to hear your friend passed away ((((AOT)))) - hope the funeral goes off smoothly. Glad you have started the injections, lets hope they kick in asap.
Glad the mammograms had good results. I had to have one a few years ago and can honestly say mine didn't hurt, just a little discomfort... now the biopsy in my nipple, that did hurt. Doc said you can squeeze the nurse's hand and I replied, I'll be fine, I'm good with pain. That poor woman's hand!!!
Have a little more get and go since yesterday so am making the most of it. Went back to the gym, first time in weeks and had a lovely shower after. Felt great after and all day. Did some shopping, errands and saw a friend.
Today I am itching to go into town to look in the chazzas but instead have picked up some clothes after school run for DS9 - NOTHING fits. I usually wait for sales, coupons etc but no time to wait. He is like the Hulk, this morning his school trousers split underneath, fortunately clean pairs in the wardrobe. Length is fine still but he is bulking out (now I know why he eats soooo much!) Bought a pair for him to try on but I know it will need hemming as will all the other pairs when I buy them. DS7 also growing out of his uniform and again a pile of trousers to hem (which takes me ages) Mine have never been a standard fit.
I am just taking a break from tackling the living room. Messy doesn't begin to describe it. On top of that DS7 has made a long curvy line of cars etc the entire length and I am trying to sweep round them as a daft mum does. He only finished it before school and is desperate to play when he gets back. Stripey cat thinks the cars are set out for him so I am putting them back as well!
Had a round robin email from MIL, saying she is intending to visit this month. The week she wants to visit is bang in the middle of an exam for DH and DS9's birthday and half term. There is no way she is coming here, just hope DH agrees with me. Haven't seen her for about 2 years since DH told her we had had enough of her appalling behaviour. My sister has also been asking again if boys can stay at my parents, the answer will be no there too. None of them understand that we are no longer putting up with their behaviour and we have had nothing positive back, just the same old stuff. Sorry to go on, I just feel its all starting up again, for my side its the big summer holidays looming.
right back to it, can't wait to have a clean and tidy lounge again... will be short lived, DS9 has a friend here after a school club

Sq hope you get your Oh to agree with you re MIL, you dont want to have to contend with her malarky when theres so much going on.
Glad the mammograms went well. My last one was done by a nasty nurse and she ripped the skin under my arm but all that mattered was it was clear. I know a few men who would benefit from a testicle-o- gram :rotfl:
I have been taking my kelp and multi vits religiously for a month and now have the flu - Im sure it would have been much worse without themjust off to crawl into a bath in an effort to chase it away. I have all the doors and windows open to chase the germs away.
Booked a short break in a couple of weeks to our favourite fishing village in Lincolnshire- thank you fleabay - and got a huge discount again. Am determined to get a day at the coast and re-charge my batteries but if not will content myself with sitting near the lake and pretending.
AOT glad to hear you are getting your injections - you will soon be feeling much better. Sorry for your loss, hope the day goes as well as can be expected. xClearing the junk to travel light

I will get my caravan0 -
I retired at 60 and Himself at 65, but 18months prior to his retirement he had a massive heart attack. He had been gardening, came into the house and I thought something was not quite right, he was just odd. At that time there was an advert saying "if you think someone is having a heart attack phone 999, it doesn't matter if you are wrong" or words to that effect.
I phoned 999, explained he had no pain at all, but something wasn't quite right and paramedics were here within minutes. It turns out I was right, and we ended up going to hospital with the blues and twos and he had 2 stents put in.
The thing is afterwards he couldn't bear for me to be out of his sight because he had lost all his confidence. He is much better now but it was very difficult at the time because we had both worked and gone about our business and sort of met up at weekends (he worked shifts as well). We used to joke that we were like ships that passed in the night.
He went back to work because he wanted to get his 40 years service in, but I know it was difficult for him.
We rattle along nicely now in our retirement, thank goodness, but that was a trying time and it was difficult knowing someone was so reliant on you.
