Kidcat Just popped in to add my 'twopennorth' I HATE ironing sheets & quilt covers & always buy poly cotton but some are so thin they bobble & look shabby very quickly. As others have recommended Dunelm do Dorma poly cotton ( apparently they now own them) - a really good weight & I've had mine a couple of years now & they're still lovely. I always know which they are in the airing cupboard as they wash up really well ( & nice & crispy on the bed) I don't buy anything else now although they are a tad more expensive they are worth it.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

We have bits of sun here, but no rain which is something. It's been a bit frustrating for weeks now, sun everywhere south of York it seems and not much north.
Off to play with my new toys of compost, herb seeds and terracotta pot - £2 in Wilko's.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

Hi all, was having a nice day until...... some egit ran into the back of my car. I had mum and DD in the car, and we stopped for the zebra crossing thingy, as an old lady was just crossing - not as though that should mater who it was. The traffic the other side had stopped too. This young lad, possibly about 17 was show boating and revving up his moped, didn't attempt to stop and hit the back of my car and then dropped the bike. His first words were, what did you stop for. My reply, the zebra crossing you ....... head. It was a rude word. Rang the police as he refused to tell me his name address or insurance details. As soon as I said I wanted them to attend, he reluctantly and rather cockily gave me some details. I am so angry.
Its only broke the plastic trim off the bumper, but it costs a lot to buy the car in the first place. He said it would cost about a tenner to repair, obviously he hasn't entered the adult world yet.
Sorry for the rant, ive spoke to OH. He was worried I was ok. Well I have to go to work now, just for a few hours.
Take care all, xBSC member 137

Nutty - hope you are all ok, obviously the idiot needs a life lesson, personally I would put claims in for the psychological distress for the three of you, and tie him up in paperwork for a while. Maybe he will earn a very important lesson and be more careful in future. Hopefully the police will look at him very carefully too.
Thank you for the sheet advice, I ordered from Dunelm last night and collected today -I am useless and I ordered wrong!! I must not have read the description properly, because it says on the packet satin finish and I just missed it I have ended up with a satiny type one rather than a crisp cottony one - oops, will need to go back as I will react to the satiny one
As for ironing bedding errr no, I have never ironed any bedding at all, I struggle to find the hours to iron the kids clothes never mind bedding too.
Have managed to start packing last night and am pleased its under way.
Have also lined up DD19 meals, all ready for her, individual portions frozen and marked up for her.
ETA - Jem - lovely to hear from you, so good that you have managed to get your DS back into school, how is your health?0 -
Bonjour mes amies, wow is Paris ever the very best place I've ever been to? We have had such a lovely time, the weather has been so nice 16 - 18 degrees, our hotel was in a cul de sac and we had a bedroom at the back overlooking a courtyard garden so very quiet but 100 meters from the Arc de Triumph in the middle of the city. We have been to the Eiffel Tower. Sacre Cour and Montmartre, Notre Dame and the Latin Quarter, did a circular bus trip, a river trip, went to the Natural History Gardens and the Zoo, went to the Louvre, the Musee d'Orsay, The Orangerie, had coffee on the pavement on a street corner, had Croque Monsieur for lunch, visited the Tuilleries garden and had lunch there yesterday under the horse chestnut trees which are in full bloom, sat beside the little pond there watching the kiddies playing with wooden sailing boats and sticks to make then sail, yomped up and down the Champs Elysees so many times I feel like we own it, walked 16 - 18 Kilometers every day, saw so many things, did so much, it was a wonderful time and got back in at 9.30 last night a little late as the plane had a couple of technical blips that had to be sorted out before take off. I'm happy to be home again though and my Docky was in the arrivals lounge at the airport to meet us and so happy he just wiggled and pinged and licked for ages, bless him. Been busy today with washing, ironing and housework etc and just waved DD1 and He Who Knows off to take her home and have a couple of days walking in the hills and have some together time on their own, I even got a call from DD2 and baby Zebra who is now making the most delicious a-goo noises and gurgles on the phone, awwwwww, He's so lovely and now weighs well over 10lbs and has gone into size 2 nappies, so all the kerfuffle over his weight has sorted itself out and DD is much more relaxed with the whole motherhood thing, as it should be!!!
Hope that everyone is OK and that all the poorlies are making good progress, glad you're feeling better SHEILA but very sad to hear the news about your sister, wait and see I guess? MOLLY hope all is now going well and thinking of you, looking forward to that post that tells us you're picking up and feeling better love. MONNAGRAN just enjoy your time out and stick by the resolution to lose a few things in the move, it works very well as a strategy!!! FUDDLE look out for the postman, he might just be bringing something you'll like!!! Look after yourselves, I'm off to make a cuppa, english tea is one thing I've been short of in the past few days so I'm making up for it now, Lyn xxx.0 -
