Evening all - super news Burtha, so pleased for you.

Today has been my first adventure into slow cooker land and it has been resounding success. I had a tutorial today so browned off some YS casserole beef and chucked it in the slow cooker with carrot, onion, celery, red wine, stock and some thyme and left it to it! DD positively wolfed her dinner and ours was still sitting there a couple of hours later when we had sorted out the small people's baths and even yummier. will definitely be exploring this further - will be so useful on days when I am off 'being important' at my various parent carer forum meetings. Even DH can brown meat and chuck stuff in a slow cooker for later! and he will, oh yes he will whether he want to or not! Mwahaha!

    Take care all - HX

    Great news Burtha!

Stilty - I love my SC. yesterday at 6am I chucked in a couple of on the turn tomatoes, 2 sticks of celery sliced up, 2 courgettes, a tin of tomatoes and half a bag of frozen peppers.....a good pinch of black pepper, some oregano and a beef stock cube for a bit of depth.....it had about 4 hours before I blitzed it....delish tomato sauce to use with pasta or as a pizza base.

Nutty - sent you a message in FB :)

Hi all, had a super busy day yesterday at work. No cover to help out either. Had a visit from OH to close up at night, so I felt a lot better.

Burtha, good news.... just a shame the locum couldn't wait to leave.

Pooky, I got your message. Thankyou. When its all finished, please post on here for everyone to see how clever you are.

DD broke up with her BF yesterday, so you can imagine the tears. I was at work but luckily DD fianc! stepped in to help his 'lil sister' as he calls her. Her actual sisiter picked her up and took her to town to meet her friends for bowling, lots of pics on facebook of her happy, yay for good friends!! She was due to go to Scotland tomorrow with him, so its a good job they broke up before the trip and not during it.

So retail therapy for DD, off to primarni for a few bits n bobs x

    take care x

Oh nutty poor dd but isnt it lovely that the fiance stepped in to look after her. I can't believe work don't provide someone to lock up with you at night. It's shocking.

Am up and had a burst of energy so have managed a chilli, chicken and sweetcorn soup and two lemon curd cake all before 10am.
Next we have to tackle the car and give it good clean and sort ready for Friday.

    ahh that explains it :rotfl:

Toughies I have a problem, I need to buy new fitted sheets, it appears OH has eaten the others :D well they have disappeared anyway. But I can't go into store this week, (neither of the boys will cope with a trip to the kind of store I would need) and I have no idea what sort of things I should be looking for online. I usually open the packet a little and feel the material :o. Any suggestions please?

Kidkat - do you prefer cotton or a poly mix? If it's pure cotton then the thread count is the thing to look for - the higher the thread count the closer the weave and the heavier/thicker the fabric will be (and the more expensive).

I have some poly cotton sheets from dun-elm that are fab - they're online and reasonably priced - wash well and don't seem to go bobbly like some can.

DDD - Needed my thermals here today - sun was out but that wind was cutting. I spent as little time as possible out there.

I had a good clean through this morning and then settled down to some cutting - had to give up due to my hand seizing up which was a shame as I was really enjoying it. Some friends popped round this afternoon so I had a couple of hours of legitimate rest time (well aside from tea/coffee making).

DD2 has a stinking cold now to match DD1's so she's spent all day lounging around in bed and pathetically asking for juice or hot chocolate....but she's fine to go to the zoo tomorrow if the weathers nice.......I asked her to unload the dishwasher but apparently bending over would make her cough. She must think I was born yesterday and I bet everything is in the wrong cupboards just to make a point :)

Used the last of the Christmas frozen gammon in tonights tea, my store cupboard is looking a little empty (my empty and anyone elses empty may vary) so I think I might need to do an AF order soon.....any good offers on??
