Cornishchick - glad things went well. I always feel that interval between death and the funeral is a horrible limbo land, in which nothing seems real. I am sure you will still have "down" days but it sounds like you have a supportive family and good friends when you need them. All the best in this new stage of your life. One life - your life - live it!0

CC my Mum always said 'its having no one to tell you forgot the tomatoes' the little things in other words. You have a process to go through and its hard but as we all know you have a lovely family and that helps. Be good to yourself and do everything as YOU want, there isnt an instruction book on greiving. So glad you posted, we have all been holding our breath xxxx
Welcome Vicky, we are here for all, support is free.
I am off to the hospital for a blood pressure monitor and am angry about it. I have never had high blood pressure except when pregnant and Im certainly not that  The blood pressure tester at my Gps is so tight its painful and makes you yelp - Im no wuss so am sure its the machine giving a bad reading or causing it. We eat little fatty food, have no deep fat fryer, use miniscule amounts of salt and Im damn sure 10 hours of Dgs on Saturday is enough excercise (well the nurse said it was) apart from looking after Oh. They say stress is not related to Bp but I cannot agree. They also reckon my DS has high bp too and he cant understand it either. Anyway another stressful day which hopefully will prove they are wrong but I guess we will find out soon.Clearing the junk to travel light

When the cat's away the mice can play on their computers before 10.00pm.
Can't believe the freedom. Don't get me wrong, I love her to bits but life is never restful when she is around.
DS and DGD called in this morning. He had some business in the town so I had a whole hour of toddler worship. We went for a walk which involved wandering into people's gardens, into every shop and estate agents on the way to the bank where we had a happy 10 minutes annoying the pigeons. Then the return journey where we revisited the shops etc. We must have been walking for half an hour or so and she was still full of beans when we got home. Not bad for 18 months.
CC. Lovely to hear from you. Petal, all any of us can do is take each day as it comes, none of us know what is just around the corner. You and your DH obviously shared the same sense of humour and that will carry you over a good many sticky moments. Loved the fire lighters idea. The Rev took a spreading of the ashes ceremony last Nov 5th and we all stood round the spot holding sparklers.
Princess: You and me both on our own then. I'm planning to make the most of every minute...come on, indulge yourself.
Don't have to cook today if I don't want to, and I don't. It'll be a sandwich lunch before I go off to speak to some Women's Meeting this afternoon. Now ......what shall I talk about?

Ginny: Don't get worked up. I've been told that I have 'slightly raised' BP every time it has been taken since I was 18. I'm always told to go back after a month to see someone, but I never have done. I get my free TV licence next month and visit my doctor roughly every other decade so I'm not going to start panicking now. It may be white coat syndrome or any other factor. Good luck!.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Thanks Monna, will definatley try not to worry however the nurse was shocked how high it is and I told her everything I have been through the last 12 months and got upset. She was lovely and very kind to Oh whom she popped on a handy bed to rest. The damn thing is very squeezy and makes me wince every half an hour. It goes off hourly in the night so I bought 2 nice magazines so I can sit and read. She said I need to pin down the Gp and tell her I cant cope but thats easier said than done. She was also amazed the Gp had me x rayed which proves I am riddled with arthritis from the waist up yet wont treat it and has just said take painkillers. Anyway I will persevere, get treatment and go back to avoiding the Gp like I usually do
Oh took me to lunch at Sainsb's and bought me a very pretty top as a suprise. The shelves had lots of empty spaces, me thinks all the Sm's are struggling and hope we wont noticeClearing the junk to travel light

Ginny can you change gp? If your one isn't doing all they can then they are not worth having. There is also a service called health watch they investigate all health providers and will look into the practise if you call and raise your concerns. It's not c like making a complaint and they don't look at individual cases but if you raise an issue they look at the practice in general and how they can improve.0

Sadly there not a space at the near by Gp's and mine has just been off sick for 3 months so we have been coping with locums, none of whom lasted long as the surgery is so badly run. One lovely locum who was a big help left after a day as they wouldnt let her have the heating on in January  She is good with Oh though its just that she thinks women should cope.Clearing the junk to travel light

Thank you everyone for your lovely welcome.
nuttyp - we're getting an Aldi, but it's just going through final planning permission so I don't need the voucher just quite yet.
I've had a good day trying to shift a massive pile of catalogues and magazines. Anything that's out of date by a few months have gone and anything with a name and/or address has been shredded.
Also managed to buy some plants from a local DIY store. Forgot to get a few things, so popped into Wilkos and got the bits for far cheaper. Felt good about that.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0
