What good news Kidcat. I thought of you right in the middle of doing my Health and Hygiene test - for the last time, I hope. Like every time I wonder that my family has survived so long with me doing all the wrong things but our lovely instructor pointed out This was the law, This was best practice, This would stop us being sued and This was real life.

It's funny old weather here. Warm but foggy in the mornings - Twice I have been woken up by the fog horns on the Solent.

Once I have made my vat of leek and potato soup for the church's Soup and Sweet lunch tomorrow I have great hopes of doing a few things round the house. I manage to keep the kitchen and bathroom quite clean and clear but the rest of the house........................

I long for order but probably won't fully get it until the removal van pulls away from the house.

I planted more of the green stuff yesterday .......... not that anything is growing - haven't actually seen the sky in days.

DS2 planted a jelly baby though .... his Grandad "told" him that he could plant one to get a "Jelly Baby Tree" ...... its his birthday next week and he is getting an apple tree planted in its place with bags of jelly babies tied to it ................. that should confuse him LOL

Can I plant the seeds now MG? of the nameless green stuff? I use it in soup. Or is there no point as its too cold?

    Morning all :)

Mar it should be fine to sow now even up there in the chilly north.I did mine in a cold greenhouse a few weeks ago and its up already.
You should be ok with any brassicas, leeks and onions etc and even some lettuce doesn't like it too warm to germinate.

MrsLW sorry to hear your OH has been poorly hope he feels better soon XX

Baking today, made the mistake of asking my lot for requests..I may be a while..

Kidcat I'm glad it was good news :)

AOT we've got a 16 foot row on our allotment and another 16 foot row of the early rhubarb on the allotment we share with our 80 year old friend Norman, I say share, it's his really but He Who Knows and another friend do all the digging/preparation work so Normie can carry on gardening and sometimes sit in the sun shouting instructions, he's lovely!!! It keeps him active and gives him some company and lots of produce, most of which he gives away to his friends. That's how it SHOULD work isn't it? Lyn xxx.

KIDCAT like I said to NUTTY thank God for that, literally!!! So pleased all is well for you too love, Hugs and you sleep well tonight too!!! Lyn xxx.

That's lovely MrsL, I'm hoping the previous owner of our lottie will still pop by to give us pointers. We did tell him any time he misses digging to feel free :rotfl:

That's soooo funny. Camera at the ready for his expression please.

More odd jobs at NNHMs house. We're getting there, hubby took him to B%Q yesterday to get some new taps but I don't think he has been there before and he treated it as a day out :rotfl: DH was in there three hours :rotfl:

Oh well looks like DH will be going to heaven and I will get a peaceful afterlife.

My lettuce popped through but then stopped dead in its tracks. This marks a full week of no sun and we haven't hit 10C since the 21st of March. Heavy rain lashing the windows now and wind starting to blow a wee bit.
    I need a bl**dy holiday.

I am getting my shopping delivered tomorrow from Asda - £1 delivery cost. Anyone know why it is so low?
I had an introductory offer from Ocado that charged me £1 for delivery. If I'd had a bigger basket, it would've been no charge!

I am not sure it's sunk in yet but to see others be taken away for bad news and hear some of the stories I indeed feel very blessed this evening.
Congratulations! When I found out a few years ago that I was clear, and there were just a few cysts that needed to be drained (twice!!!) I felt very blessed, as you say.

I'm not surprised you need a holibob! But I am in absolute awe of your optimism in planting lettuce up there, at this time of year. Good for you :T:T:T

MG - Nice way to confuse DS2 :) Terrible waste of a jelly baby though!

Mar - Spring will get to you, we're nearly done with it so I'll send it up.

Mrs LW - We're all covered in the sand too - pretty colour but I could do without having to wash the car this week. It's playing havoc with lots of peoples asthma. Hope Mr LW is feeling perkier today.

So far so good this morning - it's bright and breezy and warm enough to have the back door wide open - need to pop out to do the prescription run and see if DD1 will get out of her pit and come get her holiday essentials - she's off to Spain on Sunday with her "boys" (male best friend and her boyfriend) - her first trip abroad with us parents. DD2 breaks up today and isn't back until 22nd April - then it's just a few weeks until she's on study leave. Around 23 school days left for her! How did my baby grow up so quickly?
