I hope your OH's asthma improves MrsLW. My youngest son suffers and I know how difficult it can be. Don't think we in the chilly, damp and grey North East haven't been affected too much by the pollution.
Thanks Ginnyknit, stiltwalker, Pooky, mummymaria and Kidkat, I'm a bit shaken and bruised after the fall the other day but otherwise ok. The thick coating of fat I carry is good protection at least. Am glad its good for something. And NO GQ, there was not alcohol in my system at the time - mores the pity. It might have helped me bounce.:rotfl::rotfl:
Been thinking of you today Kidkat and hoping things have gone well for you.
I have rhubarb envy MrsLW. My father always had some growing under an old fire bucket in the garden - I didn't realise for years how expensive it is to buy. I might have a try at growing it on my veranda when the work is finished.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -

Evening toughies Thank you so much for your support today. I could feel you with me while I waited. I saw the surgeon who wasn't happy the gp had given me antibiotics, she said that it would mean an abcess would have gone down and mean we may not be sure. However she examined me and said she could feel nothing which supported the abcess theory but sent me for mammogram just in case.
I have to say nutty I think your description was very kind, I did wonder if mammograms had been originally thought of as a torture device. Oh my word out hurt.
Thankfully after three hours of waiting she returned to say all was clear.
I am not sure it's sunk in yet but to see others be taken away for bad news and hear some of the stories I indeed feel very blessed this evening.
I went straight to school meeting for ds10 and then on to school runs, easter bonnet production, dinner, swimming prep and usual chaos. Am so looking forward to being able to sit down tonight.
eta fuddle in my area workers are not expected to be in a home of anyone who smokes for longer than a few minutes. I am fairly sure that there was govt guidance a while back that was causing a major ruckus as people were saying it was their right to smoke at home but they shouldn't be denied care etc but the guidance was clear that workers needed protecting.0 -
AOT we've got a 16 foot row on our allotment and another 16 foot row of the early rhubarb on the allotment we share with our 80 year old friend Norman, I say share, it's his really but He Who Knows and another friend do all the digging/preparation work so Normie can carry on gardening and sometimes sit in the sun shouting instructions, he's lovely!!! It keeps him active and gives him some company and lots of produce, most of which he gives away to his friends. That's how it SHOULD work isn't it? Lyn xxx.
KIDCAT like I said to NUTTY thank God for that, literally!!! So pleased all is well for you too love, Hugs and you sleep well tonight too!!! Lyn xxx.0 -
Kidcat :T:T:T:T:T:T thank goodness xxx
Fuddle you may find a lot of your fellow carers have refused to work in that persons home. asda are doing the £1 delivery as they are desperate for custom, all the big 3 are suffering from low sales and are coming up with ingenoius ways to make money - ie one of them treats its workers like idiots and the managers are under so much pressure they dont know what they are doing - I wont name them but may well go and thump someone of they dont clean up their act with a close relative of mine  I cannot bear it when they treat staff badly, there is no excuse. Treat them well and they work better - so sad!Clearing the junk to travel light

I will get my caravan0 -
fuddle found this which has some bits which may be useful, it sounds similar to what our area currently do, householder must agree not to smoke for an hour before the visit, nor during the visit. Windows must be opened as well I think.

Wow it's quiet in here where is everyone??0 -
Glad to hear all was clear Kidkat
You know how Mar feels about the green stuff that shan't be named? Well that's how I feel about rhubarb.....blugh - vile stuff.
It's turned really chilly here this evening - I've been sitting at the laptop too long and now I'm at that "silly cold" stage - think it's time for a cup of tea and bed!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Pooky, properly stewed rhubarb is the food of the gods. Put it in thick yogurt. There are even some lovely jam recipes using it.
I have memories of a bowl of sugar and a stalk of raw rhubarb in the garden when I was child. Don't think I could do that now though.
I need to go back to bed. Four hours sleep isn't enough0 -
