Princess - So glad your dental op is over and done with
Well done for being so brave.
I had sedation a few months ago and made the mistake of buying two pairs of shoes the next day. Had to take them both back to the shop once I could think properly again, as they were both too big
I hope the people who are going to get new cats will post a pic or two when they've arrived
Mardatha - Ragdolls are gorgeous - they do get quite big though. I had a look at a book about them once, in P a H - it suggested getting your kitten used to the idea that you are the one who decides when it can get down from your arms, while it's still little, so that you won't later have a hefty cat using you as a launching pad
So WBD is rearing its head againAt my DGKs's school the parents are told what the children are to come as! They always seem to be finding excuses to get the children to dress up. My DD complained to the school in the end last year, after she had had to provide 6 costumes for each of her two children in 8 months. The school's response was "Oh, but we feel it's fun for the children!"
Yes, but not much fun for the parents  Admittedly some are comfortably off, but some aren't!
Fuddle - So glad your talk with the Head went okay.0 -
Ivyleaf - yes WBD is usually a nightmare for us. DS9 is ok as his class are doing PJs, but DD7 class have to take in her favourite book and do a permanent swap with someone else - trouble is there is no way she will want to give away her favourite book!
I have managed to achieve alot of sorting today, OH took stuff to charity shop and tip for me and I sorted the coat cupboard out enough to get the shoe storage in there as well. Then blitzed the hall. Was really pleased with the results then got a call from the decorator, he can either come Tues for the decorating or not until April, which is too late. So we are now on a mad dash to clear living room and DD7 bedroom by Tues:eek::eek::eek:
I am really pleased it is getting done finally, and we are moving everything forward, but am really  about getting both rooms cleared enough in time.
A friend has had her mum looking into builders for me and she has found one who is doing her neighbours extension, and making a really good job of it. She has spoken to them about my kitchen and he has said as its such a small job they can do it one Saturday morning - 25th March!! :j:j:j
Have waited months for all of this to get sorted its hard to believe its actually happening now
My parents arrived unannounced last night, during their call this week I had said we were going out Friday night and had stuff on all weekend, they chose to ignore me and arrived just as we were leaving to take DD7 to her school event and DD19 was on her way out as well. They were very put out when I went out anyway, but as I said to OH, they were extremely lucky I allowed them in to see him and DS9.
Had a text today to say how upset they were that they didnt get to see everybody, I refrained from replying0 -
Princess, glad you're out the other side and not had too bad an experience, well done om going through with it!
Kidcat, families, eh? Do pm me when you feel less flustered.WBD for our two is simple - they can dress in pj's, take any book to swap, if they want, no pressure if they don't want to do either. Teachers just going to have story-reading sessions at points during the day, maybe making hot choc (the theme is bed time reading, hence the pj's!).
We had a lovely birthday tea for DS, even though he's in his twenties he had a football themed cake etc!

Am sitting trying to work out how many boxes I will need this week - have a feeling its going to be like moving day all over again!:)0 -
Well done Princess on slaying the Dentist Dragon. Don't worry about eating (the only way I am ever going to lose weight is to have my mouth sewn up!) just wrap yourself in comfort, or a duvet, take the opportunity to spoil yourself. I prescribe lots of lovely ice cream, jelly, yoghurts, smoothies....whatever floats your boat.
Lyn: Haven't been to a real oldfashioned jumble sale for years. We used to have them when I started teaching. There was always a disaster. A child once found a pair of high heeled shoes for dressing up in and while she was trying them on someone sold her sensible Clark's school shoes. Once the headmaster took off his jacket and hung it on the back of a chair. That was the last he ever saw of it.
Kidcat: How dare anyone criticise you for having a cleaner. Have they never had a window cleaner or someone to do something in the garden? There are lots of jobs I would willingly pay someone else to do. Not only does the cleaner help you but you are giving her employment too, it's win win.
How dare the school make children swap their favourite book. Where do these people come from? Books are friends and to be treasured for ever.
A final 'How Dare'. How dare your parents try to make you feel guilty for doing what you told them you would be doing. Perhaps, if it happens often enough they might finally twig that if you say you won't be there then YOU WON'T BE THERE.
Sorry. Steam is pouring out of my ears.
Kez: I've had some disasters in my kitchen from time to time, but never an exploding cake. I must try harder.
Burtha: Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. Guilt is an over-rated emotion. Don't give in to it.
Oh, how my heart goes out to all you parents struggling with costumes for WBD. I was never any good at that and it didn't seem to me to have anything to do with educating my child, which was what I sent them to school for.
I do just remember sending DS1 out to the friend's car who was giving him a lift to school. He suddenly ran back in and said,"Oh, Mum, I forgot, I'm a donkey in the play this afternoon and have to take a costume." He narrowly escaped with his life.

DD is going to be a character out of Tracy Beaker for WBD, therefore needing only normal clothes. Also works for Famous Five etc etc. For years she has been the only girl in her class not coming in a princess dress, but I suspect now they're in year 4 there might be less princesses this year.
Looking after my friend's kittens this weekend, they're very sweet! But definitely no more animals here.0 -
From the sound of school these days, I'm glad my sons are adults!
Wound up back on night shift this weekend due to the regular nurse being down with the lurgy. I had planned on staying hunkered down for the weekend due to the cold. It was -43 when I left work this morning. I'm not looking forward to leaving in six hours!.
Even the collie doesn't want to go out. He's doing the go outside ever six hours because the humans make me.
I am a very iffy baker. Cakes are usually a safe make for me. My breadmachine is beginning to cooperate.
Stay warm.0 -
To be honest I still don't know how it exploded.
I poured warmish chocolate ganache / icing on top of the chocolate fudge cake, left it on a plate to set.
Came back three hours later and they it was splattered everywhere.
Even the cats were hiding when we got back!!!
ouch collie the weather sounds nasty, I can handle minus temperatures just can't stand the same awful dreadful weather0 -

Thank you everyone. I have tried many things to “try” and eat, But not much is working. I’m on tablets, Which states, I must eat with them. I cant, Resulting in a burning tummy & sickness. But, I have been told all this is “normal” and so OH brought me some complan I think its called.
Woke up early because of the pain, So I decided to do some easy things to take my mind off it. So I have cleared the paperwork pile, Paid bills & updated our debt sheet.
Thinking of making OH a curry in the S/C as he has been amazing in putting up with me.
Ivyleaf: hahaha….I’m glad I had someone with me, That’s something I would have done xxFuture goals:
Become debt free.
Beat Depression.
Be happy & healthy0
