Big hugs Kidcat - last thing you need really isn't it? Chin up an don't let them get to you, you are worth so much more than that.
Got the brown envelope I'd been waiting for (well one of them) today - we applied for Higher rate mobility for DS as he is coming up 3 and it has been awarded. Should be really relieved but it did make me cry as it has been awarded to same date as his MRC was already til the day before he turns 12. It's good in that I won't have to face the forms again for a good long time but sad that he's been assessed as meeting the HRM criteria for that long. Just waiting for DD's renewal now. Keep everything crossed!0 -
Shergar, the deviated septum surgery sounds worse than it is. My son had it done when he was 16 and said it was the best thing. He doesn't snore anymore and isn't sniffing all the time. I also work on a unit that sinus surgery is cared for. It really sounds scarier than it is. Just ask if they will be using packing and which type. Some surgeons prefer to pack with what are basically nose tampons and they get pulled within 48 hours of surgery. Again it sounds worse than it is.
You just have to take the rest of the week easy and not do any lifting and avoid fatty food, because the last thing you want to do is vomit because the nose feels "stuffed up" for a good couple of weeks post op.
All our insulin dependent diabetics are admitted the morning of surgery and as soon as they can tolerate fluids the IV is removed.
Fuddle: my lemon drizzle cakes are disasters. Always too wet.
The husband does volunteer. He rebuilds WWII bombers. The museum is being moved over the next year, so hopefully they will get him out of the house once the weather warms up and the ice melts.0 -
Morning all,
Have a few minutes this morning so wanted to pop in. It looks like I've missed plenty.
Wanted to offer hugs and support to Cornish Chick.
Dance classes can be a mixed bag. I would say that at the first whiff of any mention of body size, objectionable performance outfits (objectionable in price or style), any indication of catty competition from the students, or snarky comments from teachers that you should look for a new class. Dance can be wonderful, truly. It can also be terrible and scarring. I've done all sorts of dance classes over the years and while I think it can be a great activity, I think it needs careful monitoring from parents, aunts, grandparents and anyone who is close to the young person.
We've had a few photos of the kitten and pick it up a week saturday. This last photo it was sitting up and we could see it will have little white paws, a white ring around its next and a white bit down its front. Looks like it is wearing a sharp grey suit and tie, not exactly a tuxedo cat but very smart! I'm thrilled.
Work has been very full on, but I met a major milestone last night. I've handed in a full first draft of everything apart from the conclusion which I will be desperately trying to finish over the weekend. There is still a lot of work to come, so much it makes me feel a bit sick at times but I'm also trying to take a moment here or there to think about how far I've come.
Shegar and Princess, big hugs. I wish both of you a speedy and comfortable recovery.0 -
Morning toughies ((hugs)) to Princess this morning, hope you are starting to feel a little better.
FPK - can't wait to see photos of your new kitty
Stiltwalker - these things are always a mixed bag, whilst there is good in it, they always come with a bad feeling too, ((hugs))
Mardatha - I think we are settled on Wellington Womble for the boy, although Dumbledore is still in the race and there is a late entry of D'Artagnan. What have you chosen? When do you meet breeders?
Kitty fever has taken over the house, with everything being considered in kitten terms, we have open spindles on the stairs that we are looking at covering in temporarily to prevent kitten accidents, especially as our older two both jump down the stairs that way.
Managed to get my vouchers yesterday so am off to do a big shop later, also bought OH his new glasses at Mr T yesterday and we were given a £5 of Mr T spend for next weekAs I am doing two kids parties in two weeks I will manage to use both I think
DD7 is very excited that its only a week and a day to her birthday and party - I am rather more apprehensive as whilst I know I finished the shopping weeks ago, I am nervous I will have forgotten something. No idea why. DS9 birthday is 10 days away so he is gearing up to major excitement mode. Thankfully as his party is mid week, his party is at the weekend, which should keep excitement to manageable levels0 -

Morning folks,
Grey and rainy day today and forecast the same all day. In stark contrast to the warm sunshine we have had lately. Managed to turn around a potential wobbly morning for DS7, turned on the radio for the journey and as we got to school a bit early had a little dance in the car together which did the trick. DS9 read and muttered about how embarrasing we were.
Shegar - just think how different things might be a few months.... hopefully weeks from now. Hang in there love.
Kidcat - in total empathy with the parents' situation. Just sending hugs again today.
Loving all this kitten talk. DS9 asked the other day if we could have kittens when we no longer have posh cat and stripy cat - I really don't want to think about it as much as I love kittens.
Got to go now to my counselling session - really not in the mood today but will go. Had an email (a nice one for a change) from my sister the other day and my head is all over the place.

Well the questionable dance costume has already arrived, and when I went to pick up DD from dance class last night it was like the knitters sitting around the guillotine, loads of mums sewing costumes and talking about their competition in Wales (which the mums must all be going to, as they were talking about doing supermarket shops for it). Apologies to those who get involved like this but it's SO not me it makes me rather panic even to think about it. I don't like the costume she has been given at all (but presumably we are borrowing rather than buying it at least) but we had already said she could do a local competition and that she wouldn't be able to do them regularly, so we are going to let her do this one. No idea about make up, but TBH I wouldn't be so bothered about that for a show as it's part of dressing up. False eyelashes and fake tan are big no nos for me though! We shall see how it goes. She doesn't have friends there but she does love it, and it's the only 2 hours of exercise she will willingly and enthusiastically do, so I'd like to support it.
Rainy miserable day here but no sign of the snow that was talked about.0 -
I no longer have a lodger, she's gone off to pastures new and I wish her well in her new life. It's a relief if I'm honest to have an empty house again, and be able to get back to our usual meals and not have to worry about anything other than what affects us day to day. He Who Knows has gone off to DD1 for a couple of days, she was given all the rafters from a loft conversion in a house down the road which will fuel her woodburner for all of next winter and he's gone up to de-nail and saw them up for her to go into her woodshed and then on to see DD2 and Zebra on Sunday and take a couple of things to her so I'll have a nice quiet weekend here with my boy. It feels like a holiday at the moment, I'm more relaxed than I've been for weeks and I'm free, happy days, Lyn xxx.0

Lovely MrsL, enjoy your day
Kidcat we're going for a Ragdoll, although I've never even seen one in real life. I don't like kittens in general cos they are like wee kids , a PITA lol - but in long run probably easier than coping with somebody else's problem cat. The breeders are just starting this season's production now, so will be end of March at earliest before any kittens are born. Three within reach have my details and when they have kittens they will let me know. Then we will go and have a look and choose one.
Names have not been easy!! Far worse than the kids were - I wanted Ragnar (the Ragdoll) but the RV flatly refuses to go around shouting RAGNAR COME AND GET YER DINNER so we have settled on Podge or Furball0
