I can only imagine the relief you're feeling to get your home back Lyn. It doesn't how considerate a house guest is I think it is difficult to fully relax.

Possession eldest DD went to one dance lesson back up when we lived in the damp house. Thankfully it wasn't her thing but I felt the same as you. This dance class and brand specific lipstick and colour and eyeshadow colour that all girls had to wear. That, the costumes, the mother clubs, the raffles you had to enter and pay for as part of the class fee and the extortionate costs we would have had to pay to take part in the shows, we didn't go back. It's not my thing. I have no objection to my children showing their talents but to show their appearance isn't something I could support. It would have been so difficult had she wanted to continue though.

Just met the head of the school I've been talking about. We arranged a meeting. She was very humble and apologetic. She had a chance to read my letter at that point and understood my position. She actually held on to my hand at the end and said some very nice things. I would like to think that I've altered attitudes a little. We'll see at next years parents evening I guess.

HFW bacon and leek pudding steaming as I type :) recipe on guardian online. Another evening off so I can play housewife :D

My lovely neighbour has cut back our hedge while she was doing her own. I'd love to gift her something handmade and I'm thinking a lemon drizzle cake as can do them pretty much without fail. She's 70 but by gosh you wouldn't know it!

Monnagran have you ruffled any official's feathers yet re: your friend?

I'm nearly out of my blanket wool. Using acrylic so not too bad to get more but as my bed blanket is huge a ball doesn't go very far. DH was is London overnight and I found myself lying in bed crocheting listening to radio 4 (until they spoke about green ways of burying bodies that is) I did feel a little old (sorry!) but you can't beat contentment eh?
I heard that Radio 4 programme too.

Cheapskate will PM you later when I am sat down, its manic here at the moment, with usual friday chaos, shopping to deal with and DD7 has a film night tonight, while DD19 is off to Manchester to see some comedy thing or other :)

Mardatha - I have no idea what the RV is objecting to ;) we had similar discussions over names but as they arent allowed outside at all, I didn't worry too much about silly names other than vet visits, when I suppose I could use their pedigree showing names (which are way worse than anything my lot could come up with! ) and blame the breeder :)

DS9 has come home with a note about world book day, thankfully his class are doing a reading in bed theme so wearing PJs, but some of the classes have gone really elaborate and kids will need very elaborate costumes. Not sure how making parents organise elaborate costumes encourages reading to be honest, :)

DD7 school have yet to declare, I am assuming they are expecting complaints and as there is an after school event tonight, the newsletter will be emailed only after parents cant get in to complain (HT has done this several times before) so I am waiting with baited breath :)

Hope the birthday do goes well Cheapskate - fancy some party food now!

Woohoo Mrs LW - enjoy having your home back to yourselves, nothing better.

Fuddle - glad the chat with the Head went well. Talking is so often the answer to life's problems and issues.

I am glad I don't have the issues related to dance classes. I wouldn't like a daughter of mine wearing fake tan and other fake stuff.

Have got hardly anything done today other than the counselling and shopping using the vouchers at alldeedums. Spent a fair amount of time talking to DH and a far longer time thinking though about issues raised in counselling - my poor head hurts!

Princess, hope you are ok love?
Hope all of DH's equipment/bed has arrived Cornish Chick and you are cosy together.

Easy dinner to sort, few odds and ends and that's me for today, not need to rush about on a Friday eve.... bliss

I fancy a glass of wine - haven't touched a drop since on ADs. Anyone else manage to combine the 2 with no ill effect? I feel too apprehensive to try!

    sq :)

All these new moggies!! I shall be very jealous. Although 2 of mine are being real PITA today, one has walked over DD2's college forms and spread muddy paw prints all over them, chewed the corners and then proceeded to empty and shred a box of tissues all over the kitchen, the other seems to think I'm hiding something good and keeps trying to bury his way under me....when I tell him off he sits up and raises his paw to do "high 5" with me (and thats so cute I can't stay angry with him).

Fuddle - what sort of blanket are you doing (stitch wise?) the one I'm currently doing swallows a 50gm ball in 4 rows!

Feel utterly tired to the core again today, made it round town to get some fresh air and have been on the sofa for the rest of the day. DH has taken pity on me (I must look shattered and has offered to order a take away tonight! Yay). I had some fab luck in a charity shop and got 21m of fabric, 2 contrasting patterns, to make blinds for my conservatory. It came in just under £2 a metre so I was very pleased. I also treated myself to a new pair of jeans as mine are all falling down, I'm pleased to say I'm now in a smaller size than I have been for 12 years! (there's only so much trouser hoiking you can do in a day before you lose your patience)

Going to venture to the garage to fill the coal bucket and replenish the wood pile then it's jimjams on and more sofa dwelling!

    Hello everyone :)

Sorry for being MIA for a while, but I've been snotted up to my eyebrows with a sinus infection and all I've wanted to do is sleep. I've also been busy at "work" and doing extra shifts there.

Well done fuddle I'm sure you have given the school something to think about and hopefully act on :)

kidcat I'm so sorry that your parents are still acting in such a terrible way. Good for you sticking up for yourself, long may it last (((((hugs)))))

    Get well soon Pooky

SQ I wouldn't recommend drinking excessive amounts on the ADs, but I've had a very occasional single drink on mine with no ill effects. Maybe try a wine spritzer so you get the taste, but only have a bit of alcohol. I know what you mean about the counselling leaving you with hours of processing to do afterwards. I go on Wednesday mornings and stop at the chip shop and eat chips out of the paper as a way of grounding myself (in more ways than one given the size of my thighs ;) )

Much love and hugs to everyone (((((((((hugs))))))))))

I am doing ok at the moment. I've spent the afternoon baking and have made orange, ginger and rhubarb muffins and have pizza dough rising. Yesterday I got The Outsider Tart cook book from the library and made the Pennsylvania Dutch Spice Loaf recipe from it. I was a bit dubious as it uses a teaspoon of ground cloves, but I'm very glad to be proven wrong. It's a sticky cake, but isn't at all heavy if that makes sense. If the rest of the book is as good, then it will be making it's way onto my book case.

Tomorrow I'm going to go and do a day at the Loughborough branch of the shop I volunteer at with my old manager. Its the first step to getting onto the manager's radar and hopefully being considered for a paid job.

I'd better go and sort out pizza toppings in case DH gets called out to work.

    Take care everyone xxxxxxx

Update on DH's new job: he definitely likes it - they order Dominos Pizza for everyone (about 35 people) on the last Friday of the month! I guess they can't be doing so badly then...or maybe the morale boost is worth the spend.

I'm looking after some kitties this weekend (all this cat talk reminded me) and I'm dreading that they won't be there when I go round and I'll have to go look for them.

SDG lovely to see you, although I now have a mental image of you being snotted up to your eyebrows that I can't get out of my head. I've been baking too, and have just polished off 2 mincemeat muffins to use up the jar of mincemeat that's been in the fridge since before Christmas. They are delicious. What a shame there's still more mincemeat left in the (rather large) jar.

Princess hope the dentist went well :)

Kidcat blumming parents, they is absolutely no need for that kind of attitude of them.

Sq i've had a few glasses,of wine with ad's and been fine.

Stilt aw.hun you will feel like, its heartbreaking going through it all

Sdg hope your feeling better soon

Ds2 spent his birthday money on war hammer and pc games.
Came back and they all wanted to play monopoly again.

Regarding counselling, go back in a fortnight. Today was of no use as the relaxation course only started this week. So my session was cut from one hour to a.few minutes. I'm quite annoyed about,it but thats life.

    Morning all.
I can't believe it. I've finished the magazine and it's only just after midnight. Earliest I've ever been.
I'll read through properly tomorrow when I am thinking more sensibly.
Distinguished myself at lunchclub on Wednesday.
Tuesday night I got absolutely everything ready for the morning, even to weighing out all the ingredients for dumplings and chocolate crunch and putting the right number of eggs in basins with the egg whisk beside them. Next morning I sailed into the kitchen and proceeded to somehow mix up dumpling dough and choccy crunch. It wasn't until I had a strange mixture of flour, suet, salt, cocoa, sugar, melted marge and eggs all in their lined tins and baking in the oven that I realised what I'd done. No, I couldn't have given it to anyone to eat, it was vile. Talk about being organised. I'm giving that up for sure. Back to disorganised chaos - much safer.

    Right. Off to bed.
