ok, leaving aside the asylum green (also known as pistachio green - and no, I don't find it calming!!!), the right hand side bar on the forums is doin' me 'ead in! any chance it could disappear? please. pretty please?
other than that (and the colour) i think it's just going to take a bit of getting used to. just not sure how well it works on the forums section.
that said, the main site looks lovely. it's just the forums...My signature has been removed by the authorities. If you have been affected by the issues raised in this signature, please contact the Action Line on 1-800-THEY-NICKED-MY-SIG.0 -
Morning!
I tried to get onto the site late last night and almost had heart failure when I wasn't successful! At first glance I like the new layout, but Martin, please run a temp site when you make changes. Almost needed counselling! The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420 -
I like it
I too would prefer it without the green strip on the right, but my monitor is large so it's not too bad. I might change my mind when I view it on my small monitor at work thoughProud to be a MoneySaver!

Well done to everyone who worked on the new MSE Web site.
As with all things new, it will get a while to get used to, but I think it is a real improvement on the previous version !rafraf03

The green strip on the right is a little annoying, it would be nice without it but there used to be one on the left anyway.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

Regardless of what anyone says... I love it. I am logged on at work right now. The size of the screen is groovey and I actually like the colour green.
The only problem I am having is the little pictures e.g smiley faces. They show up as a big red angry X. sooooo who needs those any way, then there is soooo much debt to clear off and soooo much advice to soak in!!!
Recommended this site to lots and lots of people.
Groovey stuff!!!

Those who are saying "there's a big gap on the right", do remember "there used to be a big gap on the left" and this way those on 800x600 don't have to scroll right to read posts. It's the same size, so there's no space lost - in fact we worked incredibly hard to get the right hand browse bar from the main site to squeeze into that small space.
Not trying to be awkward Martin, but most forums purposely don't put big bars down the side, reducing the visible width. Instead having the main forum set to take full screen width (i.e. 100%) so that its scales to fit the window/monitor of the user. (In fact, I've just done a quick click around ALL of the forums I use regularly, not a single one has side columns...)
Trying to hard to squeeze the whole Right/Left bar down was a bit of a waste of time. The left was quite cluttering and annoying - so in a huge redesign, its just been moved to the other side...?
We're here, we're IN the forum. You have our attention, we're browsing the site already. The bulk of people neither need or require links to all sorts of info and gubbins down the side.
Add to that the fact that those boxes only go 1-2 screens worth, when most forum threads go on for much longer, and all you end up with is a huge amount of pale green space. (I've just noticed how much green space you get on the Cards Loans page... eesh! It's worse than the forum.)
I would say it's best not taking a 'Trust us, we've worked hard on it, its good' approach, if the people who actually use the forum every day don't agree... and theres been a lot of comments about the green space.
One little oddity - on my screen width, this Forum Reply box is actually breaking Out of the main forum area, and going UNDER the right hand side panel (shrink your browser window to really thin when replying to see what I mean..)0 -
I'm missing the drop down selector for quick jumps to sections of the site.
Can't say I like the colour scheme.
I do like the more newspaper style front page. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
