I went flying this morning when out running. Now have legs covered in very deep grazes, cuts and bruises so not feeling that fab. Never mind they will heal hopefully by next weekend.

Apart from that its a study boiling hot day at home, housework and ebay listings. Will get all that done today and go to bed feeling fab!

Eek Sparkles sorry to hear you went for a burton :( hope the cuts and grazes heal ASAP and that you've not done any major damage.

Am melting here. Busy day, DD had her birthday party at soft place centre and like most places has no air con so kids were sweating buckets  took them to a park in Warwick which has an outdoor paddling pool so they could cool off a bit but despite extra showers tonight it's still sweltering.
I have a choice of sweating to deal under the duvet or having a sheet and risking cramp in my calves :( I tried it last night and ended up leaping out of bed in agony :(:( I have no idea why it does it but there you go.

Anyway dressed up in lovely maxi dress that my mum made me a couple of years ago and whilst I am finding it too hot it's nice to be able to get a few wears out of summer clothing :T

Hope you're all keeping cool. LL a siesta sounded like a sensible idea ;)

Bitsy, how about a sheet with a throw/blanket/fleece over your lower legs? I have to do this when we have the window open and the lighter weight duvet on - hubby is moaning he is too hot and I've got cramp in my toes!

Far too hot to be productive today, so meals in the garden and a lazy day, think it will be more of the same tomorrow;)

Just a reminder about Fab Friday. Get those gladrags on.

My Friday wasn't very fab, one of those days where it all went wrong I spilt muesli all over the kitchen floor and got half way to work before realising I had not washed my face.

I'm still concentrating on exercise and have done a couple more 20-25 minute 'power' walks with a few minutes of running; so that's four timesI have been out in the past week. :T

Hopefully the next week or so will see me with confidence to make a more serious attempt at Couch 2 5K. I got some new running shoes yesterday, so have to do it now. :rotfl:

Anyway, I don't actually care if I find I can't do all of the running: it would be an achievement enough if I could continue to get myself out there a few times a week to do the walking.

Kiwi - you are doing really well, don't be hard on yourself. Starting small and building up is the way to go.

Yesterday it was like a furnace outside during the day - far too hot for comfort. I stayed indoors during the worst, had a nap and watched some catch up TV.

I watched a programme called "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead". You can google this for information.

It was truly inspirational. It was about an Australian called Joe Cross, who weighed in at over 300 lbs and who was seriously ill. His doctors were unable to help him. Joe decided to harness the body's own healing powers, devised a new eating plan and changed his lifestyle.

He travelled to America where he met a truckdriver called Phil who suffered from the same illness. He weighed over 400 lbs. With help from Joe Phil decided to have a go and he adopted Joe's lifestyle changes.

It is well worth watching. It just goes to show what we can achieve when we put our our minds to it. Our bodies are the most miraculous piece of engineering. With the right care, the right diet, the right lifestyle changes our bodies can heal themselves.

Phil's brother had a heart attack - again he weighed over 300 lbs but he was sceptical about Phil's regime. However, after his heart attack he too adopted the same changes and he is now on his way to regaining his health.

Basically - the changes are extremely simple - just like our Frump to Fab ethos. Simple, do-able easy steps to a better healthier life.

The "diets" were all about healthy eating, masses of fruit and veg, they juiced them. They first did a juice fast to "reboot" their systems then went on to eat healthy foods, mainly fruit and veg, small amounts of protein - no junk - the occasional treat.

Phil then started to spread the message in his community. In all cases blood pressure came down, diabetes was controlled or reversed, allergies were eradicated, they were able to come off medication.

In short their bodies healed themselves.

At the start neither Phil nor Joe could exercise - they were just too big. Phil began by walking on the level for 5 minutes out and 5 minutes back, and a little swimming.

Prior to their weight gains and illnesses both Joe and Phil had been athletic and healthy. Phil was ex army and a championship swimmer. Joe was a surf nut. They had simply eaten their way to sickness.

That programme has really inspired me. Yes I am overweight and I do feel disgustingly unfit. However I am lucky in that apart from my back and knees I am not unhealthy - no heart problems or diabetes.

Compared with Phil and Joe my task is relatively easy. 3 stones to lose, and to get strong and supple.

Ladies - I am on a mission. If Joe and Phil can do then so can I.

Yesterday I ate good healthy foods. Last evening when it had cooled down I spent about 30 minutes gardening and then just 10 minutes sitting quietly - not sure that it could be classed as meditating as such but just a few minutes, sitting and relaxing my mind.

This morning I have already spent 20 minutes on my yoga. I have some healthy meals planned.

Still struggling with my back and frozen shoulder, so lots of stretching today. 10 minute bursts several times a day I think might be the best way forward. Have booked physio for Wednesday.

Time to tackle the ironing before it gets too hot.

Sorry if this post is a bit long but just thought you might find Joe and Phil's stories uplifting and inspirational. I know their success has spurred me on.

    Have a fab day......

LL I heard quite a bit about the fat, sick and nearly dead guy whilst he was on various radio shows plugging the book a while back. I recall he was very inspirational, but I only got to see the first few minutes of the documentary.

 cramp in your toes is horribly painful, very difficult to stretch it out :(

I will try a blanket over the top of the legs with a sheet tonight. Although the amount of nights lately where I am bed hopping between one child or another I may not get the benefit ;)

Bought the book The Fast Diet by Dr Michael Moseley. Was hoping it would inspire (and keep inspiring) me to give this way of life a go. So far so good. I think I need to meal plan fast days as much as normal days. That way I know exactly what I can have without reaching for the nearest biscuit.

No other fab news, leggings and a tunic today to keep cool. Sorry jeans I love you but it's too hot:eek:

LL you can do it :T

Kiwisaver sorry but I did :rotfl: at you realising you hadn't washed your face!

Right off to move the half dead lawn before it gets too hot out there. Happy Monday all :)

Good morning all and another scorcher on the way.

I was up with the larks this morning so went shopping really early to avoid the heat.

Wilkinsons for a load of toiletries and cleaning materials and Farm Foods for a few bits and pieces. Treated DS1 to some hand towels to match his rather fetching green bathroom suite.:D and some red tea towels to match his kitchen.

We will of course be changing the bathroom suite eventually. I asked the conservation officer if we could replace it with something a little less lurid. No problem. He advised me to remove it carefully and not damage it. Apparently it is an original 1920's Art Deco number and worth a few shekkels. Whatever. It has to go.....

We have handed in our notice here on the rental so I am now going to work my way through the freezer and cupboards in readiness.

I have been struggling a bit with the heat. We are so far inland here that it can get rather humid and sticky - no nice cooling sea breezes.:( Not to worry I can work my way round it doing stuff in the morning and then gardening in the evening. My poor DS2 is finding it very hot in the garden centre.

The last couple of nights I have cleared a patch of weeds and nettles at the bottom of the garden. I do hope the landlord appreciates my efforts but this garden is like a jungle. Such a shame because I think it was once very pretty. Anyway I discovered a large redcurrant bush which is laden with fruit.

So that will be my reward. Tonight I will strip the fruit and freeze it ready to do interesting things with it over the winter. Posh redcurrant jous to jazz up my cooking. Watch out Nigella:rotfl:

By they way did you read about the way in which Charles Saatchi has been handling their break up. Just a bully and a thug - and definitely no gentleman for all his riches.......

Went to a lovely barbecue last night, ate nice healthy foods, a little rose wine and a very naughty caramel cheesecake!!!! Still I was very good I only had the one piece and only had one pudding whilst the little piglets I was dining with had two or three puddings.

I thought I behaved with admirable restraint. ;)

    Have a lovely day.

BTW - Bitsy - I understand that excessive leg cramps can be a symptom of low potassium levels. Potatoes and bananas.

It might be worth checking with your GP at some point.

I had horrendous leg cramps when pregnant with my DS1 - they checked my potassium levels and they were low. Not low enough to warrant potassium injections though. I was told to up my potatoes and bananas.

Oddly enough by that stage I had already developed cravings for potatoes, especially jacket or mashed potatoes. It must have been my body telling me what I needed.;)

Potassium levels definitely have an effect on muscle function. My OH now has to take a potassium channel blocker to allow signals from his brain to reach his muscles. Since taking this his muscle function has improved a little.
