hi,
Hewie- I sympathize with you although I still have my parents one by one several of my relatives have died over the past couple of years and though we all know it has to happen it doesn't make it any easier. I don't think anyone can blame you for feeling low and as for not wanting to bring the tone on here low, well I'd encourage you to do just that if you don't want it public feel free to private mssg me. I really think it helps to either talk to someone or write it down. ((hugs))
take care x
Not been around much myself. Nothing much to report, the weather has been much to uncomfortable for me and it's got me down. Businesses have also come to a standstill - have given a few cards out, registered on numerous sites but nothing so far - just need that break. Will keep at it though.
PP- hows it going with you?
wedding not far off and still a few things to get so must get my head together again. Really need to get back to where I was a few weeks ago as my mood is dropping again. A lot of things including H dragging me down again - at least now I can recognize it and try to minimize the effects.
any off to walk the dogs while there's a lull in the rain. Have agood day. xFrump to Fab - Solstice Sizzler

Hello Everyone - so nice to see you all.
Hewie - so sorry to hear that you are feeling down. Don't apologise - you've had a rough ride of late, you have every reason to feel low. Just try and nurse yourself back to feeling a little better. However long it takes and whatever it takes, just take it steady.
There are no short cuts to grief and sorrow. I shed a few tears each and every day, without fail. I miss my husband in a thousand ways. I know he is still alive but I miss what he was and will never be again. I wish I could have him home with us but, unless we win the lottery and could employ a team of nurses then that bringing him home is just a pipe dream - especially as I don't even buy a lottery ticket in the first place:rotfl:
WW - your holiday plans sound great, especially nice you are going with the "fling". Very romantic!!
Lizzie - good to hear from you. Keep going.
Well - I'm just off for a bath. I'm filthy, covered in dust, cobwebs and soot. This morning I was up with the larks and went over to the new house. Cleaned out the woodburner and did a preliminary clean of the lounge. Years of dirt and grime - horrid. The way some people live. At least it was a bit cooler for all that heavy work.
Managed to lock myself out when I was putting rubbish in the bin. My new neighbour took pity and gave me a cup of tea whilst we waited for DS2 to come to the rescue. Lovely young woman with two little boys.
One of the other neighbours was out picking litter on Sunday when we were there working on the house and knocked on the door to say hello and tell us to ask for help if we needed anything.
The house is a bit of a landmark in the area, much loved by the neighbourhood. I think everyone is pleased that someone has decided to take it on and rescue it. It's in a quiet backwater, in a conservation area. Not the poshest part of the city but very much "Ye Olde Derby". It has only been a conservation area for about 20 years but already you can see that it's protected status is having a very positive effect.
It's an area on the up and ripe for gentrification.
There is a lovely community spirit too. Many of the neighbours have lived there for over 40 years and they take great pride in the area. It's definitely going to be a nice place to live. Noticed the local church has a pilates class on a Tuesday morning so will investigate that.
Right time for a bath, then a nap, then get cooking.0 -
LL - the house sounds like it s coming along and the neighbours sound lovely. A good sign!
The rain has gone and the sun seems to be back for now at least so I'm off on a big dog walk in a minute to tire them out. My dog had his summer hair cut yesterday - its a bit short for my liking but he's much cooler and looks clean at least.
A load of ordered summer clothes arrived yesterday - I have tried it all on and decided to keep a long maxi dress in cobalt blue and a maxi vest beach dress in a lightish blue. The rest was ok but not fabulous so will be sent back today before I forget. I also have 4 new bikinis so am pretty much kitted out once I pick up the sarongs I've ordered. Just need to get some sunglasses and suncream and I'm sorted.
Doing something with The Fling later, not sure what yet but its always fun.
Have a load of washing on, will tidy round a bit after the dog walk and pop to the village post office this morning. Other than that no big plans for today.
Just a bit of work news ..... I've been accepted onto a Leadership course (very few are apparently) that starts in Sept. Its a qualification that will allow me to progress up the teaching ladder so even though it will be hard work doing it whilst working full time it will pay off in the medium term hopefully. I've been told that I'm "one to watch" and have been targetted for accelerated promotion so who knows? Can't be a bad thing.
Right, the woofers need walking so its time to get the trainers on. Hope we all have a good day. xx0 -
Hi all,
Apologies, have been MIA a bit lately! Still trying to catch up on you all, but LL glad to the move is going well, and WW that the 'fling' (or what shall we call him now?) is still going strong, holiday sounds like it will be fun.
Have been pretty busy, trying to get on with the self employed work - the Chinese place is going quite well, woman there loves me lol so I can get more hours than they initially said if I want them. Am working a bit more than I want there at the moment as still waiting on housing benefit/tax credits to hopefully get sorted out.
Was back in England last weekend so was nice to see family and have a catch up with friends. We'd done a wedding video for some friends of ours and took it down to finally show them - they were thrilled with it but ended up feeling a little bad as didn't realise some other friends of ours had broken up. Was a long term relationship and they had kids so rather sad, anyway the guy was there that night and there was plenty of footage of them both being 'coupley' - think it upset him a bit
Anyway, the fabbing is actually going pretty rubbish! Need to get back on the band wagon with a vengence I think so feel free to give me a kickOh, and have had another book accepted! :j This is a standalone and should be published in Oct so am quite excited.
Hope everyone is well x0 -
Wow, well done on having a book published podperson. That's fantastic:T0

Hewie hugs my lovey xx you've been through so much last year I am not surprised you're feeling lowhope the GP can help you with some support and please keep posting on here, even if its sad stuff. Better out than in and you'll always be guaranteed a sympathetic ear here xxx
Lizzie hugs for you, keep going lovey, your break will come soon xx
Sparkles glad the leg infection is clearing up x
LL house sounds as though its in a lovely spot.
Not much news from me. It was last day of school yesterday so felt really emotionalit's an infants so DS is leaving there anyway but given we are still aiming for moving at end of August it's felt like end of term is signalling the start of the end. I've avoided dealing with the aspect of moving away and leaving friends and family behind but I can't really avoid it for much longer
so waterproof mascara was purchased and it WAS tested
:rotfl:
Feeling totally unfab though. Pics taken yesterday at leavers assembly just highlighted how much I hate having my photo takenam so NOT photogenic
Late night thanks to DD and been up at 5am chasing mouse round living room courtesy of killer cat  am fasting today so will be trying to survive on lots of coffee for as few calories as poss. Roll on bedtime
Right off to do some yoga to try and get myself going a bit,
Hugs and high fives all round xI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Bitsy - I'm not photogenic either, I don't think I look like me in photos and am always horrified! Which waterproof mascara do you use? I need one for hols (look like I've been dug up without any eye make up!).
Had a lovely day yesterday with the Fling - went out to a fabulous country pub for lunch then home....;) Not seeing him today - he's spending the next 2 days with his teenage son before he goes off to America on hols for 2 weeks but have just spent 30 mins on the phone - all ok.
Been up early and walked the dogs for an hour before the rain comes and then popped to Wickes for a few things to get a couple of small DIY jobs done around the house, and then to the pet shop for supplies for the two dustbins that masquerade as Bichons.:)
Have already fixed two toilets that would not stop filling (float valves don't you know, thank god for youtube!), changed the spot lights in the kitchen and am about to attack a few drawers with some super dooper glue. Then its on to mending the grill thing at the bottom of the cooker (more glue hopefully) and then a good hoover of the house.
Another dress arrived today from Next (forgot I'd ordered it) - will try it on and see ... if its not gorgeous its going back.
I still need to go through the holiday wardrobe and get the washing done if needed so that's a job for this afternoon.
Right, onwards and upwards with the DIY...
Congrats Pod on the book - brilliant news!:T:T0 -

!:T:T
And I am. What comes out on a photo isn't what I see in the mirror!!
I bought Max Factor False Lash Effect waterproof mascara. I can't say I felt like I had false lashes but I use their mascara for everyday wear so I end to like their products.
Pity I didn't wear it today as at kids party with friends they presented me with a leaving giftcue lots and lots of tears
:o
On plus side Hubby told me Johnny Depp was spotted in Bath today and is rumoured to have a house in the area. If that isn't enough of an incentive to move I don't know what isI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
