Just found:So, Aldi, let's recap what ParkingEye is costing you:
- apparently you now have two staff entitled "ParkingEye Assistants"
- it seems you are currently advertising for another full-time member of staff to assist with ParkingEye-related complaints
- all over the country, people incensed by Aldi/ParkingEye's antics are scouring planning consents for breaches of planning conditions in Aldi car parks; there has been at least one successful prosecution already, and at least one more apparent breach is being dealt with by the relevant council
- the same people are also dealing with the Valuation Office Agency over whether Aldi car-parks have been re-valued for business rates since ParkingEye started operating a profit-making business in them
- it is widely suspected that, every time Aldi requests ParkingEye to cancel a charge, Aldi has to pay ParkingEye
- and, of course, there is the indeterminate but doubtless significant amount of lost custom.
Still happy with your decision to get into bed with ParkingEye, Aldi? How much do they need to cost you before it becomes worth your while tearing up the contract? Did you not study the Somerfield fiasco before signing up with ParkingEye? Perhaps you are now desperately toughing it out until the ParkingEye contract expires?
Some hours before of that:I wish aldi would work out a way to stop non aldi customers from using the free 1 hour parking in there car parks, I always buy my weekly shop in aldi and often cannot park,And so Aldi's disregard for planning permission continues. Central Bedfordshire Council have now confirmed that the parking at the Aldi Dunstable store is for ALL local shoppers not just Aldi shoppers. Guess what restriction Aldi have placed on it ???? Any proper response Weber Shandwick ?0 -

Are you reading up on how much to charge Aldi if they ever decide enough is enough and kick you out?0

Anyone care to take up the reins on this.
I was engaging him in quite a long email dialogue. Then he suddenly stopped replying after I challenged him on the point highlighted below

Dear xxx,
Thank you for the information about the Brentford case, this provides interesting reading and highlights to me that judges’ interpretation of the law frequently differs from case to case. Nonetheless Parking Eye provide us with a valuable service and we have no plans at present to change our relationship with Parking Eye.
I note your comments about the fullness and clarity of the terms displayed on Parking Eye’s signage and I will refer this to Parking Eye, along with the question on Business Rates, for their consideration. If you wish to receive a response on these points, I would direct you to Parking Eye themselves, who will be in the best position to discuss their internal operation and policies.
In relation to your question about the VAT status of claim notifications and the discount for immediate payment, I can provide the following information. The Parking Charge Notification issued by Parking Eye is a charge for their service in monitoring the car park and upholding the parking restrictions therein. If immediate payment is made, Parking Eye’s costs are reduced as they spend less time and fewer resources chasing payment. This is why Parking Eye can offer a reduced charge for immediate payment. VAT is not and cannot be added to the Parking Charge Notifications.
I hope that this answers the majority of your questions. As Parking Eye are a separate company, and not part of Aldi, I am not in a position to give you information about their internal operation, however I will reiterate that we remain confident in the effectiveness and appropriateness of the service which Parking Eye provides to us.
I will be in contact with the Cambridge store regarding the shared signage there, and I am grateful that you brought it to my attention.
Regards

Yet another idiot who doesn't know the difference between costs and losses. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
And it's Aldi who should be paying for their 'service in monitoring the car park', not the motorist!
Perhaps a rather 'naive' email back asking 'surely Aldi pay for a service that benefits them, why would they expect anyone else to pay as well?'.Please note, we are not a legal advice forum.
