I see Aldi are now offering the opportunity to take the Aldi Challenge and win £70 worth of shopping vouchers.
Now where have I seen that figure before ... ah yes by some strange coincidence it exactly matches the amount you will be charged by their bedfellows for daring to spend longer in the shop than you should !!!0 -
If parking eye are losing case after case at popla ( when the challenge is 'done right' ) Then by allowing parking eye to opperate on ALDIS car parks, knowing full well what hey are upto, couldnt ALDI be held to be negligent in some way? From the Plain Language Commission:

One might argue they are complicit in an unlawful act, having been appraised of the situation via numerous inputs to their FaceBook page and yet continue to ignore and encourage (by dint of their principal/agent relationship) PE to relentlessly persecute and prosecute their genuine customers. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

PE would point to the fact they are winning in Small Claims.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

You never know Aldi may well be sick to the back teeth of all this but they are stuffed if PE have a valid contract.
Somerfield sussed them out and gave them the big heaveho and it cost them £350K.
We would hope that when the contract is up for renewal they consider all the bad press they are getting.
Unfortunately because of the economic climate Aldi's customer base is probably growing, so they won't be seeing a detrimental effect on their profits.
It's obscene to think that someone who is genuinely unable to pay a parking charge. Don't realise or have the knowledge they can win at appeal, end up being dragged to a county court for shopping!0 -
Not only that, but it takes money out of the tills. How they can't see that if a customer has less money they can't spend it. And the rule of ten counts as well, you have a positive experience you tell a few people , have a bad one and you tell ten times more people. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They seem to have found at least one branch may have reduced the parking time against planning, poster advised to complain to council and go to usual sites for help.
Edit. Seems that PE have bitten off more than they can chew with this poster, complaining to council, press etc. Good.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Apologies if this info. has already been given. (Well, no apologies, just a bump)
Another ALDI contact who might have more clout than the Swindon "parking team" :-
Amy McKeown
Senior Customer Service Advisor
Aldi UK

Tel 0845 3450015
Fax 0845 6932177
This should be posted in reply to every PE related posting on their
Facebook page, I'm sure Amy will just palm them off onto the 'parking department' but her title suggests she is a bit more senior so might at least annoy her enough to make mention of it in the higher management circles she no doubt attends meetings with as part of her role.
Maybe with mention of the poor attitude of her 'parking department' might ruffle a few feathers as well.0 -

Yes it's inevitable that they will come across people who won't bend over and pay them, I do think that Aldi will land up in court over this as they will pee off a person who is litigant enough to take them on.When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you.
