Now their inbox is full so you cannot complain to Aldi via email as they suggest. Also, according to the Facebook page :-
"We don't expect people to spend longer in our store than 26 minutes -and we give them an hour & a half!"

Poor old pensioner Wilf. On these average time allowances the old lad had absolutely no chance.

We never found out how Aldi finally dealt with his case. Anyone know?

Interesting post by Ian Williamson on the Aldi FB page that PE took him to court and lost, costing them £190 in his expenses AND Aldi also having to stump up £110.

This has previoulsy slipped under the radar.
Very interesting if he managed to get ALDI involved in the court case as the whole point for them in engaging PE is to keep at arm's length the dirty business of enforcing their car park regime & so ALDI are seen to be suing their customers.

It's a pity he's not expanded on this after being asked on the Aldi FB page. I'm sure the press would find it extremely interesting.

    Gagging agreement?

It's intriguing as the way he phrased it is that ALDI were ordered to pay by the court which is different from a recent case reported here where B&Q sent a cheque to pay off PE after a customer had spent thousands on a fitted kitchen & wound up with a 'fine' from PE for overstaying while making his selection.

I have just had a very interesting discussion with Rachel from Aldi's parking department over her company's relationship with Parking Eye. By the way she reads these forum – hello Rachel!

I first asked her if Aldi were happy that PE are taking their customers to court. She said yes they have no problems with that and it's all the fault of parking forum “do-gooders” who told people in the past to ignore PE. Because of this PE have been forced to act in this way. If only people had appealed to PE most appeals would have been allowed.

I then pointed out that the vast majority of appeals were turned down by PE and now most of those have now been upheld when they have gone through to POPLA. According to here that's the fault of the “do-gooders” who have advised just making a soft appeal to the PPC who then turn down that appeal because they are not aware of all the facts of the case. Then when it is submitted to POPLA those “facts” come to light and PE are being “punished” by POPLA by having the appeal allowed.

I then asked about the £70 being claimed, and wasn't it an unfair penalty that bears no relationship to the losses that have been suffered. She said they are not “losses” but an amount the motorist agrees to pay if they break the rules.

According to Aldi's Facebook page if you are unhappy with the charge you can appeal directly to Aldi to try and get it overturned. I asked what about those people who don't have access to the internet. How are they going to know about that possible course of action. All she would say that the “appeals procedure” is is fully documented on PE's paperwork. Except, of course, there is no mention of that course of action on that paperwork.

She said that they are very happy with the way PE “manage” their car parks. I did point out that they are not managing the car park . With just ANPR cameras they can't monitor the use of disabled bays and they cannot see if anyone walks off site.

So there you have it, Rachel seems to have been brainwashed by Parking Eye and it's all the fault of “do-gooders” on various internet forums tha PE are taking people to court.

I have Rachel's office phone number if anyone want to speak to her. Just PM me.

Saw your post on Facebook, thanks for expanding on here. Wonder if that is Rachel's own opinion or she is just toeing the company line, surely no one who (supposedly) knows the facts can be that blinkered?

Rachel will be aware of the income being generated from this cosy set up, of course she likes it.

Someone just posted this on Aldi UK FB page.
    ITV News WestCountry @itvwestcountry
Anyone fallen victim to a company called ParkingEye and received a parking charge notice for £100? Would you be prepared to go on the telly?

    Question for aldi...

Are you happy to be breaching planning regulations in some of your car parks with parking eye setting time restrictions substantially lower than those that were agreed ( possibly as a condition to the planning being allowed ) when the store was built?

Rachel wasn't even consistent with her arguments. In one breath she was saying that there a lot of lies being told on these forums and she didn't believe that PE were losing POPLA appeals. Then she goes on to complain about PE losing appeals and being "punished" by POPLA. She didn't even believe about all those hundreds of court papers being sent out by PE. She asked "where's the evidence" but soon shut up when I told her about the FOI request.
