Missed Mustafa's comments on Aldi/PE and they don't seem to be on there now.
    Think they deleted them?

Mustafa Dump you said you were looking into this 4 times in the last 2 weeks! at the time this post was made , you had ample time to pick a phone up and ring the distribution centre ,then if necessary the buying department , why hav,nt you? making a phone call and returning with an answer would have been great, alas you chose the easy way out , and just wait till this question disappears down the page , putting it bluntly "the aldi facebook team" are a waste of time and space!about an hour ago · Edited · Like
  • I'd like to ask all the people hitting the Aldi facebook page to start hitting the Range page VERY hard because this set of posts made my blood boil. I'm just so sorry we weren't able to help the O.P on this. The Range need a hammering.

Hi, I would like to seek confirmation of who is the land owner for the The Range's car park in Newport Rd, Cardiff. My partner has been harrassed by ParkingEye who are apparently working for The Range, and she has just paid a £165 "fine" for parking there whilst the store was closed. There are no barriers on the site preventing access after the store has closed, and the warning sign outlining charges is poorly placed and not lit. I feel this to be grossly unfair, and I wish to protest to the land owners that ParkingEye is operatig these unfair practices on this site.

David Cronan- Why on earth did you pay the money? It's not a "fine", it's an invoice. Both the courts and POPLA ( the independent appeals service) ahev ruled on many occasions that Parking Eye are not entitled to that money because it does not represent any "loss" suffered either by Parking Eye or the landowner.

David Cronan- You could have killed that dead by making a good appeal to POPLA mentioning no pre estimate of loss and no contract to bring proceedings. Those points are winning time after time. In fact just recently PE are just throwing in the towel and not bothering to present evidence when faced by those points.

Christian Daniels They should never employ these scumbags to manage their car parks. DO NOT EVER PAY THESE IDIOTS. See here. https://www.pepipoo.com

Darren O'Leary- The original "charge" was £100 or £60 if paid immediately. Issued with notice of court proceedings and costs increased to £165.

Michael Freeman- Do The Range really expect my wife to shop at the Warrington branch ever again !!!!!!!! after spending £95 , £15 of it in the coffee shop for lunch with my 2 year old grandson which caused a slight delay in exiting the car park , now PARKING EYE are taking me to court for £165 plus costs , is this to treat genuine money spending customers , VERY UNHAPPY .

David Cronan- I am intrigued by that amount of £165. Did the case actually go to court or were you just issued with court papers and then paid up. The reason I ask is that PE's usual invoices vary between £60 and £100.

Darren O'Leary- Hi David, unfortunately having searched the internet I have seen many contrasting views, and given I am currently selling my house and have two young children I simply didnt have time to contest it properly in court. I will admit my knowledge of law is limited, and therefore I was uncertain as to possible consequences. Lesson learnt, but I would still like The Range to comment as to why they think these charges are fair

  • Hi all,
I know I face a reaction when I post this, but I work at Aldi and genuinely the reason for using Parking Eye is to try and keep free spaces for customers. The stores are much busier than they used to be and trying to ensure the car park is kept for customers is the aim.
Any genuine customers are not charged, letters from Parking eye are cancelled when proof of shopping can be given. All car parks are a minimum of 90 minutes (one or two town centre might be an hour) this is a lot of time for shopping in Aldi, tests have shown the average customer is in for under 30 minutes. The ladies who deal with customer queries face vitriolic abuse from people, that is not right, they are doing their job to help genuine customers and have no interest in causing distress to customers. Parking Eye have been acquired by Capita, a big services company and in the future this type of car parking will become more common. If you're a genuine shopper Aldi don't want you to have any issue, contact the customer services department and they will do their best to resolve.

You seem to be wrapped up in cotton wool on this issue. Aldi are quite happy to let parking spy make money from their customers.
I really think if you wanted a balanced view you should research the subject.
Maybe start of with breach of planning consents , targeting vunerable people.
Also I suggest you question the bad attitude of (text removed by MSE Forum Team)

What about all the car parks that had a covenant for shoppers to use other shops in the initial planning applications ? Or the car parks where the plans said that 2-3 hours of free parking was part of the plans? They have flouted laws illegally and have been fined because of it !

As for parking eye, we know they have been bought by craapita , we also know that they are losing court cases and popla appeals as they have no loss, and no rights to bring court cases! You think parking eye are ethical, wait until you are ticketed by them! Then try to deal with the ticket
