The temperature is rising again! Someone has posted there now saying that an elderly gentleman of her acquaintance copped a ParkingEye charge, and being elderly and not wanting to be in debt he simply paid it. Aldi is now squirming and asking for the gentleman's details - and at least one complete stranger has already posted to say that, having read the story, she will never shop at Aldi again!

Latest dropped gonad by Aldi is the persecution by their agent PE of an elderly gentleman whose only 'crime' was to be a bit slow on his feet, and loved to potter around the Aldi store looking at all the bargains.

PE fined him (yes, FINED him - Aldi have admitted in writing that they, via their Agent PE, FINE their customers if they fall foul of the arbitrary time limits set by PE, often in contravention of local planning consent).

The gentleman, being 'old school', thought Aldi had a legal right to fine him and he paid up. He is a totally non-computer person, so would have been unable to to even be aware of Aldi's 'kind offer' on FaceBook to 'look into' individual cases.

Fortunately an 'on-the-ball' neighbour/friend has found out about his harsh treatment and is certainly very, very annoyed about it and Aldi is now facing her wrath and that of a number of others equally disgusted by this.

Wonder how much more of this Weber Shandwick can take before they tell Aldi that managing a Facebook page is impossible in the face of such a hated policy on the part of their client?

Not sure they're too bothered. Ctrl V seems to be their preferred action, which any office chimp can get their two fingers on. So two fingers to Aldi FB posters, going hand in glove with Aldi's two fingers to their customers, whilst their best two fingers would be aimed directly at PE.

Meanwhile Aldi customers, particularly the old and weak suffer, PE continues to profit, Aldi don't seem to care a flying !!!! and Weber Shandwick continues to forward lucrative monthly invoices to their treasured client.

Yes I suppose so, but W.S. must at least be warning Aldi of the carnage on their Facebook page. Just imagine if an Aldi executive went there "cold" without being pre-warned!

And in the case of the elderly gent car park 'management' is a complete misnomer. ANPR has absolutely no power of discretion and why there are so many very angry customers creating such an outcry on FB.

If they had a real car park manager on duty then he/she would have spotted this gent's obvious inability to move quickly, had a quiet chat with him, offered to help him load his Aldi purchases into his car, guided him out of his bay, wished him a safe journey home, said he'd see him again next week and waved him goodbye. Isn't that what a car park management facility should be doing?

You'd like to think so, but sometimes I think we are living in a bygone age here, expecting service and respect from these people. It's reverting to the bloody stone-age out there - if it's weaker than you, EAT IT!!!

They're still there G.D. One of the links on this thread contains a filter that makes it only show Aldi posts.

There was mention earlier today on the Aldi FB page about the BBC getting involved in exposing the PPC scam. I thought it was reference to the upcoming programme next Wednesday on BBC 1 - Your Money, Their Tricks. However, apparently not so, following someone asking the OP for more detail. This was the reply:
To add to Richard's post - it is a mainstream BBC TV, Nationwide, peak time program, not a bit in a mid afternoon local radio news slot. More news nearer air. It's still in final preparation so maybe just time to squeeze in the news that PE have been sacked (yet again!). Otherwise I think Aldi could suffer an even bigger PR flop than their Facebook page is doing for them right now
