The Aldi FB page went slightly quiet a couple of days ago, maybe Aldi and W-S thought that would be the end of things.
Not so - it's back with vengeance with new posters expressing their outrage. The elderly gentleman story is a really nasty bit of PE/Aldi work.
Just look at the damage that PE has inflicted on Aldi as a direct result of their msguided strategy of mass issue of Letters Before Action to Aldi-only customers. A spectacular back-fire.
And, when the BBC TV expose is aired Aldi will be between an even bigger rock and hard place than they currently are on FB.
My goodness Rachel, what have you visited on Aldi? I bet you're a popular name at Aldi HQPlease note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I note that Pranky is turning his attention yet again to the Aldi debacle - 'Aldigate - day 11'

At 1138 yesterday (Thursday) morning, I emailed you as you had requested. You asked for further personal details from me which you are not getting. I dont trust your interpretation of the DPA. Would you be so kind as to answer my email please? Its not that difficult, you do say that those who can answer the questions dont have access to external emails, so they forward it to you, you forward it to me. Quite simple. BTW, it was about Parking Eye and Aldi's involvement in court cases.
Aldi UK Hi Gary, thanks for your post - we're looking into this for you now and will be in touch.

In the case of the "old gentleman" they have been asked at least a couple of times about those people who do not have access to the internet and what they can do. Back comes the stock answer :-
the Aldi appeals process is exactly the same as Parking Eye's - which is clearly laid out on the back of all communication issued by them. Thank you.
I bet that nowhere on PE's threatening letters is their mention that an aggrieved customer can bypass PE and appeal to Aldi directly. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

Oh dear Aldi! this from their Facebook page regarding the "old gentleman" who took too long to do his shopping, received a PCN and was so scared by PE's threatening letters that he paid them £70 :-
It is Shrewsbury Aldi. BBC are very interested in this and are currently conducting interviews. You will be sorry you 'fined' old Wilf Aldi, very sorry. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0
