PARKING CHARGES ARE RIDICULOUS!
We shop every week at Aldi we spend well over £100 per week and take our elderly parent who also spends around half that amount, it is now the 3rd time we have been sent a charge from Parking Eye to say we have been over the 45 minutes and have to pay £40 now or £70 later.
We were instore 57 minutes total and entered our reg.number into the machine to prove we had shopped there.
WE CANNOT AFFORD TO SHOP AT THORNTON-CLEVELEYS ALDI IF YOU CHARGE FOR PARKING LIKE THIS !
How on earth can you do a proper shop, my MIL always takes at least 1 hour and she's not totally decrepit. OP has been advised to check planning dept.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Yes, it is getting a bit tiresome, isn't it?

They've chosen the wrong victim this time. The guy, Dave Angel has hit them with nine postings so far. He's even posted their private response.
'Good Evening Mr Angel,
Thank you for taking the time to contact Aldi customer services.
We are very sorry to hear you have received a parking ticket at one of our stores. We do unfortunately have to enforce time restrictions on our car parks as a response to persistent abuse from non-customers, and after receiving numerous complaints over customer’s inability to find a parking space due to customers parking at the store Car park who are not using the store, unfortunately we have had to enforce this.
In order to achieve this we have used a company called Parking Eye, whose camera system can accurately record the times that customers arrive and depart the car park. To make our customers aware of the restrictions on our car park, there are numerous signs situated both outside and inside the store.
We do have a dedicated team here within Aldi that deal with all parking tickets that will be able to look into your particular situation but unfortunately they are unable to deal with external email.
I will forward your email on to them now and request that they contact you to discuss this.
Kind Regards'
Just goes to show the dishonesty. All the contact our customer services carp.0 -

What you need to do is appeal each one. Simple and each time it costs them around £100.00. See the Newbies thread at the top of the page. Appeal to POPLA for each ticket.0 -

The actual cost is about thirty quid plus VAT. 2.50 to get the keeper's details from DVLA and 27 plus VAT to POPLA. Of course, they still have to pay salaries that aren't generating income to do this, so yes, it does cost them money, but a cut and paste template "attack" and a bit of postage probably doesn't cost that much.
It will cost them a darn sight more if they lose in court though.

As well as costing the PPC (as you detail above) there is a much greater cost to the BPA who support the POPLA infrastructure. This has to be paid for in some way - via PPC subscriptions to the BPA.
For estimates of the real cost, see here:
