Been In an Accident - Advice Please?

Whilst I don't entirely agree with the OP's hopes, I think I can see a fundamental difference.
His 1.5TD will be considered 'good news', relatively speaking, whereas most people are wise enough to not want to run an ancient Mondeo that does 12mpg*
If the Mondeo was a TD Ghia X it would be more than the base 1.6.
*perhaps an exaggeration
I think you are missing my point. It was just an example.0 -

Think I've missed your point too, because it looks like you are trying to say a poverty spec car is worth exactly the same as a top of the range model.0 -

For example if two identical cars in terms of mileage/age/condition are up for sale at the same price but one is a poverty spec with windy windows and steelies, whereas the other one is top spec, leather interior/aircon/satnav all the toys, then who in their right mind wouldn't choose the better one?
It would make it more desirable and thus demand a higher price and the basic one would need to be cheaper to sell.
I agree. However it doesn't bump the price up from £500 - £750 right up to £1500.
The OP is being very optimistic.0 -

The OP is being very optimistic.
£400 is too low an offer for me and i agree £1500 is unrealistic.
I only want a reasonable amount of money for my car that reflects it's value. I have a figure in mind thought of how much i'd accept and i think it's very reasonable and can be substantiated. I'll keep the figure private for the moment but i can say for sure it's not £1500All your base are belong to us.0 -

As the car is worth more to you than the insurance company would value it at, then isn't it worth repairing it?
Or if you still have the original parts, wouldn't it be worth changing it back to original, and then selling the parts you added?0 -
At the end of the day, you decided to modify (chav up) a very ordinary everyday car which is worth nothing.
Sticking go faster bits of plastic to it will not increase its value. Infact it will devalue it.
You obviously had the wrong insurance policy covering it and are now moaning you are not getting every penny back you have spent on it.
I expect you will get slightly more than £400 if you hold out, but not much more.
I have my car on classic car insurance with a guaranteed value if its involved in an accident. Which is the value I know I can go out and buy a replacement with.0 -

I'm guessing you haven't read the whole thread since this post seems to have ignored most of the information contained already and have made generalised sweeping inaccurate accusations
.
What go faster pieces of plastic do you think i have stuck to my car?
Most of the work and money spent was restoration work and carrying out subtle modifcations at the same time I'd assume as you own a classic car you'd understand how time consuming and expensive this can be.
In regards to value, the CDX Isuzus are very desirable within the Vauxhall community for various reasons. The average buyer who doesn't know much about cars though, not worth much. You obviously had the wrong insurance policy covering it and are now moaning you are not getting every penny back you have spent on it.
My insurance policy is fine. It's a specialist policy selected for modified cars.
At the moment i'm not claiming through my own policy, but if i don't get what i'm looking for via the third party directly then i will pursue it via my own insurers instead.
If i wanted every penny back, i'd be requesting around the £2500 figure.I expect you will get slightly more than £400 if you hold out, but not much more.

This is not the type of policy i have. I agree, i think i will be offered more than £400 but not substantially moreAll your base are belong to us.0 -
Hi all,
I was waiting at the traffic light to turn right , there was no specific light for right turners . a bus was standing at the opposite side , when the light turned green , I judged that there was enough time to turn right so I moved but the bus was fast and hit me at the rear passenger side door . I had my mum and my sister in the car . 2 months after the incident I got a letter from bus company asking for damages approx. 800£ . I wrote them the letter saying as the accident was not my fault and I had a lot of damage to my car and passengers were not hurt I would not like to claim against them . as in 50/50 claims we will both pay for our own damages . however the bus company replied back asking for my insurance details or demanding to pay for the damages myself .
I would like advise on what should I do give them my insurance details or put the claim through the claims management companies .
pay for bus damage myself . how would these things affect my premium . can in future any passengers in the bus claim for damage against me for damages and will it further increase my premium .
I thank you all in advance for you time and advice .0 -

You should create a new thread for this.
I don't see how think the bus caused the accident. You miss judged a gap and got caught.
Either pay up or go through your insurance.
You're fortunate all the passengers on the bus aren't claiming whiplash.0
